The student must be able to:
Acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of Aesthetic Dentistry and its relationship with other medical and dental sciences.
· Diagnose the alterations that affect the harmony of the smile.
· Differentiate the therapeutic possibilities to restore predictable aesthetic and functional results.
· Manage and apply techniques that improve communication with the patient.
· Execute appropriate therapeutic maneuvers to carry out treatments with teeth whitening techniques.
Lesson 1. Presentation. Beauty concept. History. The philosophy of beauty. Origins of aesthetics and perception.
Lesson 2. Photography in Dentistry.
Lesson 3. Facial aesthetics. Evolution and acceptance of change due to age. Smile analysis. Smile concept. Visual perception. Alterations and their therapeutic possibilities.
Lesson 3: Aesthetics of the unitary tooth. Contents: Dental macro and micromorphology of interest in Dental Aesthetics.
Lesson 4. Headband closure
Lesson 5. Optical correction of mild dental malposition.
Lesson 6. Aesthetic recontouring. Indications and contraindications. Clinical technique.
Lesson 7. Color. General concepts. Color measurement in Dentistry.
Lesson 8. Whitening. Treatment of dental discolorations. Techniques for the treatment of color changes: Microabrasion of enamel. Vital whitening techniques. Non-vital whitening.
Lesson 9. Direct composite restorations. Previous sector. Direct restorations of the previous sector. Class IV injury restorations. Laminate fronts: methodology of color and shape change.
Lesson 10. Direct composite restorations in the posterior sector. Aesthetics in the posterior sector.
Unit 11. Indirect restorations. Ceramic veneers. Contents: The ceramic veneers. Preparation. Impressions, laboratory and cementation.

Knowledge
34.- Perform basic treatments for buco-dental pathology in patients of all ages. Therapeutic procedures should be based on the concept of minimal invasion and a comprehensive, integrated approach to buco-dental treatment.
36.- Take and interpret X-rays and other imaging procedures relevant to dental practice.
37.- Make diagnostic models, mount them, and take inter-occlusal records.
38.- Determine and identify the aesthetic requirements of the patient and the possibilities of meeting their concerns.
43.- Apply local-regional anesthesia techniques.
44.- Prepare and isolate the operative field.
50.- Treat dento-alveolar trauma in both temporary and permanent dentitions.
52.- Assess and treat patients with caries or other non-carious dental pathology and be able to use all materials aimed at restoring the form, function, and aesthetics of the tooth in patients of all ages.
53.- Design, prepare teeth, prescribe, record, conduct clinical tests, and place and service indirect restorations: inlays, veneers, or aesthetic laminates, and single crowns.
54.- Operatively treat destructive processes and dento-alveolar traumatic lesions.
55.- Perform endodontic treatments and apply procedures to preserve pulp vitality.
56.- Perform conventional aesthetic procedures from a multidisciplinary perspective.
57.- Treat both partial and total edentulism, including biological design (specific design characteristics), dental preparation, obtaining records, clinical tests, and fitting removable partial and complete dentures, simple tooth-supported bridges, and simple implant-supported prostheses, both removable and fixed, including their placement and servicing.

03.- Identify patient concerns and expectations, and communicate effectively and clearly, both orally and in writing, with patients, their families, the media, and other professionals.

15.- Be familiar with the general pathological characteristics of diseases and disorders affecting organ systems, specifically those with oral implications. Understand and recognize the principles of ergonomics and workplace safety (including cross-infection control, radiological protection, and occupational and biological diseases).
17.- Know the scientific method and have the critical capacity to assess established knowledge and new information. Be able to formulate hypotheses, collect and critically evaluate information to solve problems, following the scientific method.
19.- Obtain and compile a clinical history containing all relevant information.
20.- Perform a complete oral examination, including appropriate radiographic and complementary examinations, as well as obtaining adequate clinical references.
21.- Have the ability to make an initial diagnostic judgment and establish a reasoned diagnostic strategy, being competent in recognizing situations requiring urgent dental care.
22.- Know and apply basic treatment for the most common buco-dental pathology in patients of all ages. Therapeutic procedures should be based on the concept of minimal invasion and a comprehensive, integrated approach to buco-dental treatment.
25.- Plan and carry out multidisciplinary, sequential, and integrated dental treatments of limited complexity in patients of all ages and conditions, and for patients requiring special care.
26.- Propose and recommend appropriate preventive measures for each clinical situation.
27.- Acquire clinical experience under appropriate supervision.
PRESENTIAL
The theoretical program will be given through master classes.
The seminars will discuss clinical cases adapted to the contents of the program as well as the analysis and solution of problems interactively between students and the teacher.
In the practices, the knowledge acquired will be applied in a practical way.
In the tutorials the teacher will personally attend to the students to guide them and resolve any doubts they may have. The tutorials will be essentially face-to-face, although they may be carried out electronically.
Objective test exam: 80%
Laboratory practices and discussion: 20%
Guided or unguided activities, in which the subject is deepened
General mandatory rules:
- It is compulsory to attend the practices with the CORRECT PROTECTION on the part of the student, that is: clean gown, mask and disposable gloves, being highly recommended the use of protective glasses.
- Theoretical classes and practices must begin with TIMELINESS: once started, no student will be able to join them.
- Those who do not follow the correct STERILIZATION rules and are not in possession of the INSTRUMENTAL will not be able to carry out the practices.
