Summary
The main objective of this Master's Thesis is to analyze the new functions for defensive heritage through the castles of Alarcón, Belmonte and Garcimuñoz in Cuenca. To do so, first of all, several concepts related to heritage and defensive architecture are defined, the legislation and protection of this type of assets are explained, as well as the specific criteria for their intervention taking into account these new uses. Then, each castle is studied in depth through the analysis of its historical and architectural evolution, the examination of the latest interventions carried out in them and the evaluation of their adequacy to a series of established criteria. In addition, their current functions and their impact at different levels are analyzed: architectural, economic, touristic, cultural and local. The methodology combines literature review, documentary analysis and field work, allowing a comprehensive and critical view of these cultural assets. This study demonstrates that proper heritage management not only favors their conservation, but also allows them to become key tools for territorial development and living symbols of local identity, reinforcing the link between the community and its heritage.

Summary
The historical, religious, and cultural connections between Santiago de Compostela and Pistoia, two cities linked by the cult of Saint James the Greater's relics, are examined in this article. By drawing on primary and secondary sources, the study reconstructs the beginnings of a relationship that started in the XII century and has since influenced local identities, sacred architecture, and the European pilgrimage networks. Additionally, a series of interviews were conducted with key figures involved in the creation and promotion of initiatives aimed at strengthening the ties between the two cities. The article examines the significance of the 2017 twinning proposal as a modern attempt to revive this shared memory and emphasizes Pistoia's role in legitimizing it. Finally, it emphasizes the contribution of Italian scholarship to Jacobean studies and calls for renewed cultural and academic cooperation between the two cities.

Summary
This proposal for revitalization of architectural heritage presents a series of circus performances on bridges declared as Assets of Cultural Interest and included in the heritage catalogues of the different municipalities that make up the Compostela region. Through the enhancement of the circus, a relationship is established between disused architecture, such as historic bridges, and performing arts without their own exhibition space, such as the circus. The work is divided into two parts; the first is a detailed study of each of the selected bridges through fieldwork, and a documentary and bibliographic review of them. This section also includes a historical circus review focused on the Galician context, through the analysis of documentary sources and testimonies that allow to understand the evolution and impact of this phenomenon in the region. The second part develops the practical proposal for heritage revitalization, based on the needs identified during the research. In this way, the work offers a comprehensive vision of the relationship between built heritage and performing arts, and proposes an intervention that seeks to revitalize these spaces and facilitate their integration into the cultural and social life of the community.

Summary
Between the 1880s and 1920s, the Bergantiños and Costa da Morte regions longed for a modern communication route that would connect them to the rest of the world and free them from their centuries-old isolation. This paper analyses the history of railway projects in that area between the 1880s and earlier, and 1913, from the A Coruña-Santiago line via Carballo to the strategic A Coruña-Carballo-Corcubión (known as the 'three Cs') and Santiago-Carballo railways. On the one hand, the various planned railway lines are analysed, both their legal formulation by the State, in the context of the secondary and strategic railway plans drawn up between 1888 and 1908, and their demand by local institutions (town councils, the Provincial Council, chambers of commerce, and the Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country of Santiago de Compostela). The project presented by the Spanish Society of Secondary Railways (SEFS) is also examined in depth, relating it to the company's general operations throughout Spain, its objectives, and foreign investment in Spanish railways in general.

Summary
Following the Spanish Civil War, a dictatorship was established at the national level, which, after four decades in power, brought about a series of political, economic, and social changes whose imprint remains latent. The characteristic changes in the economy during the Franco regime favored the application of a specific industrial paternalism in many Spanish industries. This is the case of Ence and Tafisa in the city of Pontevedra. This paper analyzes how the industrialization of the province of Pontevedra occurred throughout the 20th century, taking into account the political developments that marked the path forward and saw the timber industry as a gold mine to support the economy during Franco's autarky. This is the starting point for these two companies, which used paternalistic policies to control their employees during the developmentalist phase of Franco's regime and which evolved during the Spanish Transition. The impact these measures had on the lives of workers and their families continues to this day and is the main focus of this paper.

