This platform was created with the aim of responding to and supporting research, being available for the USC and other public and private entities.

The platform has first-rate technical and human resources, with modern instrumentation and high-tech equipment. These infrastructures make it possible to solve numerous questions in the field of research and technological development.

The sequencing platform was created by the USC in 2006 to provide sequencing services to the university community and, at the same time, to provide these same high quality services to researchers from other public and private entities.

From the beginning, the platform's activity was closely linked to the research groups of Dr Ángel Carracedo and Dr Paulino Martínez. With the aim of incorporating the important experience and know-how of these two groups in the area of functional genomics into the platform, in 2009 the platform was reoriented to also include these technologies in its portfolio of services and activities.
