The Eating Disorders Unit is a health care facility providing comprehensive care for patients with anorexia nervosa and bulimia.
The unit is located in the General Basic Hospital of Conxo (former Provincial Hospital) and has three hospitalisation areas (acute, prolonged and day hospital) and an outpatient area.
The programme is supported by the medical team, psychologist and social worker, with whom there are three meetings during the course of the year to monitor the work being carried out and to resolve any doubts that may arise. The continuity of the work of the volunteers in the unit is especially important, as any total or partial abandonment of the project for whatever reason has negative consequences for the patients and their treatment.
Once the activity is finished, an evaluation will be requested.
The work is carried out by accompanying, entertaining and reinforcing the study of the patients admitted to the Somatics Unit at the Conxo Psychiatric Hospital.
