• The subject Tutored Practices IV pursues the acquisition of skills by the student to provide nursing care in clinical situations, either by attending patients admitted to hospitalization units or external patients.
According to Annex ORDER CIN/2134/2008, of July 3, the competence to be acquired by students who take this subject consists in "incorporating professional values, healthcare communication skills, clinical reasoning, clinical management and critical judgment, integrating in professional practice the knowledge, skills and attitudes of Nursing, based on principles and values, associated with the competencies described in the general objectives and the subjects that make up the Title".
According to the Report of the Degree in Nursing, students who successfully take the subject Tutored Practices IV acquire the following learning results (training objectives):
• Plan nursing care.
• Learn how to integrate into the health team for the planning, execution and evaluation of the care plan.
• Apply the methods and procedures necessary to identify health problems and establish a care plan.
The subject Protected Practices IV consists of the realization of pre-professional practices, in the form of an independent clinical rotatory and with a final evaluation of competencies.
It consists of an internship that takes place in public health centers of specialized care, where students will acquire the skills of the nursing profession. The practices will be carried out in Medical-Surgical hospitalization units (hematology, cardiology, cardiac surgery, digestive, traumatology, urology, pneumology, neurology, internal medicine, oncology, palliative care, large outpatient surgery unit), Obstetrics, Gynecology and Pediatrics, as well as in external consultations.
Clinical practices may be developed in one of the health facilities under Galician Health Service as follows:

In accordance with the provisions of the annex to ORDER CIN/2134/2008 of July 3, if they establish the requirements for the verification of the Univesitarios Oficiais Titles that enable the exercise of the profession of Enfermeiro, the Objectives-Competencies that students must acquire in relation to the Guardian Practices are:
Incorporate professional values, healthcare communication competencies, clinical reasoning, clinical management and critical judgment, integrating in professional practice the knowledge, skills and attitudes of Nursing, based on principles and values, associated with the competencies described in the general objectives and the subjects that make up the Title.

The subject Protected Practices IV will allow students to acquire skills through the realization of clinical practices, resolution of case studies and tutoring (personalized attention).
• Clinical practices.
They are a key element in the development of professional skills in health sciences.
The first day of internships in each of the different units through which the students will have to rotate, the associate professor of Health Sciences (PACS), or failing that a teaching collaborator appointed by him, will be responsible for receiving the newly incorporated students, in order, among others, to explain the basic functioning of the unit, as well as the rules related to rotation (attendance, evaluation criteria, etc.).
Throughout the rotary the student will always be supervised and supervised by the PACS or by a teaching collaborator.
• Resolution of clinical cases.
PACS responsible for the guardianship of students in their respective units may ask students to resolve clinical cases in order to facilitate the teaching-learning process and/or evaluate the skills acquired during the training period.
Training in SERGAS centres and devices, which conjures and guarantees two types of requirements: those linked to optimal learning by students and those linked to those of the rights of internal and external users of the health organization, under the authorization by the assistance professionals of the practical training of the student, as established the procedure and circuit for the realization of the tutored practices of the Degree of Nursing Degree, in collaboration with the Subdirectoration of Teaching, Innovation and Research of the Ministry of Health of the Xunta de Galicia:
• Tutoring.
Personalized attention in order for students to raise the problems or difficulties they encounter in the acquisition of the skills.
PACS, in close communication with teaching collaborators, will issue an evaluation report based on the degree of compliance with the skills-skills that students must acquire during the training period in each of the destinations, both primary care and specialized care, where students will develop their training.
The evaluation will take into account compliance with the standards for the development of practices, consisting of:
• Assistance and punctuality
• Proper work apparel
• Professional secrecy and confidentiality.
The competencies under evaluation are detailed below:
• Integration into the support team.
• Initiative and motivation.
• Responsibility.
• Application of the protocols of each unit.
• Development of communication habits with different professionals.
• Knowledge of the resources and medications used in the service.
• Realization of patient admission according to protocol.
• Patient nursing assessment upon admission.
• Support and support relationship to the patient and family.
• Preparation and monitoring of care plans.
• Basic EKG realization and interpretation.
• Performing complex cures.
• Application of preventive measures and treatment of pressure ulcers.
• Administration of drugs orally, topically, rectal, otic, nasal, ophthalmic, inhaled, vaginal, subcutaneous, intradermal, intramuscular and intravenous.
• Venous channeling and serum therapy. Maintenance.
• Performing basic respiratory physiotherapy techniques (clapping, aerosol therapy, postural drainage, assisted cough, use of incentives...)
• Application of measures for the maintenance of body temperature within physiological limits.
• Performing bladder, rectal and nasogastric catheters. Maintenance.
• Application of oxygen therapy. Maintenance and evaluation.
• Application of enteral and/or parenteral feeding care.
• Performing water balances.
• Management of guidelines and administration of different types of insulins.
• Administration and maintenance of blood transfusions.
• Patient care undergoing invasive or non-invasive diagnostic tests: preparation, performance and assistance during the test and subsequent control.
• Performing postmortem care. Support and support relationship for family members
They will be evaluated by the PACS, those competences that students can achieve in the unit in which they perform the rotation.
The results obtained shall be described on the basis of the following numerical scale from 0 to 10, according to the degree of dominance achieved:
• Grade 1 'Suspense (0-4,9)
It does not strive to acquire the competition and does not prove that it has been acquired or rarely conducted it.
• Grade 2 - Approved (5-6,9)
He studies, trains and proves that he sometimes applies the competition.
• Grade 3 - Notable (7-8,9)
He has learned competence and in his conduct shows that he applies it.
• Grade 4 - Outstanding / Honorary Enrollment (9-10)
It has integrated competence in your behavioral habits.
Attendance is mandatory.
The subject Protected Practices IV has a legal load of 9 ECTS credits, equivalent to 225 hours of work (correspond 25 hours for each ECTS credit)
