- To recognize the physical basis of imaging techniques.
- To know the usefulness and indication of the use of each technique.
- Identify the organs, apparatus and systems of the human being, alive and in a state of health, by means of the different imaging techniques
Lectures (18h)
Module I:
TOPIC 1. Historical evolution of image techniques.
TOPIC 2. Physical bases of the methods of obtaining images.
TOPIC 3. Principles of identification of organs, devices and systems by ultrasound
Module II:
TOPIC 1. Physical bases of imaging methods
TOPIC 2. Principles of identification of organs, devices and systems in the chest by
Simplex Rx, CT (Computerized Tomography) and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging).
Module III:
TOPIC 1. Abdominopelvic topographic anatomy.
TOPIC 2. Principles of identification of abdominopelvic organs, apparatus and systems
by means of simple X-ray, contrast techniques, CT and MRI.
Module IV:
Topographic anatomy of head, neck and vertebromedullary.
TOPIC 2. Principles of identification of cervicocephalic and vertebromedullary organs and systems by means of simple X-ray, CT and MRI
Interactive Lessons (10h)
Activities to be carried out in the classroom in small groups, in laboratory and hospital practices: Identification of structures, presentation of work, problem solving, etc.
1.- Ultrasounds.
2.- Rx. Simple, CT (computerized axial tomography) and MRI (magnetic nuclear resonance) of the thorax.
3.- Rx. Simple and with contrast, CT and MRI without and with contrast of abdomen/pelvis.

CEMIV.15.- To have the ability to apply radiological protection criteria in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures with ionizing radiation
The subject consists of 29 hours of attendance: 18 expository, 10 interactive and one for examinations. The interactive classes are broken down into 8 laboratory practices, 2 seminars and 1 tutorial.Thus, each of the four thematic modules will be taught through 4-5 expository classes, 2 laboratory practices and 1 seminar.
Contents of modules I-IV of programme will be mainly addressed in the expository classes. Audiovisual media and in some cases the teacher will draw pictures on the blackboard for a better understanding of the subject. Student participation will be encouraged. In seminary and the practical classes, autonomous learning will be promoted, and the students will work individually and in teams, guided by the teaching staff. Class notes and the atlas are essential as support material. For the performance of any activity in the anatomical technique room, the use of a white coat will be mandatory. The student will be required to use the practice material carefully and respectfully. The participation and attitude of the student in the programmed activities will be monitored. Individualized tutorials will be carried out for learning orientation and doubt resolution and a public tutorial forum will be set up in the virtual classroom.
The theoretical knowledge and skills acquired in the expository classes (CG5, CG7, CG9, CG31, CG37, CEMI.20, CEMIV.10, CEMIV.11, CEMIV.12, CEMIV.13, CEMIV.14, CEMIV.15) will be assessed by means of a final examination and the activities that could be scheduled during the course as continuous evaluation.
The final test at the first opportunity will consist of a single answer test with five options to assess the knowledge of the four thematic blocks that have been taught in the expository and interactive classes. Each of the blocks will be valued from 0 to 10 points. The final test grade will be the average of the grades obtained in the four blocks. To make this average and pass the exam, the student cannot have a grade lower than 3 in one of the 4 blocks. The pass level of the test will be 60%. It is necessary to pass this exam to pass the subject. In the second opportunity, the exam will consist of a short question or topic, requiring the same level of 60% to pass.
Attendance at lectures and interactive classes, attitude, performance and content of scheduled activities as well as other merits contributed during the course will be valued within the continuous evaluation. Continuous evaluation will not represent more than 20% of the total grade.
In the event of fraudulent completion of exercises or tests, the Regulations for evaluating students' academic performance and reviewing grades will be applied (RESOLUTION OF JUNE 15, 2011, DOG of July 21, 2011)

It is recommended that the student use as a reference the class notes and the images and diagrams that the teacher suggests as didactic material and that in many cases the virtual will be uploaded as teaching material. You should complement this information with the reading and study of the texts suggested in the bibliography. The books and atlases are essential guides for the acquisition of skills and practical abilities of the subject. It is advisable to bring the subject up to date and make use of the tutorials to guide the learning and solve doubts.
The student must review the knowledge acquired in anatomy and physiology, for a correct assimilation of the concepts, skills and attitudes that are offered through the subject. Likewise, learning will be facilitated by prior knowledge of the fundamental physical laws involved in the functioning of biological systems.
Students will have a virtual classroom for the subject on the Moodle platform with teaching material for the subject that teachers will make available to them. At the indication of each teacher, students will be able to resolve doubts or have tutorials through the virtual classroom, email or even through Microsoft TEAMs.
