Summary
This essay aims to reach a better understanding of the relationship between poverty and economic inequality, as well as to explain the current dynamics leading to the perpetuation of poverty and the rise of inequalities. Thus, it is studied the impact of economic inequalities on poverty and the existence of a long-run trend of decreasing inequalities linked to economic growth, as forecasted by the Kuznets conjecture. For that purpose, a quantitative analysis is run for the case of the Galician municipalities, considering proxy variables of poverty, economic inequality and per capita income. The results show that the proportion of people living under conditions of poverty is greater in the places where there is a higher level of income inequality. Moreover, it is confirmed that there is not any long-run trend towards the decrease in economic inequalities. Therefore, it may arise persistent ‘poverty traps’ in the event that there are no public policies designed to reverse these dynamics.

Summary
The present work focuses on the analysis of the evolution of public housing policies from 1939 to 2024, with the aim of examining the various frameworks for action implemented throughout Spanish democracy. Until 2023, housing policy has been organized through successive housing plans, each lasting up to four years. To achieve a comprehensive investigation, the theoretical framework addresses the right to housing as a fundamental cornerstone of the welfare state, providing various elements that clarify the specificities of housing exclusion. The most vulnerable population segments in terms of housing, such as young people, individuals with disabilities and women, are mentioned. Additionally, the role of local governments in the implementation of these policies is reviewed, highlighting their importance in the promotion of the right to decent housing, as well as the need for an effective collaboration among the different levels of authority within the Spanish state. In the results section, the first national housing law is examined, which sets an ambitious goal of reaching a 20% of social housing in municipalities declared as high- demand areas. Lastly, the work deliberates on whether the issues identified in the scientific literature are addressed in current law, based on recent regulations, and assesses whether significant transformations exist in recent norms.

At the beginning of 2023, Ribeira said its farewells from the bottom of its industrial and foundational heart to the historical Canning Factory of Cerqueira after 133 years of work. This company located in the root of the sailor town was left empty, thus leaving the neighbourhood it gave life to. Before this halt, new different initiatives were born from the citizenship about the use of this area, to museums and even pavilions. All of them seek the same objective, to revitalise the neighbourhood of Bandourrío and recognise the cultural importance of the area. However, which is the best solution? In the following pages the necessities of the resident population in the neighbourhood of Bandourrío, area where the canning factory is placed, will be studied. Its habitants will be the protagonists of this project of public politics in terms of revitalisation of public areas. The viability of each proposal of usage of the abandoned Canning Factory of Cerqueiras will be deeply look at, and a common project will be introduced with the intention of reuniting the agents in an only solution.

Summary
Currently, municipalities in Spain and Galicia face limitations in implementing ambitious and global measures, thus restricting their growth and development. In this context, supramunicipal collaboration formulas present a significant opportunity to implement ambitious and global measures and policies, as well as to establish new forms of cooperation and collaboration involving administrations, organizations, and citizens. In the specific case of the Comarca del Morrazo, modifying the current Mancomunidad would represent a major step forward in promoting and developing the comarca and its municipalities. This Master's Final Project addresses these modifications, so that the Mancomunidad del Morrazo can manage and plan waste management, tourism, mobility, and common infrastructure in a comprehensive manner.

Summary
The migration of Colombians to Spain has been a constant phenomenon in recent decades. This event has enriched cultural diversity and contributed to economic development in Spain. However, the lack of information, of those who arrive without a defined plan and are confronted with the reality of the country, has posed challenges that affect both those who have decided to cross the continent and Spaniards. For this reason, it is essential that the Spanish government communicate in a clear and pedagogical way the steps and requirements needed by those who want to migrate to their country. After analysing the current situation, a communications plan will be proposed which will seek, among other objectives, to prevent irregular migration through information campaigns that educate potential travellers about the legal and safe processes for migration, thus facilitating their effective and legal integration into Spanish society. In addition, detailed information will be provided on the risks and legal consequences of illegal migration. An essential part of the plan will be to strengthen cooperation between the authorities of both countries. This includes showcasing joint assistance and support programs, both in the legal and social fields. This plan aims to build a more informed migration communication model that helps those who have decided or will decide to leave their country. It also aims to be replicable in other Latin American countries, taking advantage of the potential of the migrant population for the development of Spanish society and culture. With this model, the aim is to create a solid foundation for a more organised, safe and beneficial migration for all involved, cementing stronger bilateral relations between Spain and Colombia.

