Knowledge
(CN01) Possess and understand knowledge that provides a basis or opportunity to be original in the development or application of ideas, often in a research context.
(CN02) Acquire advanced knowledge and demonstrate, in a scientific and technological or highly specialized research context, a detailed and well-founded understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects and work methodology in one or more fields of study in Chemical Engineering.
(CN04) Acquire advanced knowledge for the design and holistic understanding of chemical processes, from both a fundamental and practical perspective.
Competence
(CP03) Design products, processes, systems and services of the chemical industry, as well as the optimization of others already developed, taking as a technological basis the various areas of chemical engineering, including transport processes and phenomena, separation operations and engineering. of chemical, nuclear, electrochemical and biochemical reactions.
(CP04) Design, build and implement methods, processes and facilities for the comprehensive management of supplies and waste, solid, liquid and gaseous, in industries, with the capacity to evaluate their impacts and risks.
(CP05) Direct and supervise all types of facilities, processes, systems and services in the different industrial areas related to chemical engineering.
Skills
(HD02) Adapt to structural changes in society motivated by factors or phenomena of an economic, energy or natural nature, to solve the resulting problems and provide technological solutions with a high commitment to sustainability.
(HD10) Develop capabilities associated with teamwork (cooperation, leadership, active listening), and lead and define multidisciplinary teams capable of resolving technical changes and management needs in national and international contexts.
(HD11) Master time management and critical situations.
During the teaching of the subject, use will be made of the USC Virtual Classroom through the Moodle application with the following objectives:
• Provide information about the subject (teaching schedule, schedules, exams, various announcements, etc.)
• Provide the necessary materials for classes (presentations of the topics, scientific articles, etc.).
• Serve as a communication tool with students through the news forum.
• Propose tasks.
• Pose evaluation tests.
• Include access to videoconference sessions through Teams (if applicable for individual tutorials).
Lectures: Master class with audiovisual support (slides and videos). They will be used to present the fundamental theoretical concepts.
CN01, CN02, CN04
Interactive teaching: With two formats: Seminar and work session in the Computer Classroom, where practical cases will be analyzed with the support of engineering documents, technical guides and computer tools.
CP03, CP04, HD02.
Group tutoring: It will be used to present the work done in groups. The work will consist of developing, based on a scenario of loss of containment of an industrial facility, a proposal for risk assessment and management to propose improvements in the industrial safety of the facility by applying the methodologies studied in the lectures and interactive classes. CP03, CP04, CP05, HD02, HD10, HD11
Students will carry out group work on which:
1. The corresponding reports that are part of the continuous evaluation will be delivered. Delivery will be done through tasks created in the subject's Virtual Classroom.
2. A presentation will be made using group tutoring in which the following will be observed: The quality of the presentation and design of the presentation (slides), as well as the content regarding Industrial Safety (depth, capacity for analysis and synthesis).
Rating distribution:
a) Exam 50%. Minimum to pass the exam 50%
b) Group work/memories 40% (20%;/20%). Minimum to pass the group work/memories section 50%.
c) Tutorials/Teacher's report 10%.
Attendance at computer classroom classes, group tutorials (oral presentation) is mandatory.
The distribution of grades for the first and second opportunities is the same. Therefore, the grades in sections b) and c) are kept for the second opportunity, that is, students who attend the second opportunity must take the exam again. The exam (in person) will consist of theoretical questions, numerical exercises and questions on practical cases developed in the seminars and Computer Class.
Evaluation by competencies:
-Evaluation by exam: CN01, CN02, CN04, CP03, CP04
-Group work evaluation: CP03, CP04, CP05, HD02, HD10, HD11
-Evaluation in Group Tutoring: HD10, HD11
The final exam will be a multiple choice questionnaire on the different contents taught, it may contain calculation questions with a choice of multi-option solution. The wrong answers subtract (two wrong answers subtract one correct one).
The group work report will be delivered prior to its oral presentation through the Virtual Classroom Tasks module of the subject.
In cases of fraudulent completion of exercises or tests, the provisions of the Regulations for evaluating the academic performance of students and reviewing grades will apply.
