The external practices must provide the student with a direct contact with the labor market reality. Although the credits are limited, efforts will be made to integrate students into ongoing projects, not only to learn the flows and dynamics of teamwork in the field of computer vision, but also to try to contribute in some part of the project with knowledge acquired in the Master to date.
This work should lead the student to deepen a thematic related to the master's degree in computer vision, should lead the student to internalize concepts, methods and techniques in the perspective of learning by doing, allowing him to develop reflection and synthesis; should make possible the accomplishment of the work applied to the context of the area of expertise of computer vision.
The internships will be agreed with the companies and with the research centers offering them (which have already signed a collaboration agreement), in such a way that they fulfill the requirement that the projects in which they are integrated help to complete their training in some of the compulsory or optional subjects taken and that allow them to have direct contact with the reality of the market.
Each student will have an individual work program in the domain of the master course, defined by the tutor in the host institution and validated by the academic tutor. The main steps may encompass a subset of the following, according to the specific needs of the project:
-Survey of State-of-the-art respective;
-Analysis of potential solutions;
-Development of a proposal/solution;
-Critical assessment and evaluation of the developed proposal/solution;
In the end, the student will always produce a written report of the conducted work.
It will depend on specific practice and additional training needs.
Basic:
CB7- That the students know how to apply the acquired knowledge and their ability to solve problems in new or little-known environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their area of study.
CB8: That students are able to integrate knowledge and face the complexity of formulating judgments based on information that, being incomplete or limited, includes reflections on the social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgments.
Transversal:
CT1. Practice the profession with a clear awareness of its human, economic, legal and ethical dimension and with a clear commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
CT2- Capacity for teamwork, organization and planning.
General:
CG2. Ability to analyze the needs of a company in the field of computer vision and determine the best technological solution for it.
CG4. Capacity for critical analysis and rigorous evaluation of technologies and methodology.
A work plan will be agreed with the bidding entities and must be approved by the CAM.
Each student will have academic tutoring and tutoring in the company / research center that will ensure the correct development of the practice.
The main tasks of the work include the comprehension of the problem, the formalization of the problem, the study of appropriate methodologies, the development and design of a proposal/solution to the problem, an evaluation and a critical analysis of the obtained results, and conclusions. It will be encouraged that the External Practices serve as an adaptation of the students to real work environments, and as a preamble for the realization of the Master's Thesis, in that case, rather than providing solutions, it would seek to make proposals to develop in the Master's Thesis.
