CAPD

The Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program (CAPD)

The CAPD is the body responsible for the academic oversight of the doctoral program. It is in charge of the design, implementation, updating, organization, coordination, and quality assurance of the program. Additionally, it supervises the doctoral student's research progress and is responsible for authorizing the submission and defense of the thesis.

CAPD Functions During the Doctoral Studies Phase

From the submission of your doctoral thesis via the SVA to its defense, the main functions and responsibilities of the CAPD include:

  1. Approval of the Research and Training Plan (PIF).
  2. Approval of the language in which the thesis will be written.
  3. Verification that the thesis and related documentation comply with applicable regulations.
  4. Review of the scientific contributions included in the doctoral thesis.
  5. Validation of any special mentions requested for the thesis.
  6. Assurance of the integrity, legality, and quality of the doctoral work.

CAPD Functions for the Authorization of the Thesis Defense

  • Monitor compliance with deadlines
  • Manage external expert reports
  • Issue a formal report on the thesis
  • Propose members of the thesis examination committee
  • Oversee compliance with requirements for processing the defense

For the International Doctorate Mention

  • Authorize research stays in advance
  • Validate completed research stays
  • Supervise the language of the thesis
  • Manage and review reports from international experts

For the Industrial Doctorate Mention

  • Endorse the initial report of the industrial research project
  • Validate the agreement with the collaborating entity
  • Oversee compliance with formal requirements

For Theses Under Joint Supervision (Cotutelle)

  • Approve joint supervision agreements with foreign universities
  • Validate the cotutelle agreement
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including research stays and other requirements
