On 18 November 1988, an agreement was signed between the Casa Ducal of Medinaceli Foundation and the University of Santiago by which a section was created in the University Historical Archive consisting of a microfilmed copy of the collections that this foundation possesses relating to Galicia.
The Casa Ducal of Medinaceli, due to various marriages, became a noble house of immense importance for Galicia, given that it held, among others, the Marquisate of Camarasa, San Miguel de las Penas and de la Mota, and the Counties of Amarante and Ribadavia.
At present, part of this collection is digitised and can be consulted in our archive facilities.
