The Degree in Dentistry from the University of Santiago de Compostela aims to train professionals with appropriate knowledge, skills, attitudes and competences to serve society by meeting their dental health requirements, as regards prevention, diagnosis and treatment, in an ethical, efficient and safe manner. These professionals must appreciate the need for professional development and continuing education throughout life, to be able to efficiently use the advances in knowledge and technology and understand the central role of the patient in the treatment decision-making process.

1. Para acceder a las asignaturas del módulo IV el alumno tendrá que tener aprobados 90 ECTS de los módulos I, II y III que obligatoriamente deben incluir las materias: Morfología y Función del Aparato Estomatognático, Introducción a la Odontología .Clínica y laboratorio, Radiología general y Protección Radiológica.

Para el ingreso en la titulación se considera adecuado un perfil personal que incluya vocación de servicio en actividades sanitarias. Asimismo, es muy recomendable que el aspirante posea habilidad manual, dado que la profesión de odontólogo lo requiere, así como conocimiento importante de las materias de ciencias de la salud y de la lengua inglesa.

1.- El alumnado de primer curso por primera vez a tiempo completo tienen que matricular 60 créditos. Un 15% del alumnado podrá cursar estudios a tiempo parcial (30 créditos).
2.- Continuación de estudios: libre con un máximo de 75 créditos

La USC realiza todos los años, a comienzo de curso, jornadas de acogida organizadas por el vicerrectorado con competencia en asuntos estudiantiles (Vicerrectorado da Comunidade Universitaria e Compromiso Social), que se desarrollan en la primera quincena del curso en todos los centros universitarios, y que tienen por objeto presentar a los nuevos estudiantes las posibilidades, recursos y servicios que le ofrece la Universidad.

La Universidad de Santiago cuenta con un servicio de participación e integración universitaria (SEPIU) (http://www.usc.es/gl/servizos/sepiu) que trabaja en la integración de personas con discapacidad y presta apoyo para el desarrollo de las adaptaciones curriculares, así como un protocolo para la integración en la comunidad universitaria.

Se establecerá un programa de profesores tutores que permita dar soporte y seguimiento a los alumnos que ingresen en el centro; estos tutores actuarán así mismo como orientadores académicos y en su caso como coordinadores del plan personalizado del alumno tutorizado.

La movilidad de los/as estudiantes está regulada a través del “Reglamento de intercambios interuniversitarios”. A través de la Oficina de Relaciones Exteriores se gestionan programas de intercambio tanto nacionales (SICUE), como europeos (ERASMUS) y extracomunitarios (intercambios con países de América Latina o países de habla inglesa):

Cuando se produzca la suspensión de un Título oficial, la USC garantiza el adecuado desarrollo efectivo de las enseñanzas que hubieran iniciado sus estudiantes hasta su finalización. Para ello, el Consejo de Gobierno aprueba los criterios relacionados, entre otros, con:
• La admisión de matrículas de nuevo ingreso en la titulación.
• La supresión gradual de la impartición de la docencia.
• Si el título extinguido es sustituido por otro similar (modificando la naturaleza del título), fija las condiciones que facilitan a los/las estudiantes la continuidad de estudios en el nuevo título y las equivalencias entre las materias de uno y otro plan.

Access to Bachelor’s Degree programmes is granted to students with the following degrees/ diplomas or studies, or any other recognized as equivalent to these:
A.1. Spanish Bachiller, European Baccalaureate or International Baccalaureate.
A.2. Baccalaureate from European Union Member States’ education systems or other countries withinternational agreements.
A.3. Advanced Technician in Vocational Training, Advanced Technician in Plastic Arts and Design orAdvanced Technician in Sports Education, from the Spanish Education System.
A.4.Studies carried out in European Union Member States or in other countries with international reciprocal agreements which meet the academic requirements in those States to access their university study programmes.
A.5. Official Spanish university degrees of Diplomado, Arquitecto Técnico, Ingeniero Técnico, Licenciado, Arquitecto, Ingeniero, Graduado or Máster Universitario.
A.6. Partial (foreign or Spanish) university studies.
Access to Bachelor’s Degree programmes is also possible for:
B.1. People over twenty-five after successfully passing a specific access test.
B.2. People over forty with work or professional experience related to a university field of knowledge.
B.3. People over forty-five after successfully passing a specific access test.
Likewise, access to Bachelor’s Degree programmes is granted to:
C.1. People meeting the requirements to enter university according to the Spanish Education System regulations prior to Ley Orgánica 8/2013, of December 9.

