The following objectives are to be achieved by teaching this subject:
• Acquisition of the basic terminology of the different types of research in Psychology.
• Provide basic knowledge about the different methods and research designs in Psychology.
• Introduce the student to the philosophy of research, so that they learn to plan and structure research work, choosing the most appropriate method, design and techniques.
• That Psychology students are able to read and critically analyze any report or scientific communication.

Specific competences of the degree to which the subject contributes:
CE1 •Understand the functions, characteristics, contributions and limitations of the different theoretical models of Psychology.
CE6 •Understand the research methods and designs as well as the data analysis techniques typical of Psychology.
CE9• Identify the relevant characteristics of the behavior of individuals, groups, organizations and contexts through the methods, techniques and instruments of psychological assessment.
CE11• Select and administer techniques and instruments specific to Psychology.
CE12• Define the objectives, prepare the intervention plan and techniques based on the needs and demands of the recipients, as well as evaluate the results.
CE14• Prepare psychological reports in different areas of action addressed to recipients and other professionals.
CE15• Adjust to the deontological obligations of Psychology.
In the EXHIBIT SESSIONS, the different topics that make up the program (topics 1 to 8) will be exposed (addressed, explained), distributed throughout the second semester in two weekly sessions, with a duration of 1h 10m.
INTERACTIVE SESSIONS whose purpose will be to complement the contents of the expositive classes through practical applications. They will be developed in a laboratory of the Faculty with computer equipment in which the statistical package SPSS will be used. These sessions will last 1:30 hours, which each group will attend every other week or every week (as indicated throughout the course).
For the follow-up of the expositive and interactive classes, the students will have support material prepared by the teachers and other documents that will be provided, sufficiently in advance, in the Virtual Campus of the subject. In addition, they will be able to consult the basic bibliography of free access or in electronic format, available through the services of the Faculty's library.
Self-employment activities include:
a) Reading of materials, both basic and complementary
b) Preparation of an investigation report
c) Hours of individual study for the adequate acquisition of skills
d) Tracking and searching for information on the internet
At the end of the course, a final exam will be held, on the date indicated by the official call. Said exam will consist of two parts: the first one will be an objective test where the theoretical contents will be evaluated, while the second part will be evaluated the practical contents of the subject. To pass the subject it will be essential to pass the theoretical part as well as the practical part independently
Estudents who have a recognized teaching exemption will be examined in the same way as the estudent netwok.
The subject consists of 6 credits (ECTS), which corresponds to an estimated total of 150 hours of student work, distributed as follows:
-Attendance to face-to-face and/or virtual activities (teaching, evaluation): 50 hours
-Non-contact work: 100 h. This must be distributed in advance preparation for the follow-up of the classes, readings, resolution of exercises and study of materials.
AUTONOMOUS WORK OF THE STUDENT. In addition to attending the activities indicated in the previous paragraphs, the student must dedicate time to reading complementary materials, carrying out practical exercises, and studying the contents that are developed during the course. It is necessary for the student to master the theoretical contents necessary for the proper development and use of the interactive sessions.
ATTENDANCE TO CLASSES AND ACTIVITIES: is considered fundamental to be able to achieve the objectives of the subject.
TUTORIALS: the teachers of the subject are available in tutorials (through the means, places and times that will be indicated at the beginning of the course) to answer questions and any question regarding the development of the subject and its contents.
Knowledge of basic data analysis techniques and their execution in the SPSS package.
It is essential to take the matter during the day and, when appropriate, review the content that will later be addressed in class.
