Language Certification

Certifying your proficiency in a language is essential for advancing to higher levels of study, meeting language requirements for undergraduate, master's, or doctoral programs, or enhancing your job opportunities, among other benefits. The Centro de Linguas Modernas offers various certification options.

  • In undergraduate studies, you can earn ECTS credits for foreign language proficiency, ranging from 3 ECTS for B1 to 6 ECTS for C2, either by completing CLM courses or by obtaining official certification.
  • For admission to master’s programs, USC requires proficiency in a foreign language at B1 or B2 level, depending on the specific degree.
  • Students applying for outgoing mobility programs must certify their proficiency in the language of their destination country or university at B1 or B2 level.
  • For incoming mobility students, USC requires a B1 level in Spanish or Galician to access undergraduate studies.
  • For permanent faculty positions, USC requires:

    A B2 level in Galician (Celga 3)

    A B2 or higher diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language for applicants from countries where Spanish is not an official language.

  • Certain administrative and teaching staff (PAS and PAI) positions may require specific foreign language proficiency levels.
  • Completing CLM-level courses.
  • Passing the Language Proficiency Certification (PCL) exams organized by the CLM.
  • Submitting an officially recognized language certificate accepted by USC.
  • Passing external language exams administered at USC.
