Summary
Objective: to explore the motivations behind the use of electronic cigarettes in adults over the age of 18. Method: A systematic review of the literature was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines. To this end, searches were conducted in Medline (PubMed), Embase, Cinalh, and PsycInfo. Qualitative studies published up to October 2024 that investigated reasons for using electronic cigarettes in the adult population were included. A thematic analysis of the motivations was performed, and in those studies where it was possible, the main motivation was identified. The quality of the studies was assessed using the Caspe tool. Results: 19 studies were included in the review. Most of the studies were conducted in the United States. Seven main themes related to the reasons for using e-cigarettes were identified: health benefits, product appeal, social influence, convenience, product price, curiosity and leisure, and changes in tobacco use. Vaping as an aid to quit smoking and its variety of smells and flavours were the main reasons identified in most of the included studies. Conclusions: Different motivations for using e-cigarettes were identified, the most common being smoking cessation and the variety of smells and flavours. Understanding the variety of motivations surrounding the use of electronic cigarettes is key to developing more effective preventive strategies that are tailored to the needs of the population.

Summary
Burnout syndrome is a state of physical, mental and emotional exhaustion caused by chronic work stress, and affects a significant percentage of nursing professionals in Spain. This phenomenon is characterized by extreme fatigue, a negative attitude towards work and a feeling of inefficiency. This systematic review analyzes the factors that contribute to the development of burnout and endorses the most effective interventions to mitigate its effects on the occupational well-being of nurses. The main risk factors identified in the studies reviewed include work overload, lack of institutional support and long working days. In turn, we found that burnout has a negative impact on job satisfaction and contributes to staff turnover. However, various prevention strategies, such as access to psychological support and the implementation of wellness programs, have proven to be effective in reducing levels of burnout and improving the quality of work life of professionals. The review included 19 studies carried out between 2013 and 2024, where instruments such as Prol-QOL, CVP-35 and MBI were used to assess burnout and occupational well-being. The results revealed that between 30% and 60% of nurses in Spain present significant symptoms of burnout. In conclusion, burnout is a common problem among nurses in Spain, with a notable impact on their work well-being. To reduce its effects, it is essential to implement organizational interventions, offer psychological support and promote work policies that favor mental health and the balance between professional and personal life.

Summary
Introduction: In Galicia, to ensure the correct implementation of the Euthanasia Law, protocols for Medical Aid in Dying (PAM) and organ donation after euthanasia were developed. Both require a rigorous performance from nursing professionals, especially in critical care units, due to their clinical, ethical, and legal implications. This study analyzes the level of knowledge among critical care nurses in the Santiago de Compostela health area regarding these protocols. Objectives: To assess the knowledge of critical care nurses about the PAM and organ donation protocols, identifying strengths and areas for improvement. Methodology: Observational and descriptive study using a structured questionnaire, distributed electronically to critical care nursing staff in June 2025. Results: A total of 94 nurses responded, 41.5% of whom had less than five years of experience. 57.4% had previously read the protocols. The overall accuracy rate was 79%, with higher scores in the PAM section (83.5%) compared to the organ donation section (74.9%). Significant differences were observed based on professional experience and prior knowledge of the protocols. The main gaps were found in technical aspects of the donation process, such as diagnostic tests and clinical parameters. Conclusions: Although overall knowledge is acceptable, there are still gaps, particularly regarding organ donation. It is recommended to strengthen training through the implementation of specific checklists and clinical simulations to support protocol integration in daily practice, especially for less experienced professionals.

Summary
This Master's Thesis analyzes the relationship between participation in leisure activities and the quality of life of older adults in urban and rural contexts specifically, Santiago de Compostela and Camariñas, respectively. The research aims to examine the perceived benefits of regular participation in leisure activities and how this relates to psychosocial variables such as loneliness, self esteem, satisfaction with health, and perceived quality of life. A quantitative design was employed with a sample of 272 individuals over the age of 60. Data collection was carried out through a structured questionnaire, which included established and validated scales such as the Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale and the UCLA Loneliness Scale. The results showed that a higher frequency of participation in leisure activities is associated with a better perception of quality of life and health. Likewise, it was observed that those with higher levels of emotional well-being, social connection, and a positive perception of health are the ones who participate most regularly in these activities. Additionally, significant differences were identified based on municipality of residence and educational level. Therefore, active participation in leisure activities contributes significantly to improving the quality of life of older adults. This influence is mainly reflected through increased emotional well being, reduced loneliness, and a greater perception of health. These findings highlight the importance of designing and implementing accessible leisure programs for everyone in order to promote active and fulfilling aging.