Summary
Based on the exploratory research collected in my TFG in Political Science and Administration “Genesis and evolution of the Galician Socialist Party (PSG) (1963-1982)” presented at the USC (2012), I try to delve deeper into the task of investigating Galician democratic socialist nationalism from a historiographic and transdisciplinary perspective that expands, enriches and complements previous knowledge about its historical path within the Political History of Galicia, specifically during the Franco regime and the democratic Transition. With a somewhat more ambitious vocation, where a more extensive repertoire of primary (oral, documentary) and secondary sources is dealt with, opening the panorama beyond the Galician Socialist Party (PSG) to observe those party formulations in the field of socialist nationalism in relation to the emergence of successive Political Opportunity Structures that have been shaping tactical and strategic reactions and changes in the whole of organized Galician nationalism. The PSG and related political organizations such as the Galician Workers' Party (POG), Galician Left (EG) or Galician Unity (UG) were companions or continuators of the same soul of nationalism that built bridges between the historical pre-war Galicianism with the new radical Marxist nationalism that emerged in the 1960s, functioning in practice also as a laboratory of ideas and organizational tools with a particular vision and evolution in a turbulent and convulsive historical time that marked its political development, bequeathing its own way of understanding the very lively contemporary Galician nationalism (social and institutional). I approach its raison d'être not only as a party or succession of parties, but also as a political-cultural phenomenon inserted in a broader counter-hegemonic popular movement.

Summary
This paper addresses the question of the cultural phenomenon that developed in the 1980s in the city of Vigo, known as a Movida. The study adopts a wide perspective, linking it to the sociopolitical context of the city, which we understand to be defining and essential to its maintenance and popularity. Thus, through the consultation of specializad bibliography and the examination of various sources, we attempt to understand the specific features of a Movida viguesa that enabled its development and consolidation, going beyond the year traditionally regarded as its point of origin. Commonly accepted characteristics are also reconsidered, exploring its political connections, its disconnection from reality, or its definition as intrinsically urban. Finally, its relationship with institutions and its dissemination through both official and unofficial media will also be addressed.

Summary
In recent decades, political systems across much of the Western world have witnessed the emergence of a seemingly novel phenomenon. This involves the rise of far-right political forces that differ substantially from traditional right-wing movements which were hegemonic until the late twentieth century. Aiming to advance a struggle over meanings and interpretations in the cultural sphere, they have embarked on a quest into the dawn of history, seeking to reinterpret milestones, figures, and deeds to make them functional to their ideological tenets. Thus, many of their political premises and proposals are not new; rather, they have borrowed them from past political experiences and theoretical frameworks, adapting them to their own contexts of action. In this regard, the process of colonization in the Americas has not been immune to political appropriation by these actors. It follows that formulations surrounding the concept of Hispanidad, its theoretical developments and implications, are recurrent elements in these parties' rhetoric, both in Latin America and Spain. Accordingly, this paper conducts an in-depth study of Vox, a manifestation of the Spanish far right, and Cabildo Abierto, its Uruguayan counterpart, to analyze whether their interpretations of Hispanidad's genealogy, origins, and political uses vary according to their respective contexts of emergence and development, and in what forms these appear in their discourses.

Summary
This essay aims to analyze, from a gender perspective, the extent to which the housing policies of Francoism could influence the shaping of female identities of the women beneficiaries of these dwellings and their attitudes regarding the regime. We also investigate the possible existence of sorority networks in the new context of neighbourhood and their impact on the improvement of the living conditions of women. Lastly, we try to identify female participation in the birth of the associative movement of the neighbourhoods. In order to verify these hypotheses, we conduct a survey about two groups of social housing in the neighbourhood of Pontepedriña, in Santiago de Compostela: The grupo Compostela, from the 50s, and the grupo Cardenal Quiroga, from the 70s. We conclude that women show no gratitude towards the regime and that the sorority networks that could have been the seed of a vindicatory associative movement never came to be. This will happen later, during democracy.

