The cost of living in Galician cities is the average for the State as a whole.  Santiago de Compostela and Lugo are among the most accessible Spanish university cities for students. With a monthly budget between €750 and €900 per month you will have enough to live on.

The most onerous cost is that of housing, significantly higher in Compostela as it is one of the main tourist destinations in Galicia. You can significantly reduce this cost by means of shared rent or by accessing a place in the University Residence System. The average rent in Compostela is 440 euros/month, and in Lugo, 369 euros/month.

Santiago and Lugo have farmers’ markets and food markets, where you can buy quality food at very affordable prices. In both cities you can also find daily specials menus in restaurants from 10 to 15 euros, and the university canteens provide a varied offer from around 6 euros. Consult the fees for university canteens.