Summary
Women's participation in Colombian politics has been historically limited, facing structural and cultural barriers that persist despite important legislative advances, such as Law 1475 of 2011 that established gender quotas. Although important milestones have been achieved, such as the right to vote in 1954 and the introduction of inclusive reforms in the 1991 Constitution, women remain underrepresented in positions of power, occupying less than 20% of seats in Congress. This deficit in female representation reflects a disconnect between policies of inclusion and a reality that continues to favor male dominance in politics. Despite legislative advances, the barriers faced by women have not been fully dismantled, limiting their access to leadership and threatening the legitimacy of democratic institutions. The thesis focuses on exploring these structural and cultural barriers, and proposes a transformational approach to strengthen women's leadership in Colombia. The main objective is to develop a training plan for women politicians that empowers their skills, helping them to overcome institutional and cultural constraints. This plan will promote transformational leadership that fosters collaboration and innovation, with a view to greater equity in political representation and a more inclusive democracy.

Both the identity of an organization and the communication it carries out are two fundamental elements for any type of organization, even more so within the public sector, because almost any citizen has an opinion about them. The work presented below aims to analyze the identity projected by the Ministry of Equality through its campaigns launched during the period 2020-2023. To do this, a content analysis of the spots associated with these institutional campaigns is carried out, focusing specifically on what objectives it seeks, what themes it focuses on, and what target audience it addresses. This will allow us to take steps to know the general identity of the Ministry of Equality.

Summary
In the past few years, there has been an increase in women’s participation in politics. However, this does not necessarily imply that it affects how politics are practiced. This research conducts a qualitative-descriptive analysis to compare the narrative constructed by Giorgia Meloni and Marine Le Pen regarding migration and gender. The objective is to understand how these leaders make use of feminist language and include performative gender elements in their speeches. In order to do so, we examined five speeches from each one, with the help of Atlas.Ti. The study is based on a theoretical framework that addresses the definition of the far right, nativism, populism, and the relationship between the far right and gender. The study concludes that both draw on rhetorical elements pertaining to the feminist imaginary, but they do so in different ways and for different purposes.

Summary
This work examines how Nicolás Maduro, an atypical populist leader due to his lack of charisma, has used music and spectacle as political communication tools. Maduro has sought to retain his position through constant media and social media presence, aiming to soften his image as a repressor. However, his bread and circuses strategy has failed to generate popular support, leading him to incorporate elements such as repression, electoral fraud, and digital censorship to prolong his regime. This analysis employs music as a methodological tool to distill the complex political landscape of Venezuela, illustrating how Maduro's attempts to mask the decline of chavista populism have proven ineffective.

The objective of this Master's Final Project is to propose a regionalization project in accordance with the socioeconomic dynamics that Galicia is going through, especially taking into account the depopulation of inland territories and the lack of social cohesion. However, this project is innovative, in that it does not seek to emulate the regionalization experience proposed by the Xunta de Galicia in Fraga's time, nor to imitate the existing regionalization project in Catalonia. For this work, the Betanzos region will be used as a case study.

Summary
This Master's Thesis evaluates the effectiveness of public tourism policies in Guayaquil to improve the city's security and perception as a competitive tourist destination. Using a mixed-method approach, including surveys and interviews, it studies the relationship between security perception and tourist influx. Results indicate that although positive measures have been implemented, significant challenges such as the perception of high crime in key tourist areas persist. Recommendations to improve tourism security management are developed, including effective coordination between the municipality, the private sector, and academia, and the implementation of surveillance technologies and tourist police training. The study underscores the importance of sustainable policies to balance economic growth with environmental conservation and social well-being. Implementing these recommendations could significantly transform the perception of security and enhance sustainable tourism development in Guayaquil.

