This master’s aims to provide basic training and current knowledge of the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis and physiopathology of human diseases. Students will obtain a solid foundation to start doctoral programs in biomedical research, acquiring basic skills in experimental laboratory work as well as the ability to develop professional tasks in the field of biomedical research.

The master’s has a research orientation, meaning it is aimed at students who wish to continue their education by developing a doctoral thesis in the field of Biomedicine. Most of the students who pass this course are likely to continue their education with a doctoral thesis, either in the programmes in which this master is integrated, or in other programs at other universities in the field of Biomedicine.

A lo largo de cada curso académico se llevará a cabo una tutorización individualizada de los alumnos a cargo de miembros del equipo docente del máster y el doctorado. Esto conllevará reuniones periódicas entre el alumno y su tutor al menos una vez cada dos meses, donde se discutirá el itinerario académico a seguir por el alumno, la elección de un director para el trabajo de fin de máster, y todas los demás temas e incidencias que pudieran surgir en el transcurso de los estudios.

Para acceder aos ensinos oficiais de Máster será necesario estar en posesión de:
A.1. Un título universitario oficial español.
A.2. Un título expedido por unha institución de educación superior pertencente a outro Estado integrante do Espazo Europeo de Educación Superior que faculte no mesmo para o acceso a ensinos de Máster.
A.3. Un título pertencente a un sistema educativo alleo ao Espazo Europeo de Educación, previa comprobación pola Universidade de que o citado título acredita un nivel de formación equivalente aos correspondentes títulos universitarios oficiais españois e faculta no país expedidor do título para o acceso a ensinos de posgrao.
A.4. Un título superior das Ensinanzas Artísticas Superiores do sistema educativo español.

Otras titulaciones admitidas por la Comisión Académica de acuerdo con el carácter transversal del título.

Los alumnos procedentes de países de lengua diferente al gallego, portugués ou español deberán acreditar el nivel de lengua gallega: Celga II, o española: B2, según el Acuerdo del Consejo de Gobierno de la USC de 30 de julio de 2018.
De non poseer alguno de los títulos, la USC les realizará una prueba de nivel y, de no superarla, deberán asistir a un curso intensivo de gallego o español en el primer semestre hasta alcanzar el nivel requerido

1. Know how to apply the appropriate techniques for the resolution of a specific problem of Biomedicine, and to be able to carry out a research project under supervision.
2. Be able to make judgments in the field of Biomedicine, both on scientific validity and on ethical and social aspects.
3. Be able to work as a team in a multidisciplinary environment in order to achieve common objectives from different perspectives.
4. Be able to communicate their proposals, experiments, results, conclusions and criticisms to both specialised and non-specialised audiences.
5. Possess the necessary learning skills to keep up to date in the field of Biomedicine and its techniques autonomously.

1. Entender cómo las alteraciones de los procesos biológicos que mantienen el equilibrio en la célula y en los tejidos del organismo pueden provocar la patología humana.
2. Conocer la anatomía del genoma, la información obtenida por el proyecto genoma humano, la distribución de alelos en las poblaciones humanas y las técnicas usadas para estudiar el genoma.
3. Desarrollar la habilidad de entender las alteraciones e identificar posibles puntos de intervención terapéutica de cualquier enfermedad que se pueda encontrar como objeto de estudio en su carrera profesional.
4. Conocer el marco legal en el que se desarrolla la investigación biomédica y ser capaz de emitir juicios autónomos sobre las implicaciones éticas de esta investigación.
5. Ser capaz de diseñar experimentos en el campo de la Biomedicina, aplicando las técnicas adecuadas para responder a la pregunta pertinente.
6. Desarrollar habilidad práctica en el laboratorio de Biomedicina. Ser capaz de seguir un protocolo experimental de forma autónoma.

El Trabajo de Fin de Máster supone la realización por parte del estudiante de un proyecto, memoria o estudio, en el que aplique y desarrolle los conocimientos adquiridos en el seno del Máster en Investigación Biomédica. El Trabajo deberá estar orientado a la aplicación de las competencias generales asociadas a la titulación y será realizado bajo la supervisión del tutor/a asignado.
El Trabajo de Fin de Máster consistirá en la elaboración de un documento donde se describan las actividades realizadas en el laboratorio en el caso de trabajos experimentales, o que cumpla los objetivos marcados en la propuesta de trabajo en el caso de trabajos teóricos. Además de presentar este documento, el alumno lo defenderá ante un tribunal.
En él el alumno aplicará de forma más práctica los conocimientos, habilidades y actitudes adquiridos en el resto del máster. En una mayoría de casos esta aplicación será en uno de los laboratorios de investigación que podrán ofertar plazas. Sin embargo, existe también la posibilidad de realizar el trabajo como un proyecto más teórico donde también se aplicarán los conocimientos previos para casos que así lo aconseje la situación y expectativas del alumno. Esta será una opción minoritaria, pero posible teniendo en cuenta que algunos alumnos podrán cursar el máster sin la intención de trabajar físicamente en un laboratorio, y sobre todo que muchos alumnos entrarán en un programa de doctorado al acabar el máster, y ahí su tarea principal será precisamente trabajar en un laboratorio resolviendo problemas reales de investigación biomédica desde un punto de vista experimental.
La Comisión del Máster coordinará y supervisará el proceso de realización de los Trabajos de Fin de Máster, velando por la calidad, la adecuación a los créditos ECTS establecidos para esta materia en el Plan de Estudios y la homogeneidad en el nivel de exigencia aplicado en la evaluación de los estudiantes. La Comisión del Máster establecerá las directrices para la asignación a los estudiantes del tutor/a y del tema del Trabajo de Fin de Máster, y garantizará la asignación individual a cada estudiante del tutor/a y del tema. La asignación del tutor/a y del tema deberá producirse al menos cuatro meses antes de la finalización del plazo de presentación de los Trabajos de Fin de Máster, y en todo caso,antes del 1 de Febrero del año académico en el que se ha producido la matrícula.
