After passing Bioinorganic Chemistry, students should be able to:
To know essential inorganic elements, toxic ones, and those of pharmaceutical importance.
To know the fundamental functions of biologically relevant metals.
To understand the mechanisms of toxicity of heavy metals, as well as some therapeutic techniques used against toxicity, and the uses of metals in therapy and clinical diagnosis.
Introduction to bioinorganic chemistry. Chemical elements and living beings.
Bioinorganic of iron. I. Transport and storage of iron and dioxygen.
Bioinorganic of iron II. Electronic transference and redox enzymatic processes.
Bioinorganic of copper.
Bioinorganic of zinc.

SC12- Ability to relate structure and reactivity of the main classes of metallo-biomolecules and the chemistry of the main biological processes which they are involved.
SC13- Being able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of essential facts, concepts, principles and theories related to the areas of chemistry
A) Expository classes in large group (CE): Lesson taught by the teacher that can have different formats (theory, problems and / or example, ...). The teacher can count on the support of audiovisual and computer media.
B) Small group interactive clases (S): Theoretical / practical class in which the applications of the theory, problems, exercises, supervision of works, are proposed and solved, etc. The student can actively participate in these classes in different ways: delivery of exercises to the teacher, resolution of questions, etc. The teacher can count on the support of audiovisual and computer media. Tests will be included for the evaluation, so the non-attendance will affect it.
C) Tutorials in very small groups.
Clarification of doubts about theory or problems, exercises, readings or other proposed tasks ...
D) The student will find supporting material in the Virtual Classroom
1. Attendance at classes is compulsory.
2. The assessment will consist of two parts:
2.1. Continuous assessment (35%), which will be based on the tests or exercises carried out and / or delivered to the teacher
2.2. Final exam (65%).
For the cases of fraudulent execution of exercises or tests, Regulations for the evaluation of the academic performance will be applied to the students and the revision of marks
