The course is structured around the explanation of each of the topics that make up the programme and the completion of interactive tasks that aim to reinforce the knowledge and skills acquired and even test the usefulness of some management tools.
Similarly, in order to facilitate the understanding of the subject matter taught, additional information (tables, graphs, etc.) will be provided throughout the course via Moodle platform (VIRTUAL CAMPUS) as a study aid. The same VIRTUAL CAMPUS will be used as a repository of material for interactive sessions.
Given the practical nature of the contents, especially in the second part of the course, the participation of the students in the interactive activities is a critical factor in ensuring a good acquisition of the competences.
The order of the contents will be indicated in an extended version of this syllabus, which will be available on the Virtual Campus for all enrolled students.
Expository and interactive teaching will be face-to-face. Tutorials will be face-to-face, although they may be partly virtual (see below).
Assessment, as described in the following section, will be entirely face-to-face. The delivery of interactive activities will be virtual on certain dates by sending the pdf with the final result - individual or group - of the work.
TUTORIALS
In order to clear up any doubts about the programme and the subject or to resolve any incident related to the evaluation, the following tutorial timetable has been established:
Wednesdays (10am to 2pm) and Thursdays (12pm to 2pm).
This timetable may change during the course and will be communicated in advance (via Virtual Campus), as will the alternative timetable for the tutorials, if necessary.
The tutorials are held in office number 5, located on the ground floor of the main building of the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences. It is also possible to attend tutorials by telematic means, which take place at the same time as the face-to-face tutorials. Appointments can be requested by e-mail at the following address: ramon.bouzas [at] usc.es (ramon[dot]bouzas[at]usc[dot]es)
In any case, please respect the timetable of the tutorials.
The evaluation will try to stimulate individual-group interaction from the beginning of the sessions. It is organised as described below:
- Those who regularly complete the interactive tasks (at least 4 out of 6) will have access to evaluation mode A.
- Those who do not complete the interactive tasks will have direct access to assessment mode B.
Taking into account the specific planning of the course, each student may inform the teacher at the beginning of the course which mode is chosen.
MODE A
The assessment will be a combination of individual and group exercises. In order to carry out the group exercises, it is necessary that the students organise their distribution from the first sessions, since the composition of the working group will be maintained throughout the course.
1) Group exercises (interactive) (10% of the final mark): These are exercises related to the development of the interactive sessions. In order to carry them out, students will have to form working groups (between 4 and 5 people per group), whose composition will be communicated during the first two weeks of the course.
2) Exercises (interactive) (30% of the final mark): These are individual exercises related to the development of the interactive lessons. The individual or group realisation will be indicated by the teacher. Practical exercises must be handed in on the dates specified by the teacher. Late submissions will not be accepted.
3) Final exam (70% of the final mark): This consists of a theoretical/practical written exam. The structure of the content of this exam and its marking will be communicated in advance. It will be necessary to obtain 50% of the marks in this exam in order to pass the subject.
If a minimum of 5 points is not achieved in the tests as a whole, the subject will be considered to have been failed. In the case of access to the second opportunity, the grade of the interactive exercises will be maintained.
MODE B
The assessment of students who do not have regular access to the interactive activities will be individual and based on the completion of a final test. The maximum mark to be awarded in the examination will be "Notable" (7 points).
Plagiarism and improper use of technology in the completion of assignments or tests: Cases of cheating in assignments or tests will be dealt with in accordance with the "Regulations for the Assessment of Students' Academic Performance and the Review of Grades".
According to the structure, the dedication to the course is estimated to be as follows: the study of the contents of the expository sessions requires a minimum of 12 hours per month (45 hours in the total of the subject); the performance of interactive activities described in the section "Methodology and Evaluation" will require a minimum of 10 hours per month.
In general, it is recommended to follow the sequence of development of the course as described in the section "Methodology" and to ask the lecturer in good time if you have any doubts about the content or the assessment procedure.
In addition to following the weekly contents provided by the teacher, the use of the suggested bibliographic material and the use of various sources of information and electronic resources is recommended.
