The aim of the Human Resources Management course is to offer students a broad vision of the importance of leading and managing people in the business environment. From a strategic approach, the content of the subject focuses on the raison d'être of human resources, the objectives and functions of the human resources area in the business environment. Thus, this subject is aimed at the students acquiring the necessary skills and competences, the knowledge and basic concepts for them to know, learn and value the Human Resources Management.

Contribution to the general and specific competences of the degree program.
GC2 - Locate, analyze, synthesize and manage different sources of information.

Specific competences of the subject:
Recognition of globalization and influence in the management of organizations.
Evaluation of the relevance of the human resources management function.
Identification of human resources management activities.
Development of skills related to the performance of human resources management activities.
The sessions dedicated to lectures will be used to introduce the basic contents of the topics that make up the program, highlighting the particularly relevant aspects and the relationships between them. In the interactive sessions, students will try to apply the theoretical concepts presented in the lectures. These sessions will be aimed at solving and debating cases and practical exercises, press releases or educational videos, among others. The aim is to improve the students' ability to recognize and define the problems faced by companies in the field of human resources management and to be able to make the most appropriate decisions. Another aspect to highlight is the promotion of group work. Although all the activities have a part of individual work, the sharing and the search for agreements in small groups before the general debate constitute an important part of the work to be carried out in these sessions. The presentation of individual or group work contributes to the development of argumentation and communication skills.
The expository and interactive sessions will take place in person during the official timetable published by the center.
The participation in the expository and interactive sessions will be complemented by the students' personal work, which may include, among others, information and bibliographic material search activities, reading of the corresponding material and elaboration of individual or collaborative work. This autonomous work will be guided by the teacher in the hours destined to tutorials, which will be used to solve doubts and problems faced by the students in the teaching-learning process. The tutorials will also serve as a feedback channel on the results obtained.
The tutorials will be mainly face-to-face, although they can be partially carried out virtually, both synchronously (through the institutional platform MS Teams) and asynchronously (virtual campus or institutional e-mail). In any case, they will be developed in the usual timetable officially published by the teaching staff.
The development of the subject will be carried out with the support of the virtual classroom created for this purpose on the Moodle platform. Tasks may be enabled in the virtual classroom of the subject with date and time limit for the delivery of cases, assignments or exercises.
The continuous evaluation will collect the grade derived from all the activities developed by the students (active participation in the analysis of cases, debate and commentary of readings, articles or press releases, presentation and exhibition of works, etc.).
For the cases of fraudulent performance of exercises or tests will apply the provisions of the Regulations for the evaluation of the academic performance of the student and the review of qualifications.
To pass the subject there are two opportunities. Students who do not pass the subject in the first opportunity will have the right to a second opportunity (recovery). The evaluation system for these two opportunities, both for first-time students and for repeating students, is described below:
First ordinary opportunity. Continuous evaluation, combined with a final test.
1. Continuous evaluation: 40% of the score. Resolution and participation in the analysis of cases, discussion of readings, completion and presentation of assignments, questionnaires and other activities related to the expository and interactive sessions, as well as attitude and behavior in class. In this part the following competences will be evaluated: CG2, CG5, CG6, CG7, CE5.
2. Final exam: 60% of the score. Compulsory test in which the knowledge and competences acquired during the four-month period will be evaluated. Weight in the final qualification: 60%. In this part the following competences will be evaluated: CG2, CG5, CE5.
In order to add to the grade of the exam the score achieved in the continuous assessment, students must achieve a minimum grade of 3 points out of 6 in the final exam. The aggregate grade must be equal to or higher than 5 points out of 10 to pass the subject. Students who do not obtain any score related to the activities carried out in the expository and interactive sessions will only be able to obtain a maximum of 6 points.
Second opportunity (recovery). In the second opportunity of recovery, the same evaluation system will be applied as in the first opportunity. In other words, a new final exam will be given with the weighting established for the first opportunity, which will be added (if it reaches a minimum of 3 out of 6) to the score obtained in the continuous evaluation.
The evaluation system is the same for both first-time and repeat students.
According to the Permanence Regulations in force at USC for Bachelor and Master studies (art. 5.2), the mere attendance and/or participation in any of the activities included in the evaluation will mean that the student's final grade will be different from NON PRESENTED.
Students who were granted dispensation of attendance following the Instruction nº 1/2017 of the General Secretariat on dispensation of class attendance in certain circumstances will be evaluated with a specific final exam that will be 100% of the grade.
The course is 6 credits and each credit is equivalent to 25 hours. The working hours are distributed as follows:
- Presence (hours of expository teaching, interactive teaching, tutorials and evaluation): 60 hours.
- Personal work of the students: 90 hours. The distribution includes individual or group autonomous study (45 hours) and various activities outside the classroom (45 hours): readings, assignments, preparation of presentations, resolution of cases, etc.
To maximize learning, it is recommended that students regularly attend the expository and interactive sessions, actively participate in all the activities proposed by the faculty and consult the basic bibliography and other recommended material. The tutorials are a useful resource that students should use as often as necessary. The access to the virtual campus to be informed of different issues that arise during the course and to review complementary material before classes facilitates student participation and their ability to acquire knowledge.
