Knowledge
Con01. To know the biomedical sciences on which Dentistry is based to ensure correct oral and dental care. These sciences should include appropriate content of:
• Embryology, anatomy, histology and physiology of the human body.
• Genetics, Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology.
• Microbiology and immunology.
Con02. To know the morphology and function of the stomatognathic system, including appropriate contents of specific embryology, anatomy, histology and physiology.
Competences
Instrumental:
Comp01. Ability to analyze and synthesize.
Comp03. Oral and written communication in one's own language.
Comp04. Knowledge of a second language.
Comp06. Information management skills (ability to search for and analyze information from a variety of sources).
Interpersonal:
Comp09. Critical and self-critical capacity.
Comp10. Teamwork.
Systemic:
Comp18. Research skills.
Comp19. Autonomous learning capacity
Skills or abilities
H/D07. To promote the autonomous learning of new knowledge and techniques and the motivation for quality.
H/D08. Know how to share information with other health professionals and work in a team.
H/D11. Understand the basic biomedical sciences on which Dentistry is based to ensure correct oral and dental care.
H/D12. Understand and recognize the normal structure and function of the stomatognathic system, at the molecular, cellular, tissue and organic levels, in the different stages of life.
H/D18. Know, critically assess and know how to use clinical and biomedical information sources to obtain, organize, interpret and communicate scientific and health information.
H/D19. Know the scientific method and have a critical capacity to assess established knowledge and new information. Be able to formulate hypotheses, collect and critically evaluate information for problem-solving, following the scientific method.
The contents will be developed interactively primarily through the presentation and discussion of work produced by small groups of students.
Hands-on activities will be developed along the teaching period in the computer lab and in the University Hospital and the Laboratory Skills.
Using the e-classroom.
Preparation and presentation of work in small groups.
Use of the virtual classroom: a tutorial forum will be enabled in the virtual classroom of the subject, for specific questions on the agenda. The virtual classroom will be used to carry out non-contact activities, using the available institutional tools.
Continuous assessment will be made by assessing:
1) Active participation in classroom activities 25%
2) Making, presentation and discussion of work 50%
3) Active participation in practice 25%
The percentages indicate the weight of each of the sections in the overall rating, obtaining at least 50% to pass the subject still needed.
The course has a total of 25 contact hours distributed as follows:
Lectures 4
Seminars 12
Practice 2
Laboratory 2
Tutorial 5
The personal work 50 hours will be distributed at:
Individual Assignment 8
Workgroups 24
Resolution Problems 4
Developing practical memory 2
Study and content development recommended in the tutorials 12
Although not essential is desirable that students have followed the compulsory subject "Morphology and Function Stomatognathic Apparatus" as well as the basic material "Human Physiology."
