The transfer of knowledge from the university to the economic and social environment has a considerable track record in the field of Experimental and Technological Sciences. However, despite the lack of specific transfer programmes in the areas of Social, Human, Legal and Artistic Sciences, the transfer potential of these disciplines is becoming increasingly evident.
These areas are generators of knowledge which, through appropriate programmes, can give rise to results transferable to companies or public entities, and the creation of new companies based on this knowledge. These collaborative relationships can generate new economic activities and have a very significant social impact. The significant scientific output of many research groups in these areas suggests that there are unexplored opportunities for researchers in the social sciences, law and humanities to transfer the results of their research to companies and entities outside the academic environment.
Moreover, the need for a social and humanistic counterpoint and complement to many current developments in the experimental sciences makes their contribution essential for the complex changes that are currently taking place. The areas of Social, Human, Legal and Artistic Sciences require processes of valorisation and transfer of research results that take into consideration their specificities, and approach the task with their own dynamics and differential characteristics.
The deadline for submitting proposals to the programme Stimulus to the transfer of knowledge in Social, Human, Legal and Artistic Sciences, promoted by the Area of Valorisation, Transfer and Entrepreneurship (AVTE) of the USC, and funded by Banco Santander, aims to facilitate the transfer of research results, generated by the research groups of the USC, to the buyer.
The essential conditions that projects must meet to be eligible are: 1) There must be a previous research record; 2) There must be an opportunity for economic or social application of this new knowledge; 3) Identify critical elements that, if addressed, can activate the transfer process; 4) The proposal must contain a potential recipient or collaborator in the transfer process who is willing to make commitments; 5) The requested budget must be in line with the activities and objectives proposed in the project presented.
The projects will be advised by AVTE's technical staff from the outset.
Project funding will be up to 20,000 euros and the duration of the projects will be between 3 and 9 months.
The deadline for submitting applications for the Stimulus programme for the transfer of knowledge in Social, Human, Legal and Artistic Sciences is 9 February 2024.
