Amnesty International carry out their work in complete independence. They do not accept grants from national governments or donations from political parties for their research and campaign work. In this way they preserve their impartiality and freedom of action.
Amnesty International's vision is of a world in which all people enjoy the rights proclaimed in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Paradoxically, this makes them an uncomfortable organisation for the powerful. However, experience tells them that it is possible to change things.
