Knowledge
Con 34. Perform basic treatments for oral-dental pathology in patients of all ages. Therapeutic procedures should be based on the concept of minimal invasion and a global and integrated approach to oral treatment.
Con 36. Take and interpret radiographs and other image-based procedures relevant to dental practice.
Con 38. Determine and identify the patient's aesthetic requirements and the possibilities of satisfying their concerns.

Con 43. Apply loco-regional anesthesia techniques.
Con 46. Manage acute infections, including pharmacological prescription and simple surgical aspects.
Con 51. Treat both pharmacologically and surgically the inflammatory processes of the periodontal and/or peri-implant tissues, including supra- and subgingival periodontal instrumentation techni ques.
The theoretical part will be given by lectures. Different clinical cases will be discussed in seminars. All these cases shall be adapted to the theoretical part and the students will interact with the professor. In lab and clinical practices will be applied all the theoretical concepts acquired by the students. Problems based learning shall be applied and the students will present all their personal work. In this sense the students will be organized in groups tutored by a monitor.
-Continue evaluation: personal work and skill will be evaluated along the year to check the competences acquired.
-2 writing exams will be done (at the end of each four-month period). The student shall show his/her knowledge and capacity to solve the problems treated during the year. They will be carried out at the end of each four-month period and they will correspond to 60% of the final grade for the subject.
The test corresponding to the four-month period may eliminate part of the material to be presented in the exam of the second four-month period, which will also be partial in terms of knowledge, as long as 70% of the maximum grade is reached. Otherwise, the matter will be included in the final exam.
In the final exam and in the second four-month period exam (which includes only the subject taught in that period), the pass will be with 50% of the maximum grade.
Those students who want to raise the grade of the first exam must take the final exam, assuming that the grade obtained in the first exam will not be kept.
For the evaluation of the preclinical and clinical practices , the following criteria will be taken into account:(40% of the final mark):
-Preclinical practices:
1. Student disposition
2. Acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge
3. Performance in laboratory practices
4. Active participation
-Clinical practices:
1. Ergonomics.
2. Hygiene and sterilization.
3. Intercourse with patients.
4. Knowledge and management of medical history
5. Ability to carry out a treatment plan.
6. Knowledge and use of the instruments.
7. Knowledge of the different techniques.
8. Operative dexterity.
These criteria will be applied in each practice carried out that will be valued on a scale from 0 to 10. To pass this part of the subject, a 50% mark must be reached in each type of practice, these being compulsory attendance, so that it will facilitate the recovery of the practices demanding a justification for the absence.
Individual work (studying) : 100 hours
Practical memory : 10 hours
PBL (problems based learning work): 30 hours
recommended lecturing, library activities an others: 20 hours
Other recommended activities: 20 hours
Attendance to lectores and interactive sesiones is crucial for the leearning objectives. The study of recommended papera for each topic is also important to pass the subject. Moreover, the students must follow the teachers indications and daily study of the topics dealt at class.
