Summary
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing our perception and the way we interact with technologies. In a journalistic environment characterized by rapid changes and a constant quest for innovation, it is essential to explore the broad possibilities that AI offers. Although still in an early stage and primarily used for simple tasks, more and more media outlets are adopting this technology in their workflows to enhance efficiency and content quality. This project aims to deeply and professionally explore the limits and opportunities AI presents for journalists. From automating tasks such as information gathering and report writing to more complex endeavors like video production and text narration, all focused on specific informative themes such as the environment. This practical approach ensures that the learning gained is directly applicable to the daily work of a journalist, providing tools to improve effectiveness and innovation in content production. Specifically, through this initiative, the growing issue of ocean pollution and its risks to human health are comprehensively addressed, as pollutants like plastics and microplastics enter the food chain. This approach not only aims to inform the public but also to raise awareness about a crucial issue through the strategic and ethical application of AI in modern journalism.

Summary
It is evident that the democratization of digital tools has radically transformed the process of creating, distributing, and consuming images, turning them into a unique language that has redefined how we perceive reality. This new paradigm introduces critical challenges, especially as the growing prevalence of manipulated images contributes to a deeper erosion of visual trust. As a result, there is an urgent need for a robust form of visual literacy that enables individuals to distinguish between what is real and what is artificial with efficiency and critical awareness. Visual literacy, understood as the ability to interpret and produce images in a critical and informed way, is a concept that has evolved steadily since the 1960s, incorporating increasingly complex ethical, political, and sociocultural dimensions. This evolution has been dramatically disrupted by the rise of generative artificial intelligence, which blurs the boundaries between reality and simulation, calling into question the balance between truth and plausibility. In this research, using a systematic literature review approach, we analyze how technological accessibility acts as a key agent in the reconfiguration of image production and interpretation. Furthermore, we explore the urgent need for a reeducation of the gaze, a conscious, critical, and ethical engagement with visual content, in a society saturated with visual stimuli. This reeducation is essential to preserve the credibility of communication systems and media institutions in the face of increasing image manipulation; and it must be accompanied by the development of new ethical frameworks and regulatory standards. Such reeducation will be crucial to navigating the visual challenges posed by artificial intelligence without sacrificing the core values of truthful and transparent communication.

Summary
This master's thesis analyses the role and importance of data in television broadcasts and journalistic coverage of Formula 1, the main motor racing competition and the most followed annual sports series in the world. Through a mixed methodology, combining in-depth interviews with six specialized journalists and an audiovisual content analysis, the study compares their presence and function across different media - television, radio, print press, and digital media - and explores the historical evolution of their representation in television broadcasts. The results show that the increasing technification of the category has led to an increasingly intensive use of data in journalistic coverage, with a special prominence in print press, digital media and television. Likewise, a sustained increase in the presence of data in television broadcasts during the last two decades is observed, with a notable intensification in the last ten years. The analysis also reveals changes in the use of data according to their duration, moment of appearance in the race, narrative focus, or explanatory function, as well as elements that have remained stable throughout the studied period. ..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Summary
The Cinema They See is a native medium for film criticism networks developed on Instagram that suggests a methodological renewal of the field, integrating film analysis with the emotional experience of the non-specialist spectator. Based on interviews centred on an initial question - What is your favourite film and why?-, the project builds a hybrid model that articulates affective testimony with tools from film theory. It breaks with traditional logics by recognising personal taste as a legitimate entry point for thinking about film as a cultural phenomenon. The editorial objective is to democratise film criticism, underlining that emotion, far from being a purely subjective response, constitutes a legitimate and valid tool for analysis. This approach invites us to consider that cinema is not only contemplated, but also remembered, lived and shared, encouraging a reflection that is inclusive and authentic. Thus, it seeks to foster a space in which film is understood not only as a cultural product, but also as a vehicle for introspection and dialogue. The project also aims to provide users with tools that encourage critical thinking and collective reflection on film as a cultural, aesthetic and social phenomenon, with the aim of expanding and enriching the experience of the act of watching. At the same time, it aspires to recommend a wide variety of films, understanding that one of the most valuable horizons of this proposal is precisely to generate enthusiasm and motivate users to discover new cinematographic works. This Master's thesis (TFM) is framed within the product category. The first part consists of a theoretical framework that deals with the study of specialised journalism, cultural journalism, digital native media and film criticism, in order to support the development of the product. In the second part, design strategies, project planning and design thinking are applied to the ideation and execution of the proposed project.

