Science in Galician is (even) wiser on Campus Terra

This week, teachers and researchers from the Lugo Campus will be presenting their work at Casa do Saber, as part of DivulgaTerra
Lugo

November isn’t just the month it gets chilly and we start wearing hats and scarves, or when the Christmas lights and decorations take the streets. It is also the time of the year when the light of science in Galician is shed on Campus Terra.

For the sixth consecutive year —and after almost 90 talks and posters—, DivulgaTerra is back. The cycle of scientific dissemination promoted by the Coordination Vice-Chancellorship of the Lugo Campus in collaboration with the USC Linguistic Normalisation Service.

Its main objective is to publicise the projects on which both teachers and part of the young researchers linked to the Lugo campus are working, as well as to promote the use of the Galician language for scientific dissemination. In this sense, the forum is structured in two in-person events at the Casa do Saber in Lugo, on Thursday 18th and 25th November from 19:30 h.

Just like the Perseids in August, this unmissable appointment with science deserves to be marked on your calendar. The event will bring together a total of 20 participants, who will present in talks of just over 10 minutes some of the basics, findings, goals and preliminary conclusions of their work.

Thus, one of the cast members of the first day of DivulgaTerra is the zebrafish, a great ally for the study of human diseases. Other topics that will be discussed are the dangers of red tides, the wonders of meerkats’ noses or the use of drones as a topographic tool.

To discover the full programme and delve into all issues first hand, attend the two days of this new edition, which focuses on the connection between scientific content and our health, behaviours or the quality of the food we eat.

All DivulgaTerra conferences are free to attend until seating capacity is reached, and all COVID-19 regulations will be complied with. Enjoy the delicious and flavourful taste of scientific dissemination in Galician at Campus Terra!
