The objective of the Master in Economics is to extend the training provided by undergraduate studies in Economics and Business Administration, but also to allow undergraduate students in Mathematics, Statistics or Engineering, who have a strong quantitative background, to take advantage of these skills to have access to an advanced training in analytical and quantitative techniques applied to Economics and Finance. In fact, having a degree in one the aforementioned disciplines is a precondition to enter the admission process. It is a degree designed for students who wish to embark on a professional career in the business or financial sectors, and also in the public sector. But it is also aimed at students who seek to pursue doctoral studies. To this end, the Master provides advanced training in models, techniques and methodologies in economic analysis, as well as the quantitative tools commonly used to capture and interpret patterns in economic and financial data.

The Master in Economics has established the following links that can be useful to increase the professional opportunities for students:

  • The PhD Program in Economic Analysis and Business Strategy jointly organized by by the University of A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela and Vigo.
  • The Galician Network of Research in Economic Analysis and Business Strategy, formed by seven research groups (4 from the University of Vigo, 2 from the USC and 1 from the University of A Coruña), which has funding from the Xunta de Galicia, the regional government of Galicia.
  • The ECOBAS Strategic Group (Economics and Business Administration for Society), which brings together more than 150 researchers from 12 research groups in the field of Economics and Finance (11 from the University of Vigo and 1 from the University of A Coruña). ECOBAS was awarded in 2015 the recognition as a Strategic Group of the University System of Galicia (the only strategic group in law and social sciences) by the Department of Culture, Education and University of the regional government of Galicia.
  • The three Universities have signed collaboration agreements with multiple companies that allow us to offer short term internship positions to students in those companies.
