This Master's degree covers the main cultural manifestations, both literary and artistic, in their historical context. We aim to provide a multidisciplinary specialization in the European Middle Ages. This Master’s is unique in the Spanish University System.

The city of Santiago, the terminal point of the famous St. James’ Way and a UNESCO “World Heritage Site”, is excellently placed to offer a multidisciplinary, research-based Master’s degree in the field of medieval studies, and boasts a comprehensive curricular organization.

El Máster está dirigido fundamentalmente a egresados que proceden de las titulacións de Historia, Historia del Arte y Filología, interesados en ahondar en la Edad Media de una manera interdisciplinar. De todas formas, su estructura facilita el acceso de cualquier graduado de otras titulacións, sobre todo del campo de las Humanidades o de las Ciencias Sociales, que deseen completar su formación en el ámbito de los estudios medievales.

El coordinador del título facilitará a los alumnos información sobre los contenidos de las materias, los procesos administrativos, contenidos de la web propia y del centro, proceso de defensa del TFM, etc. en sesiones informativas colectivas e individuales. Además, los coordinadores de cada materia atenderán los problemas y las dudas surgidas sobre cualquier aspecto de esta. Por otra parte, el coordinador de Prácticas Externas está disponible para el asesoramiento relacionado con la oferta de entidades, solicitudes, convocatorias, informes, etc.

El primer día del curso se organizará una sesión informativa especial a cargo de la coordinadora del Máster y de un representante del equipo decanal, en la que se explicarán, sobre todo para los alumnos que provengan de otros centros y universidades, tanto las normas generales de funcionamiento de la Facultad (aulas de informática, préstamo bibliotecario, salas de estudio, ubicación de los despachos de los profesores, etc.) como las orientaciones generales sobre el plan de estudios del Máster.

Para el caso de los estudiantes que acceden a la USC, la ORE es la responsable de realizar el proceso de acogida. Esta Oficina expide distintas credenciales (matrícula, cursos de español, visado de estudios, etc.). Posteriormente los estudiantes se reúnen con:

a) El Coordinador Académico de Movilidad del Centro para confirmar las asignaturas a cursar en la USC, de acuerdo con lo establecido en su compromiso de estudios o acuerdo académico.

b) El Responsable de la Unidad Administrativa de Apoyo a la Gestión de Centros para que le informe de todo lo relacionado con la docencia y distintos aspectos organizativos del Centro.

Access

Para acceder aos ensinos oficiais de Máster será necesario estar en posesión de:
A.1. Un título universitario oficial español.
A.2. Un título expedido por unha institución de educación superior pertencente a outro Estado integrante do Espazo Europeo de Educación Superior que faculte no mesmo para o acceso a ensinos de Máster.
A.3. Un título pertencente a un sistema educativo alleo ao Espazo Europeo de Educación, previa comprobación pola Universidade de que o citado título acredita un nivel de formación equivalente aos correspondentes títulos universitarios oficiais españois e faculta no país expedidor do título para o acceso a ensinos de posgrao.
A.4. Un título superior das Ensinanzas Artísticas Superiores do sistema educativo español.

1. Licenciados/as y Graduados/as en Filología (en todas sus especialidades), Historia, Historia del Arte y Humanidades.

2. Licenciados/as y Graduados/as en Geografía y en Filosofía; Diplomados en Documentación.

3. Otras titulaciones de las ramas de Humanidades o Cienciais Sociales y Jurídicas.

- Poseer y comprender conocimientos que aporten una base u oportunidad de ser originales en el desarrollo y/o aplicación de ideas, a menudo en un contexto de investigación.
- Que los estudiantes sepan aplicar los conocimientos adquiridos y su capacidad de resolución de problemas en entornos nuevos o poco conocidos dentro de contextos más amplios (o multidisciplinares) relacionados con su área de estudio;
- Que los estudiantes sean capaces de integrar conocimientos y enfrentarse a la complejidad de formular juicios a partir de una información que, siendo incompleta o limitada, incluya reflexiones sobre las responsabilidades sociales y éticas vinculadas a la aplicación de sus conocimientos y juicios;
- Que los estudiantes sepan comunicar sus conclusiones –y los conocimientos y razones últimas que las sustentan– a públicos especializados y no especializados de un modo claro y sin ambigüedades;
- Que los estudiantes posean las habilidades de aprendizaje que les permitan continuar estudiando de un modo que habrá de ser en gran medida autodirigido o autónomo

- That the students are capable of establishing the appropriate interrelationship between the different subjects that make up the Master.
- That the students have oral and written communicative ability in the dissemination of medieval European heritage.
- That the students know how to apply the specific computing tools, programmes and applications used in medieval studies.
- That the students have the capacity to synthesise and analyse in presenting content.
- That the students are capable of applying critical judgement to the domains of generic and specific bibliography related to the field of medieval studies.
- That the students have the basic skills to apply the acquired knowledge to the evaluation and dissemination of medieval European heritage.

- Adquisición de conocimientos precisos sobre fenómenos relativos a los cambios históricos, artísticos y literarios producidos en Europa durante el período medieval.
- Capacidad para situar en sincronía y diacronía los fenómenos sociales, estéticos y económicos dentro del contexto de la Europa medieval, con juicio para discernir las analogías y diferencias que se producen en las diversas zonas objeto de estudio.
- Capacidad para proponer alternativas viables a cuestiones problemáticas relativas a la investigación en el patrimonio medieval europeo.
- Capacidad para elaborar un discurso histórico, artístico y/o filológico de tipo crítico en cualquier ámbito de la docencia o la investigación.
- Aptitud para promover iniciativas investigadoras que dinamicen a nivel social la valoración del patrimonio cultural medieval.
- Capacidad para dirigir equipos humanos con intereses académicos e investigadores en la cultura medieval y su difusión.
- Habilidad para realizar propuestas nuevas en el ámbito de la conservación e interpretación del patrimonio cultural medieval en sus diversas manifestaciones.
- Dominio de la terminología específica aplicada a la investigación en los estudios medievales.
- Manejo de las nuevas tecnologías de la información y de la comunicación aplicadas al ámbito investigador de los estudios medievales.
- Capacidad para establecer la importancia y prioridad de cuestiones y problemas que surjan durante el ejercicio de la actividad investigadora.
- Hacer posible que los estudiantes con sus investigaciones contribuyan al desarrollo cultural europeo a través de la correcta interpretación y transmisión del patrimonio medieval en sus diversas manifestaciones culturales.
- Contribuir de modo especial al desarrollo de Galicia mediante la correcta valorización, interpretación y contextualización del legado cultural medieval que posee.

Mobility

La movilidad de los/as estudiantes está regulada a través del “Reglamento de intercambios interuniversitarios”. A través de la Oficina de Relaciones Exteriores se gestionan programas de intercambio tanto nacionales (SICUE), como europeos (ERASMUS) y extracomunitarios (intercambios con países de América Latina o países de habla inglesa): Portal Internacional

Internships

El alumnado podrá realizar optativamente prácticas en empresas e instituciones en una amplia y diversa oferta que le permitirán completar su formación y conseguir competencias profesionales según sus intereses.

En la evaluación se tendrá en cuenta la actividad realizada por el alumnado en la empresa o institución en que realizó las prácticas. Para esto la persona que lo tutorice en la entidad remitirá un informe final de su actividad, y el alumno tendrá que elaborar un informe sobre su labor.

Una vez admitido en el Máster, el alumno contará, además de con el asesoramiento de la Coordinadora del mismo, con dos tutores en cada uno de los dos centros responsables de la iniciativa: Facultade de Filoloxía y Facultade de Xeografía e Historia.
