The Valuation, Transfer and Entrepreneurship Area (AVTE), dependent on the Vice-Chancellor’s Office for Research and Innovation of the USC, is the service in charge of the integral management of the transfer process of research results and of the dissemination and promotion of the entrepreneurial culture among the university community.
AVTE's mission is to multiply the social and economic impact of research results and promote university entrepreneurship.
The main functions of the AVTE are:
- To identify and record transferable research results.
- To assess the commercial potential and social utility of research results.
- To protect research results and their management through patents and other forms of protection.
- To propose and revitalise valuation and maturing processes of research results.
- To negotiate, manage and monitor contracts for the transfer of research results.
- To support and advise on initiatives to create companies based on research results (spin-offs).
- To promote and disseminate the transfer of knowledge and entrepreneurship among the university community.
- To provide training related to the transfer process and entrepreneurship.
The recipients of the AVTE service charter are members of the university community and companies interested in the research results carried out at the University. The AVTE, uniquely, provides its services to:
- USC research staff so that the knowledge generated through their research projects can have a greater socio-economic impact.
- Innovative companies or investors interested in the development of new products, processes or services.
- Entrepreneurs from the university community who wish to start up new knowledge-based business projects.