Summary
OU ké! is a digital transmedia political journalism media based in Ourense whose essential purpose is to bring local and regional politics closer to an audience aged between 18 and 40 who typically feel alienated from conventional news streams. To achieve this, it employs audiovisual formats and social media dynamics: live debates on YouTube; educational capsules on Instagram and TikTok; and youth roundtables that give young people a voice. It combines journalistic rigor and entertainment with clear objectives: raising awareness about electoral processes, fostering critical participation, and finding sustainability models that ensure its independence and continuity, whether through sponsorship by the media itself or by acting as an audiovisual production company for third parties. As the project has grown, its content themes have also diversified to attract new audiences. In addition to politics, OU ké!’s core focus, it covers cultural events, socio cultural debates, and interviews with figures from the world of film, music, and other arts in Galicia. Sports, through the Maniotas format, has become a way to tell personal stories of effort and resilience, giving voice to athletes from the city of Ourense and its surroundings, across a wide range of disciplines and categories. Its clear language, easily consumable formats, and presence across various social platforms make this project ambitious in reaching a social media consumer audience that has largely moved away from the dynamics of traditional media. Leaving nothing unexplained, OU ké! reaches those who feel no one ever bothered to explain anything to them.

Summary

Summary
The following research aims to analyze the attitudes, perceptions, and behaviors of the audience regarding payment for digital news content, considering variations based on user profile, type of content, or media financing model, as well as their loyalty strategies and the generation of added value for the reader. In turn, it seeks to under-stand how different financing models affect issues such as the credibility of the media and the perception of editorial independence. To this end, a mixed-methods study was carried out using a survey as a quantitative technique and a focus group as a qualitative complement. The survey sample was based on 101 responses from individuals over the age of 18 residing in the Galician region, aiming to gather a diverse and representative view of news consumption. Additionally, the focus group aimed to concentrate on the perception of young audiences who consume news media. The results of the analysis reveal, among other findings, a majority trust in subscription-based models and a growing distrust toward public subsidies, understood as a form of political control that may compromise content autonomy. It was also found that premium benefits are not among the main factors influencing the decision to pay, and that more abstract elements, such as prestige or the professional trajectory of the media outlet, play an important role, although the relationship between the print format and perceived prestige is not conclusive.

Summary
This Master's Thesis presents Fogatas Recónditas (Recondite Bonfires), a journalistic and narrative podcast project dedicated to exploring and disseminating the myths and legends of Galician culture. The project features a five-episode first season where journalists Federico Marchiori (from Italy) and Sergio Moino (from Venezuela) journey through Galicia to uncover and analyze ancestral tales such as the Santa Compaña (Holy Company), the Meigas (Witches), the Lavandeiras (Washerwomen), Samhain, and the Reina Lupa (Queen Lupa). The podcast employs a hybrid format that merges immersive audio fiction, rigorous journalistic investigation, and an intercultural analysis, thereby building a bridge between Galician folklore and the traditions of the authors' home countries. A cornerstone of Fogatas Recónditas is its commitment to technological innovation as a means to enhance Galician oral heritage. The project extensively integrates generative artificial intelligence across various stages: from assisting in scriptwriting and generating visuals for its graphic identity, to creating sound effects and modifying voices to bring the legendary characters to life. Furthermore, the project expands its narrative universe through a transmedia strategy, featuring a conversational Telegram bot, @MeigaSabela_Bot, which interacts with the audience by adopting the persona of a meiga. To foster an active and loyal community of listeners, the initiative includes a collection of NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) titled Reliquias de Fogatas Recónditas (Relics of Recondite Bonfires). These digital assets, conceived as narrative artifacts, are offered exclusively to subscribers, turning them into collectors and active participants in the story. The podcast, designed to align with modern digital consumption habits, is distributed for free on major audio platforms. Ultimately, Fogatas Recónditas not only aims to preserve Galician oral tradition but also serves as a laboratory for digital narratives, demonstrating the potential of the audio format as a tool for cultural dissemination and establishing a format that could be extended to other regions in the future.

