Summary
This study analyzes the influence of family relationships on the quality of life of people with dementia through a systematic review, following the PRISMA guidelines. Two databases were used: Dialnet and PubMed, for which a specific search strategy was designed, and the most relevant studies were selected based on established criteria. The results show that positive and cohesive family relationships are associated with greater physical and mental well-being in both people with dementia and their caregivers. In contrast, dysfunctional relationships lead to physical and emotional overload, as well as earlier deterioration in both care recipients and caregivers. These findings highlight the need to include the family as a central focus of intervention. Among the identified limitations are the scarcity of specific studies on the topic and the predominant use of cross-sectional designs.

Summary
Nutrition during the early years of life plays a fundamental role in neurological and cognitive development in children. A deficiency in micronutrients can cause significant adverse effects on brain structure and function. The main objective of this systematic review is to analyze the relationship between micronutrient deficiencies such as iron, iodine, zinc, vitamin D, and vitamin B12 and neurocognitive development in children between the ages of 0 and 12. The literature search was conducted in scientific databases such as PubMed, Medline, Dialnet, and Scielo. From these, 23 articles were pre-selected, of which 8 met the established inclusion and exclusion criteria. This search covered systematic reviews and clinical trials that evaluate the effects of micronutrient deficiencies in childhood and their main consequences. The results of the review reveal an existing association between micronutrient deficiencies and impairment of cognitive functions. For example, iron deficiency is linked to memory and attention impairments, while vitamin B12 and D deficiencies are associated with neurodevelopmental disorders and incomplete myelination of the central nervous system. Furthermore, the review highlights that populations most affected by these deficiencies are those in socially vulnerable situations. For these groups, preventive strategies are reviewed, such as the implementation of nutritional education programs. In conclusion, the need to address child malnutrition from a comprehensive and preventive approach is emphasized, highlighting the importance of conducting longitudinal and controlled studies to establish causal relationships between nutrition and child neurocognitive development.

Summary
Introduction: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the pathologies with the highest prevalence worldwide. This condition mainly affects the most developed countries and its onset is increasingly occurring at earlier ages. DM causes a large number of associated problems such as microvascular problems, among which we highlight nephropathy, retinopathy and neuropathy, on the other hand it also generates macrovascular problems such as heart failure (HF), peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and coronary artery disease (CAD). All these associated problems can be avoided or delayed by maintaining an adequate weight, exercising and maintaining a nutritionally adequate diet. Hypothesis: Nursing educational interventions related to the promotion of healthy habits in patients with type 2 DM improve nutritional knowledge and reduce the problems associated with this pathology. Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of a health education program in people with type 2 DM. Methods: A quasi-experimental research project is presented, of pre-post intervention type, consisting of the implementation of a health education program in people with type 2 DM in all health centers of Santiago de Compostela. It will be carried out thanks to the data collected through two questionnaires (IMEVID, Photographic Atlas ENALIA-2) and two determinations of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and taking anthropometric values. Our target population will be people with type 2 DM aged between 50-74 years who will be responsible for filling out our questionnaires.

Summary
Introduction: Psychoactive substances are those that alter feelings, behavior and thoughts. University students are a social group vulnerable to psychoactive drug and energy drink abuse, driven by social, academic and professional influences. Objective: Study the level of knowledge, attitudes and frequency of use of psychoactive drugs and energy drinks in nursing students of University of Santiago de Compostela. Methodology: A transversal study was made between September and October 2024, where data was collected about knowledge, attitude and practices about psychoactive drugs (anxiolytics, stimulants and opioids) and energetic drinks use. A descriptive analysis of the data was made. Results: 96,65% (n=289) of students invited to participate in this study (n=299) answered the questionnaire. An affected mental health is shown, in which 3,8% of participants showed suicidal thoughts, and more than a half of the students commented feeling sad sometimes. The average age of first consumption goes between 16 and 19 years, depending on the substance. 80% of participants in this study showed an appropriate level of knowledge about health risks caused by energy drinks, anxiolytics, stimulants and opioid use. Nevertheless, 20% showed a low level of knowledge and inappropriate attitudes towards these substances. It is shown that the main reasons for drug intake are related to dealing with fatigue or improving academic performance. Conclusions: Surveyed students showed an appropriate level of knowledge about psychoactive drug use. Nevertheless, 20% of participants still don’t know about the negative effects these substances cause. It is important to keep teaching about health education.

Summary
Background: Healthcare, as a reflection of society, is not exempt from preconceived ideas, stereotypes, and gender roles. The nursing profession, historically regarded as feminine and feminized, is particularly influenced by these attitudes, which can directly impact students' development and performance during their clinical training. Objectives: To determine the extent to which nursing students perceive or experience attitudes and biases related to gender, identity, and/or sexual orientation in the hospital setting during their clinical placements. Methods: An observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional study was conducted with undergraduate nursing students through a 40-item questionnaire. This instrument addressed demographic variables, perceptions of everyday sexism (micromachismos), experiences during clinical placements, responses to these situations, and perceived differences in treatment based on sex. Results: A total of 306 students completed the questionnaire, of whom 84% identified as women and 16% as men. Women reported perceiving up to three times more everyday sexism during their clinical training. Additionally, 55.6% of all respondents reported experiencing uncomfortable situations, with significant differences found based on the sex of the student. Conclusion: Results show that nursing students continue to face situations and attitudes linked to gender biases during their clinical placements. This finding highlights the need to promote more equitable, inclusive, and safe clinical environments that support professional development without gender-based conditions.

