Con07: Know and interpret the structure, organization, transmission, expression, regulation and evolution of genetic material.
Con09: Identify and relate the components of the immune system, its structure, function and mechanisms of action.
H/D06: Analyze and critically evaluate the genetic, molecular and biochemical markers associated with different pathologies and traits of interest.
H/D07: Design and execute immunochemical techniques and interpret the results.
H/D08: Plan and use the main experimental methods aimed at the analysis of biological activity, isolation techniques, characterization of biological molecules, development of therapeutic systems and evaluation of active substances.
Comp01: Develop the ability to properly organize and plan work, based on a synthesis and analysis that allows decision-making.
Comp07: Use the basic tools of information and communication technologies.
The achievement of the basic training of the student will be carried out through expository teaching, interactive teaching and the completion of assignments.
The expository teaching will be carried out through master classes (30 hours), where the theoretical foundations of the subject will be explained with the help of audiovisual and other media that the teacher deems appropriate. These classes acquire a special relevance due to the fact that the students have little knowledge related to the subject. The active participation of the student will be sought, who will be encouraged to intervene continuously.
Interactive teaching will be carried out through laboratory practices and seminars in which works will be presented.
The practices of the subject (15 h), of compulsory attendance, will serve to illustrate the theoretical contents of the subject and will be fundamentally oriented towards the student acquiring skills and practical experiences. Basic immunological laboratory techniques will be used.
The seminars, compulsory attendance, will allow individual or group activities to be proposed that will enhance the participation of students from a critical and argumentative approach. At the same time, the limitation in terms of the number of students attending the seminars will allow favoring interventions at the individual level from different perspectives or orientations for the topics worked on, which will facilitate the acquisition of very useful skills for achieving the objectives. fixed.
Finally, tutorials will be held to clarify particular problems of each student and facilitate continuous monitoring of the subject.
In addition, the students will compulsorily carry out group work, they will expose the contents with audiovisual and blackboard support, and finally they will discuss said contents in a critical and constructive manner.
The USC Virtual Campus will be used at all times to support teaching. The virtual course allows students enrolled in the subject to access all the content taught by the teacher, as well as to have information related to the subject, programs, timetables, seminars, tutorials, etc.
For the evaluation of the subject, four sections will be taken into account: theoretical exam, laboratory practices, presentation of work and active participation in classes and debates.
The final exam (70% of the final grade) will be a single exam, whose completion date is assigned by the Center and is known before the start of the academic year. It will consist of two parts: the first includes multiple choice questions and the second includes several short questions. The exam completion time will be 2 hours.
Competencies evaluated: Con07, Con09.
Laboratory practices (10% of the final grade). It will be evaluated by assessing the work attitude in the laboratory and by taking a written exam at the end of the practices.
Competencies evaluated: H/D07, H/D08.
Presentation of works (10% of the final grade). The written presentation of the work and the oral presentation will be valued.
Competencies evaluated: Comp01, Comp07.
Continuous evaluation (10% of the final grade). Active participation in class and participation in debates will be evaluated.
Competencies evaluated: Con09, H/D06.
In cases of fraudulent completion of exercises or tests, the provisions established in the Regulations for evaluating the academic performance of students and reviewing grades will apply
Hours of face-to-face classes and student work (non-face-to-face).
Expository teaching:
Total hours: 99
Attendance: 30% = 30 hours
Non-face-to-face 70% = 69 hours
Practices:
Total hours: 30
Attendance: 50% = 15 hours
Non-face-to-face 50% = 15 hours
Seminars (includes Works)
Total hours: 9
Attendance: 33% = 3 hours
Non-face-to-face 66% = 6 hours
Tutorials in small groups
Total hours: 12
Attendance: 33% = 3 hours
Non-face-to-face 66% = 9 hours
TOTAL
Total hours: 150
Contact hours: 51
Non-contact hours: 99
Attendance at theoretical classes and resolution of doubts in tutorials is recommended.
Bring the subject up to date and delve into the contents presented in the theory classes using the recommended bibliography.
Regularly consult the course developed in the Virtual Classroom.
Consult any questions with the teacher.
The subject is taught in the two official languages of the community, Spanish and Galician.
The 2nd opportunity qualification will be made based on the results obtained in a final exam similar to that done in the 1st opportunity. The other sections subject to grading will also be taken into account (practices, assignments and continuous evaluation), whose grade will be maintained on both occasions of each call.
Only students who have not carried out any activity during the course will be classified as "Not presented".
