Geography is a science of the territory, a naturalistic and environmental discipline, and at the same time eminently social. Geography provides the essential cultural elements to obtain a broad view of the Earth, its realities, its problems and risks to its inhabitants. But in addition to this broad general view, it provides a broad theoretical and methodological base, as well as techniques and tools for analysing and recommending solutions that help to mitigate or solve the various territorial problems formulated by society.
Geography contributes decisively to the overall understanding of spaces on the different scales of analysis. Its methods of analysis spatially materialise the most abstract ideas of disciplines such as law, economics, sociology or biology, while strengthening the diagnosis and intervention proposals.
In the curriculum of this degree special importance is given to the education and training of the student, so that in planning their activities, excursions and internships outside of the classroom are common.

Aunque no se exige ninguna formación previa específica, para el ingreso en el grado en Geografía y Ordenación del Territorio se recomienda que la formación del alumndo sea de Ciencias Sociales (R.D. 1467/2007, BOE del 6 de noviembre, por el que se establece la estructura del bachillerato y se fijan las enseñanzas mínimas).
Cualidades deseables del futuro estudiante del grado de Geografía y Ordenación del Territorio:
- Que tenga capacidad de observación, análisis, interpretación y síntesis.
- Que manifieste interés por las nuevas tecnologías.
- Que tenga sensibilidad social y medioambiental.
- Que goce con la lectura.
- Que sepa trabajar en equipo.
- Que sea dialogante y tenga dotes para redactar y hablar en público.
1.- El alumnado de primer curso por primera vez a tiempo completo tienen que matricular 60 créditos. Un 15% del alumnado podrá cursar estudios a tiempo parcial (30 créditos).
2.- Continuación de estudios: libre con un máximo de 75 créditos
La USC tiene un programa de alumnos tutores para las titulaciones de grao, de forma que alumnos de últimos cursos, despues de una formación que les facilita la Universidad, realizan tareas de orientación a los alumnos que inician los estudios.

Cuando se produzca la suspensión de un Título oficial, la USC garantiza el adecuado desarrollo efectivo de las enseñanzas que hubieran iniciado sus estudiantes hasta su finalización. Para ello, el Consejo de Gobierno aprueba los criterios relacionados, entre otros, con:
• La admisión de matrículas de nuevo ingreso en la titulación.
• La supresión gradual de la impartición de la docencia.
• Si el título extinguido es sustituido por otro similar (modificando la naturaleza del título), fija las condiciones que facilitan a los/las estudiantes la continuidad de estudios en el nuevo título y las equivalencias entre las materias de uno y otro plan.
Access to Bachelor’s Degree programmes is granted to students with the following degrees/ diplomas or studies, or any other recognized as equivalent to these:
A.1. Spanish Bachiller, European Baccalaureate or International Baccalaureate.
A.2. Baccalaureate from European Union Member States’ education systems or other countries withinternational agreements.
A.3. Advanced Technician in Vocational Training, Advanced Technician in Plastic Arts and Design orAdvanced Technician in Sports Education, from the Spanish Education System.
A.4.Studies carried out in European Union Member States or in other countries with international reciprocal agreements which meet the academic requirements in those States to access their university study programmes.
A.5. Official Spanish university degrees of Diplomado, Arquitecto Técnico, Ingeniero Técnico, Licenciado, Arquitecto, Ingeniero, Graduado or Máster Universitario.

The Faculty of Geography and History has 18 classrooms devoted to teaching. All of them are equipped with computer resources and adapted to the specific characteristics required by the subjects taught. Within this set the center has Physical Geography. Ademáis with field material, receiver GP- The students of the degree also have free access to GIS software licenses.
The Library of the Faculty of Geography and History is entirely within the building of the faculty, and has more than 400 reading positions.
It should also be noted that wireless connection to the Internet is possible from any point of the Faculty.
1. To make a training generalist and character integrated on the fundamental contents of the different subject areas of geography, conceptual development and his research methods.
2. Training for the application of knowledge to the integrated analysis and interpretation of processes and their spatial problems, as well as the territorial diagnoses.
3. To recognize the diversities and complexities of the territories and the relationship of phenomena of environmental nature with other economic, social and cultural.
4. To teach for action and intervention in the territory and in its management, reinforcing the applied and experimental nature of the geographical formation.
5. To develop the specific skills related work techniques, especially those related to the collection, analysis, treatment and representation of geographic information, as well as with the field work.
6. To make the knowledge necessary for the teaching of geography in secondary school, temple impairment of the additional training that is legally set.
7. To create the basis for further graduate study, specialized or cross-disciplinary character, where there is a prominent component of the territorial.
Que los estudiantes hayan demostrado poseer y comprender conocimientos en un área de estudio que parte de la base de la educación secundaria general, y se suele encontrar a un nivel que, si bien se apoya en libros de texto avanzados, incluye también algunos aspectos que implican conocimientos procedentes de la vanguardia de su campo de estudio;
Que los estudiantes sepan aplicar sus conocimientos a su trabajo o vocación de una forma profesional y posean las competencias que suelen demostrarse por medio de la elaboración y defensa de argumentos y la resolución de problemas dentro de su área de estudio;
Que los estudiantes tengan la capacidad de reunir e interpretar datos relevantes (normalmente dentro de su área de estudio) para emitir juicios que incluyan una reflexión sobre temas relevantes de índole social, científica o ética;

1. Disciplinary competencies. Basic knowledge about: human geography, physical geography and environment and regional expertise and thematic expertise, including history, geographical methods and thinking of discipline, the planning, field work.
2. Professional skills. professional practice skills that relate spatial information with a transversal vision, generate explanations of territorial phenomena, and make proposals for intervention and territorial management.
3. Academic skills. To translate basic knowledge into tools for the interpretation of the object of study and performance of the geography, that is territory.
1- Capacidad de ordenar y sintetizar información de origen diverso, entender los sus más y sus menos de una forma multidimensional y transversal.
2- Saber explicar, transmitir y proponer de manera argumentada las soluciones más acomodadas a los sus más y sus menos.
3- Habilidad de ser los protagonistas en suscitar acuerdos en equipos interdisciplinarios, no sólo participar en ellos. Para poder llegar la estos acuerdos, lo/la xeógrafo/la debe entender el lenguaje de otros especialistas que participan en estos equipos.
La movilidad de los/as estudiantes está regulada a través del “Reglamento de intercambios interuniversitarios”. A través de la Oficina de Relaciones Exteriores se gestionan programas de intercambio tanto nacionales (SICUE), como europeos (ERASMUS) y extracomunitarios (intercambios con países de América Latina o países de habla inglesa):
Los alumnos podrán realizar prácticas externas optativas una vez superados 150 créditos, entre ellos todos los de la primera mitad de la titulación. Se reconocerán 6 créditos optativos.
Los alumnos podrán inscribirlo una vez superados 150 créditos, entre ellos todos los de la primera mitad de la titulación. A Facultade ofertará trabajos fin de grado en los dos cuatrimestres.
