The aim of this course is familiarize to the students with the Operations Management (OM), through the following educational objectives:· Definition, and historical perspective of the Operations Management· To show how OM adds value and to recognize the different strategic approaches from which the production can be contemplated .·Understand the dimensions of the mission of operations and their influence in the strategic design and in the daily development of the operations. To show the state-of-art technology in OM and to introduce the application of OM tools to other functional areas. ·To develop in the student the required abilities successfully to approach the productive configuration of the company in its four fundamental areas: the product, the productive tasks, the process and the logistics.

The classroom sessions dedicated to the expository classes will aim to introduce students to the contents of the topics that make up the program, emphasizing the especially relevant aspects and the relationships between them. The interactive sessions in small groups will be based on the practical application of the theoretical contents presented in the expository sessions. These sessions will aim to solve cases and practical exercises to improve students' ability to recognize, define and analyze the problems that companies face, and to make the most appropriate decisions, while facilitating interaction between students. All these activities will be complemented with the personal work that the students must dedicate to each one of them. This autonomous work will be guided by the teacher in the hours dedicated to tutoring. The tutorials will be mainly face-to-face.
During the course, the virtual classroom will be used for communication, teaching and evaluation tasks. The Microsoft Teams tool can also be used; in this case, the students will be informed promptly.
If possible, a practical session in the form of a lecture or company visit will take place.
The evaluation of the subject will be carried out as follows:
- Continuous evaluation: case analysis, delivery of exercises, assignments, continuous evaluation tests ... Weight in the final grade: 30%.
- Final exam. Weight in the final grade: 70%.
These two parts that make up the students' grades will be applied in both calls (ordinary and extraordinary), in such a way that the score obtained in the continuous evaluation (30%) will be maintained for the July call.
To pass the course, the student must obtain a grade greater than or equal to five (out of ten) on the exam, and a final grade (for exam plus activities) also greater than five (out of ten).
The list of competences to be evaluated in this matter is detailed below:
- Continuous evaluation: CB2; CG4; CT7; CT9; CT10; CT21; D9; D11
- Final exam: CG5; CT6; CT8; B5; D8; D10
In the evaluation, in addition to the acquisition of knowledge, aspects such as the appropriate use of the techniques and tools of the subject, clarity and expository capacity, mastery of the subject's own terminology or active participation will be considered.
Attendance to both the lectures and the interactive classes is compulsory, unless the student is granted the dispensation of attendance according to Instruction N. 1/2017, of the Secretaría Xeral, on the exemption of the attendance to class in certain circumstances. The students to whom the waiver is granted will be evaluated with a specific final examination that will represent 100% of the final mark.
In cases of fraudulent performance of exercises or tests, the provisions of the “Regulations for evaluating student academic performance and reviewing grades” will apply.
The continuous evaluation tests and exercises and the final exam will be done in person.
The course is 6 credits and each credit equals 25 hours.
The total working hours are distributed as follows:
On Campus (including hours of teaching expository, interactive teaching, mentoring and evaluation): 60 hours
Personal work .-: 90 hours
Theoretical and practical classes on the matter
Exercises and other works will be proposed for individual or group resolution.
