This is an inter-university master's degree between the universities of A Coruña and Vigo and that has a dual aim: training professionals to develop tasks related to Marine Biology to further the training of professionals who are already carrying out these activities so that they can then work at scientific research centres in marine biology or research teams in public or private institutions or companies from the sector.

A) Conocimiento físico-químico del medio oceánico y costero.
B) Conocimiento de la diversidad de los organismos vivos en los ecosistemas marinos, su diversidad genética y sus estrategias adaptativas.
C) Conocimiento y comprensión de la importancia de las interacciones de los organismos marinos y su hábitat.
D) Comprensión del funcionamiento de los ecosistemas marinos y costeros a nivel de poblaciones, comunidades y ecosistemas.
E) Conocimiento de la metodología de investigación en oceanografía biológica.
F) Conocimiento de las técnicas de obtención, registro, procesado, validación y análisis de datos en medio natural y en el laboratorio.
G) Conocimiento de la problemática y los principios de la sostenibilidad en relación con la utilización y explotación de en medio marino.
H) Conocimiento de los principales índices biológicos utilizados cómo herramientas en el control de la calidad de en medio marino.
I) Conocimiento de especies marinas de interés económico, sus características y propiedades.
J) Conocimiento del potencial biotecnológico de los organismos marinos.

Competencias específicas: habilidades
a) Diseño y planificación de los usos del litoral y del medio marino y gestión sostenible de los recursos.
B) Conservación y restauración de la diversidad biológica en los ecosistemas marinos y costeros.
C) Manejo de técnicas instrumentales aplicadas al medio marino.
D) Catalogación, cartografía, evaluación, conservación, restauración y gestión de recursos naturales y biológicos del medio marino.
E) Identificación y evaluación de contaminación orgánica, inorgánica y radiactiva en medio marino.
F) Identificación y evaluación de impactos ambientales en el medio marino. Diagnóstico y solución de problemas. Identificación y evaluación de indicadores de calidad ambiental en el medio marino.
G) Dirección y realización de análisis de biotoxinas marinas.
H) Diseño, planificación, desarrollo, control y gestión de centros de recuperación de especies marinas contaminadas y/o amenazadas.
I) Diseño, planificación, desarrollo, dirección y gestión de instalaciones de acuicultura.
J) Planificación, dirección, gestión y desarrollo de departamentos de calidad, medio ambiente y seguridad de conserveras, industrias pesqueras y depuradoras.
K) Control de calidad de aguas en plantas de producción acuícola y depuradoras.
L) Análisis microbiológicos del agua y de patologías de organismos marinos.
M) Dirección técnica en el análisis de la comunidad microbiana en medio marino.
N) Diseño, planificación, desarrollo, dirección y gestión de acuarios y museos relacionados con el medio marino.
O) Participación en programas de formación y divulgación de conocimientos relacionados con la biología marina y los medios marino y litoral.
P) Impartición de docencia en el ámbito científico en los diferentes niveles educativos.
Q) Planificación, dirección y redacción de informes técnicos sobre cuestiones marinas.
R) Realización de estudios e informes de caracterización económica y social de la actividad productiva pesquera y marisquera para entidades públicas y personales.

Mobility

La movilidad de los/as estudiantes está regulada a través del “Reglamento de intercambios interuniversitarios”. A través de la Oficina de Relaciones Exteriores se gestionan programas de intercambio tanto nacionales (SICUE), como europeos (ERASMUS) y extracomunitarios (intercambios con países de América Latina o países de habla inglesa): Portal Internacional

Internships

Debido al doble perfil del máster, la Comisión Académica del Máster propondrá diferentes opciones para la realización de las practicas externas vinculadas por la temática con la orientación del máster cursada, que permitirán que el alumno desarrolle un itinerario profesionalizante o académico/investigador. Mediante estas prácticas externas se pretende promover el análisis crítico mediante la visualización desde el mundo “real” de los problemas prácticos y cotidianos que surgen dentro del campo de las empresas y los laboratorios marinos.

Los alumnos que opten por el perfil profesional podrán realizar sus prácticas en empresas del sector marino.

El alumno debe realizar un Proyecto Fin de Máster en el que realice un trabajo relacionado con alguno de los aspectos tratados en el Máster. Resulta un trabajo de síntesis de los conocimientos adquiridos y además favorece la planificación y estructuración de un proyecto, con lo que el alumno debe organizar, bajo la supervisión del tutor específico TFM, la estructura y organización de los contenidos y resultados obtenidos. Si el perfil seleccionado es académico-investigador, el tutor debe ser un Doctor designado por la Comisión Académica del Máster.