Summary
In the 17th century, Europeans referred to Taiwan as Isla Hermosa or Ilha Formosa. In 1626, with the aim of developing trade and spreading the Catholic faith, the Spanish occupied the northern part of the island and established bases in Keilang (present-day Heping Island) and Tanchuy (present-day Tamsui). Although the Spanish rule lasted only sixteen years, its legacy cannot be ignored. One of the most important material testimonies is the Church of Todos los Santos, the only Spanish architectural structure excavated to date. This study, based on preserved documentary sources and the works of other researchers, both Spanish and Taiwanese, seeks to comprehensively reconstruct Spanish activities in Taiwan. The purpose of this work is to contribute to the understanding of this little-known period of colonial history in East Asia and of the material and cultural heritage that remains from this presence, with particular attention given to historical cartography, as well as to encourage greater interest in this chapter of the Spanish Monarchy’s presence in the Far East.

Summary
This study focuses on the life and work of Enrique Mayer de Castro (1861- 1931), who was an engraver, jet worker, goldsmith, draughtsman and heraldist. He was chosen as the subject of this study because of his significant contributions to the art of Santiago de Compostela, including: being the person who revived the legendary jet tradition in Compostela; the person who discovered that the technique of boxwood foot had been used in Santiago long before it was used in England; and the artist who illustrated the books of the historian Antonio López Ferreiro with his engravings, which were of great importance for Galician history. The study will analyze the figure of Mayer de Castro from three different perspectives, as well as providing a catalogue of his work.

Summary
In this work, we will explore the reality of women in rural Galicia through the photography of Ruth Matilda Anderson. We will analyze the factors that led to the creation of the Hispanic Society of America and Ruth’s work in Galicia. We will use three specific photographs as sources of information about women's labor that is not documented in other primary sources. The images will serve as a guiding thread to bring us closer to the social and working reality of women in rural Galicia during the 1920s. The aim of this research is to approach the past in a more accurate way, seeking to shed light on an important segment of the rural women and to help break the silence that has excluded them from History.

Summary
The Divine Comedy (1306-1320) by Dante Alighieri constitutes a universal milestone among the masterpieces of Italian literature, being a constant source of inspiration for leading artists such as Botticelli, Blake, Doré, Dalí, etc. The aim of this Master’s Thesis is to propose a virtual exhibition through the various artistic representations of the sins, circles and characters of dantesque Hell. To do so, and after an exhaustive search for images, a discourse and a journey through the History of Art from the Medieval to the Contemporary Era has been elaborated, covering different disciplines, supports and techniques to try to give a didactic, concise and clarifying vision that allows the spectators to approach the allegorical poetry.

Summary
This paper studies the seaside resort-oriented urban development that took place on the coast between Carril and Vilagarcía from 1873 to 1913. Starting from both urban centers, already consolidated in the modern era, we will analyze how the economic and industrial development of their ports, as well as the railway connection with Santiago de Compostela, links with the new cultural uses of the shore (oriented toward health and leisure) promoted by the 19th-century bourgeoisie. This study places us in front of the first attempts at tourism promotion on the Arousa coast. To this end, we will conduct a bibliographic review and a study of historical sources (documentation, plans, drawings, photographs, press, etc.) that will also allow us to analyze specific urban or architectural projects, especially those that can be directly related to summer vacations and new forms of leisure.