Summary
This document examines the interactions and dynamics between socio-ecological systems (SES) and local economies, utilizing a combination of the Leontief Input-Output model and SES theories to offer an integrated and sustainable approach to territorial planning. Through a detailed analysis of how economic activities interact with and depend on ecosystems and natural resources, the study proposes a methodology that identifies the physical and functional boundaries of landscapes and also assesses the economic impact of land use and natural resource management policies. The methodology applied in this study considers both economic and environmental aspects to promote sustainable development. By integrating economic models and SES analysis, it provides a comprehensive view of the mutual dependencies and long-term impacts of political and economic decisions on local ecosystems.

Summary
This paper is nothing more than an investigation into the recent and confusing concept of Smart City, which has been particularly relevant in the scientific literature on municipal management and the sustainable provision of public services in recent years. The European Union itself includes among its long-term actions the establishment of Smart Cities throughout Europe, as a means of facilitating the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals, and it seems that, in the municipal future, Smart Cities are in trend. Finally, an analysis will be made of the experience of Smart City, Smart City Vigo, to understand more thoroughly what it really means for a city to be “smart”.

Summary
This study carries out a comparative analysis of the biographical profile and the political profile about a political subject in light of the marketing mix theory, with the objective of understanding how these profiles influence the construction and positioning of the candidates image during the electoral campaign. Starting from the structure of the marketing mix, which includes Product, Price, Place and Publicity, we examine how the biographical and political elements are articulated in the electoral marketing strategy. The methodology used to prepare this work is comparative and focuses on the analysis of images, speeches, biographies and the use of scandals and personal circumstances in the media or information dissemination channels. Both traditional and digital channels are analyzed, considering the influence of social networks (RRSS) in the promotion and dissemination of the political product. The findings reveal that the congruence between the biographical and political profile is crucial for the effectiveness of electoral marketing. Likewise, it is observed that the strategic use of biographical milestones and the management of the public image, in combination with a clear definition of political positioning, are determining factors in the public perception. Finally, it is concluded that the marketing mix theory, applied to the political field, offers a useful tool to understand the dynamics of image construction in electoral campaigns, providing recommendations to optimize the adaptation of the biographical and political profile in the electoral marketing strategy.

Summary
This research explores the citizens' perception of the municipal merger between Cesuras and Oza dos Ríos in Galicia. The primary objective is to analyze the impact of the merger on community identity and social capital. The study adopts a qualitative methodology, conducting semi-structured inter-views with ten residents, five from each municipality. The interviews reveal a broad spectrum of re-sponses regarding the merger’s effects, including distrust towards the process, dissatisfaction with pub-lic services, and concerns about cultural and administrative centralization. The findings indicate that, despite the government's expectations of improved efficiency, the merger has created significant social and cultural challenges. These include a weakening of community ties, reduced participation in local governance, and an erosion of trust in public institutions. The research concludes that municipal mer-gers need to consider the social and cultural dynamics of the communities involved to avoid these nega-tive outcomes. Recommendations for future policy include enhancing communication, promoting citizen participation, and addressing the distinct needs of rural areas.

Summary
Nowadays, social networks are configured as another form of mass media and, especially some of them, such as X/Twitter, also offer a support for political information and participation. This paper studies the political uses made of the social network X by the leaders of the main Spanish political parties during the pre-campaign and election campaign for the 2023 general elections. To do so, the online tool FanPage Karma and the CIS Social Media Study were used to observe the content of the more than a thousand publications of these leaders and relate it to the use of social networks in Spain for information. Aspects such as engagement and the political agenda are the focus of the research. The results obtained show that the strategies carried out on social networks by political actors are not aimed at influencing the vote, but rather at reaffirming ideology and polarisation. Likewise, the thematic agendas do not seem to fully explain the engagement achieved by each leader, something that seems to require further research.

Summary
This paper analyses the evolution of vocational education and training in Galicia and Spain, focusing on the promotion and implementation of public policies through communication and marketing services. The study highlights how institutional strategies and promotion are crucial to improve the social perception of VET. The 'silent revolution' of VET, promoted by the Xunta de Galicia, exemplifies the positive impact of these policies in matching skills to the needs of the labour market, improving social perception and increasing enrolment rates. Through case studies, such as the Galician and Spanish case studies, the key factors surrounding the VET brand are explored. The documentary review reveals that effective promotion, coupled with well-designed dissemination campaigns, consolidates vocational training as an attractive and viable educational option, adapted to the needs of the current labour market and the public-productive fabric.

