End of Degree Project

The Degrees conclude with the preparation and defence of a End of Degree Project (EDP) that must be carried out in the final stage of the studies and will be oriented towards the evaluation of the competences associated with the degree.

The EDP will consist of the preparation of an original academic project in which the knowledge, capacities, competences and skills acquired during the studies carried out in the degree courses are integrated and developed and will at least include tasks of bibliographic search and review, reading and integration of information, writing, presentation and defence.

The curriculum of the Degree in Optics and Optometry indicates the mandatory completion of an EDP of 9 ECTS credits.

The EDP will be oriented towards the evaluation of the following competences associated with the degree:

  • To be able to define the objectives of the work, identifying the problem to be solved or the knowledge objective to be achieved.
  • To be able to design the tasks, organise the steps to follow to achieve the objectives and carry out the work according to the defined plan.
  • To know how to search for and select the relevant information for the case, problem or object of study, from sources at the level of advanced textbooks and incorporating some contributions from specialist scientific texts.
  • To make use of the knowledge acquired through the studies that are relevant to the object of the project and these must be integrated with the new information obtained.