The building of Dentistry has 6 general purpose classrooms, a seminar room with a capacity of 24 students, as well as several labs, plaster labs and clinical care plants.

Dentistry building has 6 general purpose classrooms, one seminar room for up to 24 students, and various labs, plant casts and clinical care.

There are also areas designates for students

  • A computer room that is free to use and equipped with computers.
  • A study room with 30 seats.

In addition, the studies of Degree in Dentistry use part of the facilities of the building of Medicine, such as the computer room that is free to use or the reading room.

The centre has a Library that has a reading room with 120 seats, a room for group work, with 12 seats and a newspaper and periodicals library with research journals, audiovisuals and a research store. It has 12 reading stations.

We can also highlight that wireless Internet connection is available everywhere in the Faculty.

Que los estudiantes hayan demostrado poseer y comprender conocimientos en un área de estudio que parte de la base de la educación secundaria general, y se suele encontrar a un nivel que, si bien se apoya en libros de texto avanzados, incluye también algunos aspectos que implican conocimientos procedentes de la vanguardia de su campo de estudio;

Que los estudiantes sepan aplicar sus conocimientos a su trabajo o vocación de una forma profesional y posean las competencias que suelen demostrarse por medio de la elaboración y defensa de argumentos y la resolución de problemas dentro de su área de estudio;

Que los estudiantes tengan la capacidad de reunir e interpretar datos relevantes (normalmente dentro de su área de estudio) para emitir juicios que incluyan una reflexión sobre temas relevantes de índole social, científica o ética;

Que los estudiantes puedan transmitir información, ideas, problemas y soluciones a un público tanto especializado como no especializado;

Que los estudiantes hayan desarrollado aquellas habilidades de aprendizaje necesarias para emprender estudios posteriores con un alto grado de autonomía.

3. Understand the basic biomedical sciences on which dentistry is based to ensure proper oral-dental care
4. Become familiarity with general pathological features of diseases and disorders that affect the organ systems, specifically those with oral repercussion
5. Recognize the determinants of oral health in the population, both genetic and dependent lifestyle, demographic, environmental, social, economic, psychological and cultural
6. Know the biomedical sciences on which dentistry is based to ensure proper oral-dental care
7. Know the impact of demographic and epidemiological trends in the practice of dentistry
8. Know the role of the dentist in the health professions and work with other health professionals and other members of the dental team
9. Know the general pharmacology and clinical dental practice.

 Coñecer dos procesos xerais da enfermidade, entre os que se inclúen a infección, a inflamación, as alteracións do sistema inmune, a dexeneración, a neoplasia, as alteracións metabólicas e as desordes xenéticas.
 Saber realizar un exame bucal completo, incluíndo as oportunas probas radiográficas e de exploración complementarias, así como a obtención de adecuadas referencias clínicas
 Saber planificar e realizar tratamentos odontolóxicos multidisciplinares, secuenciais e integrados de complexidade limitada en pacientes de todas as idades e condicións e dos pacientes que requiran coidados especiais
 Coñecer os procedementos e probas diagnósticas clínicas e de laboratorio, coñecer a súa fiabilidade e validez diagnóstica e ser competente na interpretación dos seus resultados
 Coñecer e usar do equipamento e instrumentación básicos para a práctica odontolóxica
 Proporcionar un enfoque global dos coidados orais e aplicar os principios de promoción da saúde e prevención das enfermidades bucodentarias
 Realizar tratamentos básicos da patoloxía buco-dentaria en pacientes de todas as idades
 Diagnosticar, planificar e realizar, con carácter xeral, un tratamento multidisciplinar, secuencial e integrado de complexidade limitada en pacientes de todas as idades e condicións

Las Prácticas Tuteladas se organizarán en forma de prácticas profesionales siguiendo el concepto de clínica odontológica integrada con el objetivo de alcanzar la suficiente experiencia clínica para que los alumnos puedan realizar la evaluación final de competencias, no solo de las puramente clínicas, sino también aquellas que permitan incorporar los valores profesionales, competencias de comunicación asistencial, de gestión clínica, de razonamiento clínico y juicio crítico. Deberán incluir trabajo clínico del estudiante en pacientes de todas las edades y condiciones de un modo integrado y bajo la adecuada supervisión.

El trabajo de fin de grado se organizará como un materia transversal asociada a las distintas materias del grado en la que se podrán evaluar competencias alcanzadas por el estudiante.
Para la defensa del TFG el alumno tendrá que haber superado el resto de los créditos del Grado
