Self-protection plan

The Spanish legislation establishes the need for the owners of certain activities, depending on their characteristics, to take the necessary measures to prevent possible emergency situations that may occur, as well as to establish the criteria for action in case any of these emergencies might occur.

In accordance with this obligation, the present Self-Protection Plan is drawn up for the Center of the University of Santiago de Compostela, Faculty of Teacher Training, located at Av. Ramón Ferreiro, s/n, no Campus Lugo, in Lugo, Spain.

To elaborate this Plan, it has been considered the Basic Self-Protection Standard for centres, establishments and dependencies dedicated to activities that may give rise to emergency situations, hereinafter, the Basic Self-Protection Standard (R.D. 393/2007 of 23 March 2007. B.O.E. no. 72 of 24 March 2007)..

Objectives

The main objective of this Plan is to prevent and control risks to people and property and to provide an adequate response to possible emergency situations in the area under the responsibility of the owner of the activity, guaranteeing the integration of these actions with the public civil protection system.


Other objectives of this Plan:
 

  •   The description of the establishment, its facilities and the sectors or areas of potential risk.
    •    Identify, analyse and evaluate own and external risks.
    •    Establish forms of collaboration with the public Civil Protection system.
    •    Guarantee the reliability of the installations and means of protection.
    •    Guarantee the availability of trained and prepared people for rapid and effective action.
    •    Ensure immediate intervention, evacuation and/or confinement (if necessary).
    •    Facilitate inspections of the Administration Services.
    •    Guarantee the intervention of External Aid.
    •    To prevent possible adverse events to all those activities, centres, establishments, spaces, facilities and dependencies referred to in Annex I that may be affected by emergency situations
    •    Identify the existing and necessary means of protection to mitigate possible events. (human and material).
    •    Organize human and material resources and plan their obligations.
    •    Comply with current regulations.
