History

The Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Santiago de Compostela is one of the most prestigious centres in our country within the broad disciplinary field of social sciences.

Since its establishment in 1991, over three thousand students have completed undergraduate and postgraduate courses, gaining comprehensive training in political science, public management, international relations, and sociology.

The main motivation guiding our work is the desire to improve the training programs offered at the centre, including the Master in Marketing Technologies and Political Communication, the Master in Local Government and Innovative Public Policies, and especially the Degree in Political Science and Administration, which is the main focus of our transdisciplinary academic project. We closely monitor the implementation of these programs and continuously search for areas that require improvement.

During its decades of operation, the Faculty has established strong institutional relationships with other prominent universities and scientific institutions worldwide. This has been achieved through participation in student and faculty exchange programmes, as well as teaching innovation programmes. These initiatives have particularly distinguished our centre in the Galician and Spanish spheres. Similarly, our dedication to enhancing student training has led to the creation of a comprehensive and meticulous internship programme in institutions, companies, and third sector organisations. This programme is unparalleled in the Galician university system.

The centre aims to stimulate the social and cultural life of the academic community and increase the participation of all involved parties. This is achieved by promoting an innovative, open, and responsible public service as a common project.