Summary
This research examines the evolution of Podemos' electorate from its emergence in the 2015 general elections to its decline in the 2023 general elections. It addresses how this party, born from the social discontent of the 15-M movement, managed to capture the support of broad sectors of the population, achieving significant electoral successes, such as its entry into institutions in 2015 and its later participation in the coalition government in 2019. The main objective is to analyze the electoral behavior of Podemos' voters in five electoral processes: 2015, 2016, 2019 (April and November), and 2023. The study observes changes among voters, the evolution of the voter profile, and the key factors explaining their voting behavior.

Summary
Leadership is the ability of an individual to influence another individual or a group of individuals in order to reach one or more objectives. This research aims to analyse the leadership success of a sample of students and to examine whether the normal personality, assessed with the Big Five model, can predict such success. To carry out this task, four objectives were established. The first of these is the study of leadership by evaluating leadership self-efficacy and the perceived potential for leadership. The second objective is to analyse the relationship of the dimensions of normal personality with leadership self-efficacy and with the perceived potential for leadership. The third is to know the experience of students in positions related to leadership and their perceptions of the relevance of competencies associated to successful leadership. The final objective is to study the relationship between leadership success and sociodemographic characteristics. These objectives are intended to be achieved by an analysis of bivariate correlations between the variables. The results of this analysis suggest that normal personality of the students can predict their future success in leadership. Leadership success is also influenced by the past leadership experiences of students and their positive perceptions of leadership. In contrast, demographic variables do not show a statistically significant relationship with leadership success except for academic performance.

Summary
The aim of this paper is to analyze the implementation of four regional open government plans in Spain framed within the local Open Government Partnership program by proposing a methodological approach to its analysis. Open government has started to proliferate, as well as the principles related to this concept and therefore, it is interesting to be able to apply a methodology that simply and effectively analyzes the ambition, values and performance of the commitments of each of the plans and can also be extrapolated to other cases. Therefore, this study seeks to understand and classify the commitments of the open government plans in order to test the proposed methodology, identify its advantages, inconveniences and areas of improvement to finally conclude whether the plans constitute true change for the promotion of open government.

Summary
This paper aims to analyze the importance of political marketing and an adequate design of the candidate’s profile to create an adequate image in the mind of the potential voter and, therefore, obtain favorable results in future elections. To this end, a theoretical framework is presented that begins with a study of the concept of political marketing, the 7 P’s, their strategies and current marketing. There is also a second part focused on the importance of the candidate's profile, their image and archetypes. And all this theoretical selection was later used for the analysis of the candidate Miguel Ángel Revilla and to study his political profile and his marketing strategies. To this end, a qualitative methodology based on the review of articles, interviews and books was used. Once the research is finished, a series of conclusions are drawn that reinforce the value of a good design of the candidate’s profile, image and communication, since this is the real imagen of the party.

Eleven people a day decide to end their own lives. According to the National Institute of Statistics (INE), Lugo is the head of the Spanish provinces with the most suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, with 15.6 people. This figure creates a difference of 6.6 people with the European average.Celso Arango, head of psychiatry at the Gregorio Marañón, also points out that suicide is already the main cause of death among young people between the ages of 16 and 19.With these data, this paper seeks to define suicide as a public problem that can be the protagonist of an institutional communication campaign for its prevention.Prior to the proposal of a public policy and its institutional campaign, six communication actions will be analyzed, both public and private, as well as national and international.

