The aim of the master's degree courses is for students to acquire advanced training of a specialised or multidisciplinary nature, for academic or professional specialisation or to begin research work.
In order to access the master's degree courses at the USC, one of these conditions must be met:
- You must have an official graduate degree.
- You must have an official Spanish university degree –graduate, architect, engineer, engineer or technician, architect or technician, undergraduate or any other equivalent official degree–.
- You must have a degree issued by a higher education institution of another State in the European Higher Education Area that allows access to master's degree courses in that country.
- Those who hold a degree issued by a higher education institution in a country outside the European Higher Education Area can access postgraduate studies if they meet any of the following requirements:
- They have a degree issued by a foreign university that is validated or declared a Spanish degree that allows access to postgraduate studies.
- They have a degree issued by a foreign university, outside the European Higher Education Area, without validation, provided that it is previously certified that said university degree accredits a level of education equivalent to that of the Spanish undergraduate degree and that it authorises access to postgraduate studies in the issuing country.
The USC may set specific requirements and merit assessment criteria for access to each master's degree.
In the master's degree courses where there are places reserved for students with foreign studies with access outside the European Higher Education Area, admission and enrolment for these places will be governed by the early call for the academic year 2022/23.
Students with foreign access studies from countries belonging to the European Higher Education Area, or from outside it, may attend the general process of assigning places under the same conditions as the rest of students, but must present the declaration of equivalence of the average score in their file, which is obtained through the service that the Ministry with competencies in Education has active.
To gain entry to the USC master's degree courses, if you come from an educational system of the European Higher Education Area, you will not have to validate or request the declaration of equivalence of your access degree, and you will only have to prove that your degree gives access to the master's degree courses in your country of origin. The rest of the students with foreign studies must be in possession of a degree validated or declared equivalent by the Ministry or apply to the USC for recognition of the equivalence of their studies in order to enter into a master's degree.
Your admission and enrolment will be provisional, subject to the granting of equivalence of the access qualification in accordance with article 18.2 of the Law on access to education Royal Decree 822/2021 as well as compliance with the specific requirements established for each master's degree.
For the recognition of equivalence, you must submit at the time of enrolment, if you have not done so before, the corresponding application to the Academic Management Office together with the duly legalized and translated academic documents and, where appropriate, the original documents that prove compliance with the specific requirements.
Remember that a decision rejecting the equivalence of foreign studies taken for admission to the official master's degree courses will result in the annulment of all acts deriving from admission and enrolment. Cancellations will also be made when the specific requirements established for admission to a specific master's degree have not been met.
The general call opens in the month of June. The early call for students with studies outside the European Higher Education Area is published at the beginning of each calendar year, and the deadline for applications is established in the call itself.
You must make your application by meeting the deadlines set through the Virtual Secretary’s Office declaring the data of the academic record of the university degree that gives you access.
Remember that if you have a degree from outside the Spanish educational system, you must previously declare the equivalent average score on the page of the Spanish educational system Ministry of Education to certify your average score on the application. You will also need to digitally attach your degree and certification of your academic record.
You will need to check the admission list in the Virtual Secretary’s Office and the deadline in which you have to enrol. If you are on a waiting list and want to continue in the admission process, you have to confirm the permanence of your application on each of the waiting lists.
The registration will be firm when the veracity of the declared data is verified in accordance with the documentation that you will have to deliver. If you studied your access degree at the USC, you will not be required to submit the documentation relating to the degree.
