This program provides continuity to the curricular offer of both universities and maintains the high research level of the groups involved in the Programme. It as received the recognition of a large number of public calls and the high assessment of the quality of its members' research activities. Also worth mentioning is the large number of graduates who develop professionally as researchers in the areas of ICT in companies and research centres, not only in Spain but also abroad.

Whitout supplementary training:

1) Master’s courses offered by the University of Santiago de Compostela

  • Master’s in Information Technologies
  • Master’s in High performance computing
  • Master’s in Mathematical Engineering
  • Master’s in Mathematics
  • Master’s in Statistical Techniques
  • Master’s in Renewable Energy and Energy Sustainability

2) Master's courses offered by the University of A Coruña

  • Master's in Mathematical Engineering.
  • Master's in Technical Statistics.
  • Master's in Mobile Communications Technologies.
  • Master's in Computing.
  • Master's in Computer Systems Engineering.

Note that the most suitable access profile for most of the lines of research corresponds to that of Master's in Communications Technology from the USC, Master's in Computer Engineering from the UDC and the Master's Degree in High Performance Computing. However, due to the specifics of each line, the other Master's degrees could perfectly adjusted.

Students without supplementary training and holders of the Diploma of Advanced Studies obtained through the Inter-University Doctoral Programme in Information Technology from the USC or UDC may also access.

Other profiles:

The Academic Committee evaluates each case individually. The possibility of requiring supplementary training (maximum 15 ECTS credits) will be considered.

Students who did not take master's courses: They will need an equivalence of training in research credits, equal to at least the master's degree that provides direct access, which is 60 ECTS credits.

Points for each merit are evaluated by the committee in the following way:

  1. Academic transcript: 30%
  2. Knowledge of English (candidates must provide proof: First Certificate, etc 10%
  3. Curriculum: 30%
  4. Professional experience (candidates must provide documentary proof: certificate of employment history, copy of contracts, etc.) 10%
  5. Research experience (candidates must provide documentary proof: publication of articles, monographs, participation in research groups, etc.): 20%

No training complements:

 In general, students who have completed a master's degree assigned to the areas of knowledge of Computing, Informatics, Computer Architecture and Technology, and Artificial Intelligence will be able to access this doctoral programme.

 Students with the DEA degree obtained through programmes in the aforementioned areas of knowledge will also have access to the programme.

Other profiles:

 In the case of other profiles that have not completed a master's degree, an equivalence of training in research credits will be required, at least equal to those of the master's degree that gives direct access.

 For any other profile, the CAPD will study the cases individually, being able to admit or not the students and establishing training complements if necessary. These complements may not exceed 15 ECTS.

Access

1. In general, to access an official doctoral programme it will be necessary to be in possession of the official Spanish Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent, and a Master's Degree.

Regarding the graduate profile and the overlap with the R&D&i strategy of the Universities of Santiago de Compostela and A Coruña, the main objective of the programme is to train researchers in the field of Information Technologies (ICT), in aspects ranging from electronics design to high-level programming and high-performance computing, through Artificial Intelligence, massive data processing (Big Data) or image processing, among others. It is well known that said training goes through constant updating typical of a field in continuous development, and research has to be constantly and immediately updated to new challenges and consequently to new projects addressed by the research groups assigned to the programme. All doctoral theses developed in the programme are directly related to competitive projects and contracts with companies in force, which guarantees a continuous update of the research and innovation topics without changing the general definitions of the 10 lines of research in which the objectives of the programme are framed. The levels of demand that the programme imposes on itself are high, and students are expected to have quality scientific production, aligned with that of the groups in which they are integrated.

This doctoral programme offers opportunities for graduates to continue their research activity, including in many other scientific fields other than computing and that use ICT. Thus, graduates have joined both academic contracts in research centres and universities, as well as the job market in research and development work in innovative projects both nationally and internationally, where the acquired skills have been very well received in companies, universities and research centres. Monitoring the job placement of doctors is the responsibility of the CAPD, which consults the thesis directors about the employment situation of the graduates, with the aim of knowing both the sector of activity (academic, industrial, services, research centres, etc.) and the geographical area where they carry out their work (in our case, Galicia, Spain, EU, Middle East, ...).

Although there is no explicit mechanism for direct assessment of each of the competences that a doctoral student must acquire, the CAPD considers that the students who have completed their studies in this period subject to evaluation have largely acquired the competences provided for by the programme. The results obtained in terms of the quality of the theses and the subsequent employability of our graduates confirm this assessment. All competences are guaranteed, since they are reflected in the scientific production of the graduates.

The degree of employability of programme graduates is practically 100%. Most of the graduates of this doctoral programme have entered the job market in research and development of innovative projects both nationally and internationally, where the skills acquired by them have been very well received in companies, universities and training centres research. The job placement of new doctors is practically immediate, and usually in line with the training received during the completion of the thesis.

The main objective of this Masters degree is to train professionals and researchers in aquaculture; professionals with a solid recognised training at job level and researchers whose training allows them to carry out their research, with cutting-edge technologies, while keeping abreast of problems in production processing.