Summary
The main objective of this paper is to explore the role played by podcasts in the media scene of Galicia. It has a triple scope because, although the study focuses on podcasts, it aims to know the relationship between them, political parties and Xunta de Galicia, at the same time getting to know what it is like to work with them and how their communication is developed within this media scene. Political communication occurs in order for citizens to know their government and political class’ actions as a way to report back. Citizens must know the actions of the government and the opposition in order to evaluate them to make their electoral decision accordingly, ensuring the democratic nature of the society in which it takes place (Canel, 2006). The exercise of political communication has always taken into account the media as distributors of information since they are the main distribution channel. Their relevance is linked to their capacity to set agenda and to determine today’s issues and discussions (Bouza, 2020). Nevertheless, this was modified with the development of the Internet. The Internet changes the way and consumption of communication are addressed as it is now the main source of information to young people (Newman et al. 2023). Social media allows the number of creators to grow, users who can produce information and who are now participants in public discussions. These creators have developed the creation of new media and it is at this point where podcasts come into scene. A podcast is an audio format that is listened to on demand, often from mobile applications (Tobiun and Guagdano, 2022). Some of their advantages are the accessibility, a wide range of issues to discuss , a sense of intimacy and the relationship created between listeners and podcasters. Furthermore, because of the national increase of podcasts and their frequent political-related discussions, this paper aims to to know the motivation of podcasters and politicians in this format in Galicia’s context. To achieve this, a search of Galicians podcasts is conducted, and three of them are chosen to be studied; Café Derby 21, a cultural podcast that shows relevant figures of the moment in Galicia, and Carreteando and Ou Ké, whose central axis is politics. Although their approach is different, both generate debates and conversations about Galicia’s political situation. Firstly, a content analysis is done to deeply explore the different projects. After that, interviews with podcasters, political parties and Xunta de Galicia, are conducted in order to depict the media scene of Galicia and the role played by podcasts.

Summary
In 2024, two regional elections will take place in Galicia and the Basque Country, which have their own political dynamics reflected in their own electoral systems. Although there will be no changes in the governments, these processes will result in several significant changes for the Galician and Basque political forces, both at the organisational and electoral levels. The nationalist forces on the left increased their support and consolidated themselves as the main alternatives, intensifying political competition. The importance of the ideological and identity variables in explaining the dynamics of political competition and voting behaviour in the Basque and Galician cases is also evident. In this paper we will analyse these two electoral processes, observing the changes that take place among voters, what is the voter profile of each party and what characterises it, the way in which political competition is articulated and what are the main explanatory factors of the vote for the main parties in each political system.

Summary
This research analyzes the agendas of the media and the main political parties during the 2024 electoral campaign for the regional elections in Galicia. The objective of this document is to determine whether there was a coalition of agendas between these actors in order to guide the electorate towards certain issues far from the real concerns of the citizenry. The work presents an in-depth comparison of which were the most recurrent themes presented by the candidates during the 15 days prior to the voting and which were published in the media. In this way, the different communication strategies used by the parties are also observed based on the type of audience they were targeting and the subject that was addressed.

Summary
The dissertation analyses the development of local governance in Africa, with a case study focusing on Cape Verde, an island nation in the PALOP. It examines how decentralisation and local autonomy influence socio-economic and political development and promote the opening up of isolated regions. The research covers the transition from the pre-colonial model of governance, through the structures imposed by colonialism, to post-independence and democratic systems. It also assesses the normative and institutional framework of local governments in African countries and proposes recommendations for strengthening these structures as agents of development and regional integration.

Summary
This master's thesis aims to identify whether the Twitter communication of the President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, during his first presidential term from 2019 to 2023, aligns with a model of permanent campaigning. The topic is situated within the context of the study of digital government communication in political science and seeks to: 1. Characterise the government communication by President Nayib Bukele according to the characteristics of permanent campaigning. 2. Distinguish the themes or categories around which President Nayib Bukele's discourse revolves. 3. Identify the central narrative of President Nayib Bukele's communication. To achieve these objectives, a qualitative approach was employed, using content analysis techniques, and the data were analysed using the Atlas.ti tool. The study sample consisted of 808 tweets from the president’s personal account @nayibbukele, corresponding to the period from 1 June 2019 to 1 December 2023, during his first presidential term. The main findings indicate that 54% of his communication meets at least one of the characteristics of government communication that correspond to a permanent campaign, prioritising the pursuit of legitimacy for his government (69.34%). These results suggest that his communication has largely sought to sustain trust in his government in preparation for the 2024 re-election. Furthermore, he has employed a narrative of constant attacks on his enemies, who are not only other political parties but also the international community, NGOs, and even the media.