Summary
The Immense Liego is a social and anthropological documentary that explores in depth the phenomenon of rural depopulation in the province of Soria, one of the areas most affected by this process in inland Spain. Through a sensitive lens, the project delves into the daily reality of the inhabitants of Soria's villages, highlighting their struggles, hopes, and forms of resistance in the face of institutional abandonment and uprooting. With a participatory and observational approach, the documentary gives voice to the people affected by this reality, allowing their own testimonies and experiences to build a collective, honest, and deeply human narrative. It is not just about showing figures or diagnoses, but about telling personal stories that reveal the emotional, cultural, and social impact of depopulation. The work thus proposes a critical, yet empathetic, interpretation of a problem that transcends the local level and is reflected in many rural regions in Europe and around the world. The audiovisual proposal combines tools from journalism, visual ethnography, and the languages of contemporary art to offer a rigorous and committed representation of the communities portrayed. Its curated aesthetic, slow editing, and commitment to active listening create an immersive experience that challenges the viewer through reflection and sensitivity. The Immense Liego is intended as the starting point for a broader transmedia project, conceived as a living, collaborative, and ever-evolving archive. This archive brings together memories, photographs, letters, sounds, and other materials contributed by the rural communities of Soria themselves, thus generating a space for dialogue and cultural resistance to oblivion. More than a simple documentary, it is an invitation to rethink the connection between territory, identity, and the future.

Summary
In contemporary democratic societies, access to information is a fundamental right closely linked to active citizen participation in public life. In this context, media outlets, especially in their digital form, play a crucial role in guaranteeing this right. Their responsibility goes beyond delivering truthful and plural content; they are also obliged to ensure that such information is accessible to all individuals, including those with visual impairments. In today’s increasingly digitalized world, ensuring the accessibility of online content is essential. For blind or visually impaired people, an accessible web and digital environment is indispensable, as they rely on assistive technologies such as NVDA and JAWS screen readers on Windows, or VoiceOver on Apple devices. However, despite the existence of national and international regulations requiring compliance with standards such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), various studies and reports, including those by Fundación ONCE and academic works on journalistic accessibility, reveal a significant gap between legal requirements and the practical reality of digital media. This study aims to carry out an exploratory and critical analysis of the level of accessibility offered by the websites and mobile applications of the main newspapers in Spain and Galicia. Selected radio stations and on-demand audiovisual platforms will also be included, evaluating not only the accessibility of the interface, but also the availability of features such as audio description in series and films. Through this research, the goal is to identify best practices, highlight existing shortcomings, and, when necessary, propose concrete improvements that promote a truly inclusive informational and cultural experience. Ultimately, this study seeks to assess the actual accessibility of major Spanish digital media from the perspective of blind or visually impaired individuals, analyzing both technical aspects and user experience. Only through the effective implementation of inclusive measures can the full right to information and civic participation be guaranteed for all citizens, without exception.

Ruada Gastronómica is a project to disseminate Galician gastronomy that aims to reach Galician gastronomic culture to the galician young people. For this, informative and entertaining contents has been created to address various aspects of Galician gastronomy such as traditional recipes, restaurant establishments or gastronomic festivals, among others. This project is made up of a web space, which delves into all the topics covered, and also has an Instagram account, which presents microcontent that draws the attention of our target audience and invites participation, given that this project is essentially about collaborating, learning and sharing about gastronomy in a friendly environment. The main objective to be achieved with this project is to promote and strengthen Galician gastronomy and culinary culture among young people, thus promoting the intergenerational transfer of gastronomic knowledge. To achieve this great objective, we first propose a series of steps to be achieved: - Promote an intergenerational meeting point through recipes, compiling and sharing the recipes that our elders taught us. - Develop an information channel on Galician gastronomy through which the general public can stay up to date with Galician gastronomic events. Promote culinary talent and modern cuisine originating from the culinary tradition. - Introduce young people to the tradition and history that surrounds Galician gastronomy. All this is intended to be done in a fun, friendly and collaborative way through a multimedia language with which to create attractive and easy-to-consume content for our target audience.

Summary
The coverage of armed conflicts has gained unprecedented relevance due to the historical moment in which we find ourselves, having reached the highest number of active conflicts since World War II, 56 according to the latest report from the Institute for Economics and Peace. The globalization of information, along with immediate access to news through digital platforms, has profoundly changed the way these events are communicated and reach the general public. This study analyzes how war correspondents, or simply journalists sent to areas where such situations arise, select and construct journalistic narratives when reporting on conflicts, focusing on the two wars most covered by Spanish media in recent months: the war between Russia and Ukraine, and the conflict between Israel and Palestine. Through the analysis of journalistic pieces from representative and widely consulted media outlets, as well as testimonies from information professionals dedicated to this type of reporting, the study seeks to offer a more specific understanding of the realities they face and the ways in which the media approach such sensitive situations. In addition, the role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and alternative media is examined, as they have managed to position themselves as key actors in the construction of narratives and the public perception of conflicts through social media platforms. The findings help to better understand the construction and dissemination of information on armed conflicts, providing insights into the evolution of war journalism in the digital age.

