The Asociación Itínera was founded in 2005 as a result of volunteering experiences carried out since 1993 in the Psychiatric Hospital of Conxo. During those twelve years, educational, recreational and sports programmeshave been implemented involving more than 400 volunteers.
The aim of the Asociación Itínera is to achieve a higher level of socialisation of people with severe mental disorders and to facilitate their integration, social participation and combat the social stigma associated with mental illness.
At present it also has two programmes developed in collaboration with the Social Work Unit of the Social Services Department of A Estrada Town Council in its village.
