The Master in Psychology (90 credits) includes two specialties:

  • Specialty in Psychology of Social and Community Intervention
  • Specialty in Experimental Psychology.

Students must, necessarily, opt for one of the specialties, which will be reflected in the degree certificate:

  1. Master in Psychology: Specialty in Social and Community Psychology; or
  2. Master in Psychology: Specialty in Experimental Psychology

The objective of the degree is to provide advanced training in Psychology that enables the development of research and professional practice on each of the specialties.

The specialty in Psychology of Social and Community Intervention has a fundamentally applied character, and it is aimed at providing the advanced training required for the professional practice of Psychology in social and community intervention programs in both public and private institutions.

The specialty in Experimental Psychology aims both to train for the subsequent access to Doctorate programs, as well as to provide training for the research and professional practice of Psychology in laboratory environments and for the management of research projects.

El máster contempla dos especialidades:

Cada estudiante debe optar, obligatoriamente, por una especialidad.

Para obtener el título en una especialidad, además de las materias obligatorias, el estudiante deberá cursar el modulo de materias vinculadas a la especialidad elegida, 24 créditos optativos de la especialidad y otros seis a elegir de entre todas las materias optativas del máster, sean de la especialidad o no. El practicum y el Trabajo fin de máster (TFM) deberán realizarse en el campo de la especialidad elegida.

Sería deseable que los/as alumnos/as del Máster muestren interés en adquirir los conocimientos y competencias dirigidos a la formación avanzada en los ámbitos de especialidad ofertados en el Máster, así como la capacidad de desarrollar y aplicar las habilidades de interacción que va a requerir su desempeño profesional en estas áreas de especialización

El máster desarrollará su propia actividad de presentación y acogida de los/as nuevos/as estudiantes en el inicio de cada Curso Académico con una sesión, esencialmente a cargo de la persona coordinadora del Máster, en la se aportará a los/as estudiantes información acerca de los objetivos principales del título, las competencias y destrezas que deben ser alcanzadas al final del mismo, el Prácticum y el Trabajo de Fin de Máster en función de cada especialidad. Será también objeto de esta sesión la información sobre los servicios de apoyo al aprendizaje (Campus Virtual, Biblioteca, recursos informáticos y de tecnologías de la comunicación) y a las gestiones académicas (servicios administrativos del centro y generales; estructura de dirección académica de la Facultad).

Por su parte, el vicerrectorado con competencias en estudiantes de la USC realiza acciones informativas (bien presenciales en los centros docentes, o bien a través de las TIC) que se desarrollan en la primera quincena del curso académico en todos los centros universitarios para dar a conocer los recursos y servicios de carácter general de los que dispone la Universidad. La USC cuenta también con otros recursos de apoyo para los/as estudiantes, tales como la reserva de plazas en las Residencias Universitarias, o el Programa de Atención a Estudiantes Extracomunitarios (PATEX) del Vicerrectorado con competencias en internacionalización, a través del cual se realizan tareas de acompañamiento dirigidas a la integración en la ciudad y en la Universidad de los/as estudiantes procedentes de otros países.

Además, la Facultad de Psicología desarrolla a lo largo del curso acciones de apoyo y orientación a los/as estudiantes matriculados, mantiene actualizado permanentemente un portal web de la Facultad en el que se presenta la información de interés (e. g.: anuncios de cursos, charlas y actividades, horarios de clase, calendario de exámenes, programas de asignaturas, horario de tutorías del profesorado, normativas), y desarrolla cursos de presentación y formación de usuarios/as para conocer y adquirir dominio de los servicios que se prestan y del manejo de los recursos disponibles en el sistema de bibliotecas de la USC.

La atención más específica desde el órgano académico responsable del máster se prevé, principalmente, a través del coordinador/a del máster y de los coordinadores/as de cada una de sus especialidades. Dado el número de estudiantes previstos, es perfectamente factible una atención personalizada a las dudas y necesidades de cada estudiante, que se complementará con reuniones para orientar sobre procesos específicos, especialmente Prácticum y TFM, que se realizarán, de modo ordinario, durante el segundo semestre de primer curso.

A los/as estudiantes extranjeros que tengan dificultades con las lenguas utilizadas en el máster se los orientará para que contacten con el Centro de Lenguas Modernas (CLM) de la USC que ofrece cursos de español para extranjeros/as y de gallego para personas que no hablan esta lengua.

Para acceder aos ensinos oficiais de Máster será necesario estar en posesión de:
A.1. Un título universitario oficial español.
A.2. Un título expedido por unha institución de educación superior pertencente a outro Estado integrante do Espazo Europeo de Educación Superior que faculte no mesmo para o acceso a ensinos de Máster.
A.3. Un título pertencente a un sistema educativo alleo ao Espazo Europeo de Educación, previa comprobación pola Universidade de que o citado título acredita un nivel de formación equivalente aos correspondentes títulos universitarios oficiais españois e faculta no país expedidor do título para o acceso a ensinos de posgrao.
A.4. Un título superior das Ensinanzas Artísticas Superiores do sistema educativo español.

- Poseer y comprender conocimientos que aporten una base u oportunidad de ser originales en el desarrollo y/o aplicación de ideas, a menudo en un contexto de investigación

Las prácticas externas de la Especialidad en Intervención Social y Comunitaria podrán desarrollarse en centros que cubren las principales modalidades de la práctica profesional de los/as psicólogos/as de la intervención social y comunitaria, y que se relacionan directamente con los contenidos formativos de la titulación. El tipo de convenios que la Facultad de Psicología firma con cada centro garantiza además que en ellos los/as estudiantes estarán bajo la guía y supervisión de un/a psicólogo/a con experiencia profesional suficiente y documentada.

Las prácticas vinculadas a la Especialidad en Psicología Experimental consistirán en la realización de experimentos de laboratorio y en la participación en investigaciones del ámbito de la psicología básica relacionados con las líneas desarrolladas por el profesorado de la especialidad

El Trabajo de Fin de Máster (TFM) consta de 12 créditos y podrá consistir en un trabajo empírico relacionado con cualquiera de las líneas temáticas que se oferten en la especialidad. El/la estudiante deberá realizar y presentar un trabajo de investigación que debe constar de las siguientes partes: Introducción, objetivos, materiales y métodos, resultados, discusión, conclusiones y bibliografía.

The Master’s is taught by teaching staff mainly from the Faculty of Psychology of the USC. Teachers of other Faculties of the USC, and of other national and foreign Universities, also collaborate. All teachers are PhD, with proven teaching and research experience.
