Provide the student to information and economic instruments needed to analyze the economic reality in the analysis of health systems.
This subject is open to the student in understanding, managing and implementing the health field of the main tools of economic analysis.
The program consists of nine themes grouped into three parts. The first is geared to learning and application of basic economic concepts, such as: demand, supply, elasticity, market imperfections and government intervention in the economy (UNITS 1 to 3). The second part focuses on studying the specific characteristics of health care from an economic perspective and the application of economic concepts to the field of health, with special emphasis on features and recent reforms of the Spanish National Health System (UNITS 4 to 8). The agenda closes with a theme dedicated to the study of the main techniques of economic evaluation of health programs and their practical utility (UNITS 9).

• Apply basic economic concepts to the health sector.
• Understand, manage and implement the health sector the main tools of economic analysis.
• Identify the professional context the concepts and phenomena discussed in health economics, from an economic perspective to interpret and apply the acquired knowledge to solve problems.
• Analyze and compare different models of health care, with particular reference to the Spanish system in relation to other health systems in the EU and USA.
• To explore the ethical implications of the management of health resources.
• Apply the main economic evaluation techniques to support decision making in health.

Attendance at narrative and interactive sessions is essential for monitoring and overcoming of the subject. Students must perform all the activities recommended by the faculty (problem solving, literature review and practical exercises) for successfully completing the field.

The delivery of works in digital format will be promoted. If a printed work is requested for the subject, either individual or group, the following indications will be taken into account:
- Avoid plastic caps or other unnecessary outer wraps.
- Whenever possible, use staples instead of spirals.

- Do not use blank sheets as chapter or part dividers.
- Avoid annexes that do not have direct reference to the topics covered in the papers.
