All those samples, which are insoluble in any solvent, are susceptible or too apolar to be measured with the mobile phase used in APCI/APPI-FIA, or those that degrade with the high temperatures used in APCI or APPI sources, have the option of the Probe.
The Probe consists of using the same APCI or APPI source as in FIA, but changing the sprayer connected to the HPLC/UHPLC for a DIP (Direct Injection Probe). In this way, a glass capillary is used to introduce the undissolved (or dissolved if applicable) sample, allowing the sample to be injected into the HPLC/UHPLC.
