Information about the degree in Modern Languages and Literatures

The aim of the degree in Modern Languages and Literatures is to train graduates who have mastered knowledge, scientific methods and analytical resources for the advanced linguistic and literary study of the German, French, Italian or Portuguese language, or of the Romance bloc as a whole, and of the corresponding literatures and cultures.

To this end, the degree programme offers the following alternatives or specialisations:

The core of each of these is a major, made up of 20 six-credit subjects grouped into modules.

On the other hand, the basic training module, in addition to homogenising the initial level of the language corresponding to the chosen pathway and providing basic training in a second and third language, is designed to provide the knowledge and methodological tools necessary to approach, in general, the study of languages and literatures.

Finally, through the complementary and optional modules, students can acquire basic or intermediate level training in a second or even a third language and its literature, in General Linguistics, in Literary Theory or in Romance Philology, or combine initial training in one of these disciplines with an in-depth study of the contents studied in the major.