Summary
Nursing staff have traditionally been exposed to stressors inherent to their work, such as heavy workloads and the emotional impact of supporting patients and families in highly vulnerable situations. Added to this are the structural deficiencies of the healthcare systems in which they work, such as the low nurse-to-patient ratio in Spain, a consequence of staff shortages. When these factors intensify, they can lead to what is known as Burnout Syndrome (BS). Suffering from this syndrome can lead to the development of mood disorders, anxiety, or depression. This review aims to analyze the prevalence of this syndrome among nursing professionals working in emergency departments (EDs), as well as to identify the psychosocial and occupational factors that may influence its onset. To this end, a systematic search for original articles on the topic of this study was conducted in several databases (PubMed, Scopus, EMBASE, PsycInfo, and CINAHL) between 2005 and 2025. The search strategy used the terms Burnout Syndrome AND nursing AND emergencies AND prevalence resulted in the 12 articles ultimately included. After analyzing all of them, it can be concluded that BS has a high prevalence among the ED workers observed.

Summary
Leisure is an essential component for the overall well-being of individuals, as it promotes personal development, socialization, and an improved quality of life. However, access to leisure is not always equitable, especially for older adults with intellectual disabilities, who face multiple physical, social, and attitudinal barriers that limit their active participation in leisure activities. Given this reality, it is crucial that organizations working with this group take an active role in promoting truly inclusive leisure. This involves designing and implementing programs tailored to their needs, interests, and abilities, ensuring their right to enjoy free time on equal terms. The present study aims to develop a pilot intervention project that promotes the inclusion and well-being of older adults with intellectual disabilities through the creation of accessible, participatory, and meaningful leisure environments. The initiative will be carried out in collaboration with the Association of Parents of People with Intellectual Disabilities of Santiago de Compostela, which will serve as the reference setting for its implementation. First, an exhaustive literature review will be conducted in order to understand the current landscape of the issue, identify best practices, and establish a theoretical framework. Subsequently, an intervention project adapted to the specific context of the association will be designed. This intervention seeks to encourage the active participation of older adults with intellectual disabilities in inclusive leisure activities, promoting their autonomy and self-esteem. Likewise, it aims to contribute to a substantial improvement in their quality of life and to advance toward a more just and inclusive society.

INTRODUCTION: The health profile, understood as the health situation of a territory, allows for the analysis and comparison of the health status of populations using various indicators. Knowledge of the health profile of the population is required, taking into account the type of health regions. Based on this, the following general objective was proposed. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To understand the health profile in Galicia and to establish its comparison with the European one, considering health regions. METHOD: Systematic review using the PRISMA type. Databases: Pubmed, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), OECD, CDC, SERGAS, European Commission, NICE, Cochrane, WHO, specific journals, citations from previously found bibliography. To establish the comparative analysis, the average (OECD, etc.) was used as a reference measure for each indicator and the position in relation to that average. RESULTS: The indicators are grouped into the dimensions of health status.Health determinants - risk factors, structure, organization and financing of the health system, the effectiveness, accessibility and resilience of the health system. In particular, life expectancy at birth is above the European average. Among young people, health risk factors such as tobacco and alcohol consumption are slightly below the European average. Physical activity among children and adolescents is above the European average. However, in relation to other indicators such as the prevalence of diabetes, Spain is above the OECD average. CONCLUSIONS: The health profile in Galicia, in general, is above the European average, similar to the rest of the Autonomous Communities. Indicators such as the prevalence of diabetes are above the European average.

Summary
Introduction: Deaf individuals face invisible but deeply limiting barriers in accessing healthcare services, particularly regarding communication with healthcare professionals. At the University Clinical Hospital of Santiago de Compostela, a reference center in Galicia, these difficulties can seriously affect care quality, clinical safety, and the patient experience. As a nurse and a family member of deaf people, this issue challenges me directly and ethically. Objective: To design an intervention proposal from the nursing management perspective to improve communicative accessibility for deaf individuals at the Clinical Hospital, based on a review of regulations, scientific literature, and national and international experiences in healthcare settings. Materials and Methods: A qualitative, descriptive methodology was used, based on documentary and bibliographic review of official, scientific, and professional sources. No interviews or fieldwork were conducted; instead, priority was given to the accessibility of information, source reliability, and ethical focus. The analysis aimed to identify structural barriers, effective strategies, and replicable models, with special emphasis on the transformative role of nursing. Results: A training protocol to improve communication with deaf individuals is included as Annex I, targeting healthcare staff training, institutional awareness campaigns, use of support technologies (such as video interpreting), development of accessible materials, and a proposal for a specific care protocol. These actions are designed to create sustainable organizational change grounded in equity, user dignity, and social justice. Conclusions: Ensuring communicative accessibility is not only a legal obligation but also an ethical and professional imperative to build truly inclusive healthcare. Nursing, due to its close relationship with patients and its role in care management, holds an inescapable responsibility in this process. This Master's Thesis aspires to be a realistic and committed contribution to transforming the system from the everyday, the human, and the achievable.