Summary
The present dissertation covers the research and analysis of Francoist dictatorship’s social control over leisure and ludic atmosphere in Ourense’s province, framed within informal sociability’s scope. An approach to the “day-to-day” of these populations and to the frames and regulations that moulded them which, directly or indirectly transmit information concerning their communities, the role they assumed within them, and the relations and strategies that arose from the dynamics with the Nuevo Estado. The Francoist regime conceived a complex legislative apparatus, which would be based largely on former codes and regulations. A wide range of regulations and proscriptions, with an aim of control of the wide totality of the population, that will lay out the objectives of surveillance of the dictatorship, allowing us to identify the ways and mechanisms of power used on everyday life, as well as in the manners in which they are exercised, they viability, and the possible dissidences. Ultimately, we seek to understand the reality of daily sociability in Ourense’s province during the Francoist dictatorship, drawn through the adaptation formulas of the population in their encounter with the governmental mechanisms of social regulation.

Summary
The Panificadora de Vigo is one of the most unique buildings in Vigo and one of the best examples of industrial heritage and the use of reinforced concrete, but its importance did not prevent it from total abandonment. Throughout this work a small contribution to the situation of industrial heritage in the Galician legislation and in the city of Vigo will be made. Once the context is known, the history and evolution of the complex will be analyzed, including its protection within the PXOM of Vigo and different attempts of restoration and other recovered industrial spaces. Finally, a museum-conversion proposal aimed at the first and second floor of the north end of the main building and the silos (a bread interpretation room, an art market and a viewpoint) will be provided.

Summary
The study of underwater cultural heritage presents to specific peculiarities, as it involves the research of assets whose main feature is having been found beneath various types of water bodies. A particularly illustrative example is the case of Fragata de las Mercedes, since, in addition to being a shipwreck, it was also the object of plundering, which resulted in a complex legal issue. This frigate sank in 1804 off the coast of the Algarve in Portugal, and it was not until more than two hundred years later, in 2007, that the American company Odyssey Marine Exploration carried out, unofficially, the extraction of a large portion of the shipwreck’s contents. The goal of this Master´s Thesis is analyzing the plundering of La Fragata de Las Mercedes, and the sentence which returned the objects back to Spain as an example of the legal framework which regulates the research and conservation of underwater heritage.

Summary
Since the 1970s, a growing number of women (as art historians, theorists and artists) have promoted a sustained critique of structural gender discrimination in the artistic sphere. This struggle, still ongoing in the 21st century, has permeated various spheres, such as art history, the art market and, most notably, the museum space, which is the focus of our research. Despite certain advances since the new millennium, reflected in greater visibility for women artists and recognition of their production, there is still resistance to effectively incorporating a gender perspective and parity policies in the institutional functioning of museums. Consequently, the main objectives of this research are, on the one hand, to offer a theoretical-methodological framework based on feminist art criticism and, on the other, to analyse the presence of women artists in the museum system, focusing on their representation in collections and exhibition programmes. To do so, we will present the historiographical and museological context in which these claims are inscribed, both internationally and in Spain, with emphasis on the Galician peripheral context. As a practical example, we will approach the CGAC (Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea), a key institution in the Galician art scene, the study of which allows us to evaluate its trajectory and institutional commitment to gender equality.

Summary
The Mogao Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, constitute an exceptional testimony to cultural exchange along the Silk Road for over a thousand years. This study examines its 735 caves with 4,500 square meters of mural paintings and 2,415 sculptures, highlighting its role as a bridge between East and West. Currently, it faces challenges such as tourist pressure, climate change, and the need for conservation specialists. The research documents significant progress: stabilization of 95% of the caves through 15 innovative techniques, 3D digitization of 120 caves, and community programs like Heritage Guardians. Staged solutions are proposed: completing replicas (2024-2026), implementing AI for monitoring (2027-2030), and consolidating the site as a global model (2031-2035). The study demonstrates that the combination of technology (environmental sensors, 3D scanning), international cooperation (Getty Conservation Institute, UNESCO) and local participation enables the preservation of this legacy. As noted by Wang Xudong, director of the Dunhuang Academy: Preserving Mogao is a duty to humanity. The results confirm that, despite challenges, integrated strategies ensure its long-term protection.
