The Faculty of Communication Science began its work in the 1991-92 academic year, first in the building in Plaza de Mazarelos and, since 1999, in the new building designed by Álvaro Siza Vieira in the North Campus. The Faculty hosts two degree courses (Journalism and Audio-visual Communication), one double degree and the Master's Degree in Journalism and Communication. These programmes also include in-person work placements in companies in the sector.
