The Red Cross offers the possibility of volunteering in its health promotion and education programme.
Health promotion and education programme
Its aim is the primary prevention of health problems of particular incidence, danger and severity among young people: Prevention of AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases, anorexia and bulimia, abuse of drugs such as alcohol, pills, joints, etc. The project is evolving in this last area, from mere prevention to the goal of "reducing harm". In addition to prevention, the aim is the assimilation of health-enhancing attitudes and behaviour patterns, in the broadest sense of the term.
The work is usually carried out in small groups (2-3 volunteers) who organise educational activities for a set group of beneficiaries, aged between 14 and 20. Volunteers participate in the project by planning the different training sessions they are going to give, preparing the activities, and readjusting them with the group assessments that are set in each case.
