Note: apart from this general literature, the teacher will recommend other more specialized books, when he deems appropriate .
in this subject the student will acquire or develop a series of generic skills, desirable in any university degree and specific, own of engineering. Within the set of competencies that are designed for this titulation , the following competences will be worked:
• BASIC AND GENERIC SKILLS
CB1.- The students have demonstrated knowledge and understanding in a field of study, that based on general secondary education, it is usually at a level that besides being well supported by advanced textbooks also include some aspects involving knowledge of the forefront of their field of study
CB2.- That the students can apply their knowledge to their work or vocation in a professional manner and have competences which are usually demonstrated through devising and sustaining arguments in solving problems within their field of study.
CB3.- That students have the ability to gather and interpret relevant data (usually within their field of study).
CB5.- That students have developed those skills needed to undertake further studies with a high degree of autonomy.
CG1.- Ability to understand the biological, chemical, physical, mathematical and systems of representation.
CG3.- Knowledge of the degradation processes affecting forest systems and resources (pollution, pests and deseases, fires, etc.) and ability to use the techniques of protection of forest regions, forest hydrological restoration and conservation to biodiversity.
Cross-cutting skills
CT1 - Analytical and synthesis capacity
CT2 - Ability for reasoning and argumentation
CT3 - Individual work capacity, with self-critical attitude
CCT12 - Ability to solve problems by applying your knowledge integrated
•SPECIFIC SKILLS
CEFB4.- Basic knowledge of general chemistry, organic and inorganic chemistry and its applications in enginiering
EXPOSITIVE CLASSES. Duration of approximately 50 minutes.
Exhibition directed by the large group. Along with exposition of knowledge, relating concepts, principles and theories related to wool areas of chemical wool. In the classes questions are asked (inquiring about their previous knowledge for the integration of new knowledge) and doubts are clarified.
Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of essential facts,
Skills worked (CEFB4; CB1, CB2, CB3, CB5, CG1, CG3, CT1, CT2, CT3, CT12)
2. SEMINARS. Duration of approximately 50 minutes. Students will be provided with problem bulletins at the beginning of each topic, in the seminar classes the doubts that will be presented will be solved as well as the approach of strategies in their solution.
Skills worked (CEFB4, CT1, CT2, CT3, CT12)
3. PRACTICAL LABORATORY CLASSES. Compulsory attendance. The calendar approved by the School Board and that of the aforementioned Faculty will be carried out in the Faculty of Sciences. They are activities of the students in the laboratory carried out in small groups. Theory is related to practice, connecting the theoretical contents with their professional reality, so that the student learns to do by doing.
Skills worked (CEFB4, CT1, CT2, CT3, CT12)
4. GROUP TUTORIALS. Afternoon-evening meetings of the students with the teachers in order to solve in group the doubts that arose during the learning of the subject. Duration of approximately 50 minutes.
Skills worked (CEFB4, CB1, CB2, CB3, CB5, CG1, CG3, CT1, CT2, CT3, CT12)
5. INDIVIDUAL TUTORIES. Afternoon-evening meetings of the students with the teachers in order to guide them in the monitoring and use of the subject, and to resolve the doubts that arose during the learning of the subject. These sessions are voluntary, but the teachers will emphasize their usefulness and importance.
Skills worked (CEFB4, CB1, CB2, CB3, CB5, CG1, CG3, CT1, CT2, CT3, CT12)
the learning assessment will be done through continuous evaluation with exams. The monitoring of the learning will be carried out through the realization of activities to be resolved individual and group by the sum of the continuous evaluation (degree of cumpriming of the activities scheduled in seminars, tutorials and practices, as well as by participation in the exhibiting classes) that will count a maximum of30% of the total grade and the grade reached in the examination of the subject , which will be carried out according to the official calendar, which will be a maximum of 70%. So the completion of a final test is complementary to the continuous evaluation. Thus, the evaluation system shall consist of the following sections:
ASPECT...........Evaluation of the theoretical classes:
CRITERY..........Domain of the theoretical and practical knowledge of the subject
INSTRUMENT....3 tests of evaluation will be carried out along the course (they are fixed in the programming).
SKILLS..............CB1, CB2, CB5, CG1, CG3, CEFB4,CT1, CT2, CT3, CT12
PORCENTAGE OF TOTAL QUALIFICATION......70 %
ASPECT.......... Daily work
CRITERY........Active participation in class, questions raised by teachers, doubts of students, The resolution of the proposed exercises in the bulletin, etc.
INSTRUMENT:......observation and teacher's notes, as well as delivery of exercises or proposed work, so that regular attendance is required throughout the course
SKILLS..............CB1, CB2, CB5, CG1, CEFB4, CT1, CT2, CT3, CT12)
PORCENTAGE OF TOTAL QUALIFICATION......15 %
ASPECT............ Evaluation of the laboratory practices
CRITERY...........Mastering the techniques and knowledge of the material used in the practice
INSTRUMENT.....the observation of the work developed in the laboratory and the realization of an evaluation test. The evaluation of the practices will be preserved during a period of 2 academic courses.
SKILLS..............CB3, CG1, CEFB4, CT1, CT2, CT3, CT12
PORCENTAGE OF TOTAL QUALIFICATION......15%
Clarifications:
(1) The grade obtained in each test must not be less than 4.
(2) Apart from mandatory attendance at laboratory practice sessions, it is essential to have a positive assessment of the practice report. Internships are kept for a period of 2 academic courses.
(3)repeater students will receive a previous course internship but will not receive a note given continuous avaliation, so they must perform the activities that are proposed during or course
(4) teaching activities are compulsory and inexcusable except for students who have been granted the exemption of attendance in accordance with Xeral Secretariat Instruction 1/2017
RECOVERY: Any evaluation test in which the grade obtained is less than 4, will be considered suspenseful, and may be recovered in the final exam in June. In case of not passing the tests in June, in the July call the student must be examined of the whole subject. The evaluation criterion is the same on both occasions.
For cases of fraudulent conduct of exercises or tests, the provisions of the "Student Academic Performance Assessment and Grade Review Regulation" shall apply.
This matter is yearly and it consists of 9 credits ECTS, that it means a work load for the student of 225 hours (9 credits x 25 h/credit).

The attendance to the classes, a continuous study of the matter and the resolution and understanding of the problems and of the formulated questions in the seminars are the best way to overcome the matter.
The teaching languages are Spanish and Galician.
