Expository classes will consist basically of lectures given by the lecturer, dedicated to the presentation of the theoretical, conceptual and methodological framework of the subject.
The interactive classes will seek greater student involvement through the development of a student-centred teaching methodology based on case studies, project analysis and problem solving. All student tasks (study, assignments, computer use, projects, readings, presentations, exercises, practicals...) will be guided by the lecturer both in the classroom and in tutorial sessions. In these sessions, students will be attended to discuss specific issues related to their homework or to try to solve any other difficulty of the student or group of students related to the subject.
The assessment will be based on the verification of the effective development of the competences. Specifically, each student's grade will be obtained through class attendance (maximum 1,5 points, 15%), continuous assessment (maximum 6 points, 60%) and a final exam which consists of a written work of critical analysis in the preparation of a topic of a subject (maximum 2,5 points, 25%).
Continuous assessment will be based on the student's participation in the classroom, and on the oral presentation and discussion of the critical analysis of an E.S.O. teaching topic (maximum 3 points), and on the development of a class framed within the aforementioned E.S.O. topic (maximum 3 points).
Students who have dispensation of class attendance (instruction Nº 1/2017 da Secretaría Xeral da USC), must attend between a minimum of 5 h and the maximum of classroom hours of the subject. They must carry out the same activities as the rest of the students. The qualification of each student will be obtained in the same way as indicated above for the rest of the students.
In cases of fraudulent completion of exercises or tests, the provisions of the “Regulations for evaluating the academic performance of students and reviewing grades” will apply.
Classroom hours:
Lectures: 15 hours
Interactive classes: 20 hours
Tutorials: 5 hours
Total face-to-face hours: 40 hours (students who are granted dispensation from class attendance may reduce their attendance to a minimum of 5 face-to-face hours. However, it is in their interest to attend as many classroom hours as possible. They must carry out the continuous assessment activities scheduled for all students, and the final exam).
Personal work of the student:
Hours of self-study: 40 hours
Hours for preparation of assignments, oral and written presentations, debates: 45 hours.
Total non-attendance hours: 85 hours (students with dispensation of attendance will have 120 hours).
Total hours of student work = 125 hours
Se recomienda la inmersión en la bibliografía recomendada, con el objetivo de poder suscitar dudas y preguntas en las sesiones presenciales. El carácter activo de la metodología requiere el protagonismo del alumnado en su propio aprendizaje.