Summary
This Master's Final Project develops GramPress Creative, a digital consultancy specialized in audiovisual strategies for local media outlets in Galicia, with a focus on the Instagram platform and the creation of a professional website. The project arises in response to the challenges that traditional media face in their digital transformation process, especially in local contexts where resources and innovation capacity are often limited. In this scenario, GramPress Creative proposes an innovative business model that integrates digital profile audits, visual content design, strategic social media management, high-impact campaigns, and specialized training for editorial teams. The main goal is to enhance visibility, reach, and engagement with digital audiences, while preserving and strengthening each media outlet’s journalistic identity, informative values, and territorial roots. Throughout the project, a comprehensive value proposition is developed, including a dissemination plan, the creation of a corporate website, a professional Instagram profile that acts as a live showcase of services, and the implementation of pilot cases that validate the concept through practical application. Additionally, the project presents detailed financial estimates, an analysis of the necessary human and technical resources, an evaluation of return on investment (ROI), and a contingency plan that ensures operational sustainability under various scenarios. The results demonstrate both the economic and strategic feasibility of the project, as well as its potential to support the digital adaptation of local media in Galicia. GramPress Creative is conceived as a replicable and scalable model, built on visual innovation, social responsibility, and local engagement, contributing to the strengthening of the Galician media ecosystem in a rapidly evolving and competitive digital environment.

Summary
This Master's Research Project analyses the diglossic situation between Castilian and Galician through the study of opinion columns published on Tuesdays and Sundays in the newspaper La Voz de Galicia throughout the year 2023. One of the main objectives was to examine the relationship between sociolinguistic topics and the media, using this newspaper as a reference due to its relevance in the Galician context, as it is the most widely circulated and influential media outlet in the bilingual autonomous community of Galicia. The research is structured around a theoretical approach based on contributions from sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, and media studies, fields that converge in understanding how linguistic reality is reflected in a major media platform. To test the hypotheses regarding the possible existence of diglossia in this communicative space, a quantitative analysis was carried out, consisting of the systematic collection of articles from the selected corpus and identifying the language used in each case. The results revealed a clear predominance of Castilian, both in numerical terms and in the treatment of the topics discussed, which confirms the presence of a diglossic situation. In addition, a qualitative analysis was conducted on a representative sample of articles focusing on sociolinguistic themes, applying tools from critical discourse analysis. This final phase allowed for a closer examination of the opinions and stances of certain authors regarding the linguistic reality in Galicia, revealing the underlying ideologies present in the published discourses.

Summary
In the context of new media, Douyin short videos have rapidly become a key platform for information dissemination in China, thanks to their highly interactive, high-frequency, and fragmented characteristics. This phenomenon has attracted active participation from national media, local outlets, and independent content creators. Users not only access information through short videos but also engage in active expression and feedback in the comment sections. This study adopts a multiple case study and content analysis approach, selecting three representative Douyin news accounts: CCTV News (national media), Elephant News (local mainstream media), and XinWenJie (news influencer). It focuses on ten categories of socially relevant news events that occurred in the first half of 2025,including culture and entertainment, economic policy, natural disasters, educational examinations, international emergencies, civil rights, social issues, public health, science and technology, and the judicial system. A total of 30 high-interaction short videos were collected, along with the top 50 “liked” comments under each, resulting in 1,360 user comments for analysis. Through comparative analysis of narrative styles, linguistic strategies, tag usage, and audience interaction patterns, this study explores how different types of media adapt their content to Douyin’s algorithmic environment. The findings show that the three accounts represent distinct communication paths: institutional authority, local proximity, and emotional storytelling highlighting the diversity of media strategies and the complex interplay between content, platform, and user engagement in China’s short-video ecosystem.
Summary
This research aims to analyze the current state of academic production on deepfakes applied to political communication, as well as to explore the detection capabilities of such content among the digitally native younger population. To this end, a mixed-method approach was adopted, combining a systematic review of scientific literature from the Scopus and Web of Science databases with an empirical detection test conducted with a sample of 112 individuals aged between 18 and 30. The survey included a range of variables in order to identify potential factors associated with detection performance. The results show a positive performance in the detection test, where 88.4% of the participants correctly identified the videos. However, no significant correlations have been observed with the analyzed variables. This suggests that the threat posed by deepfakes is transversal and does not affect only specific profiles. Based on these findings, the study highlights the need to update media literacy frameworks by incorporating competencies related to artificial intelligence, and to reaffirm the role of fact-checking journalism as a barrier against audiovisual disinformation. Finally, the study warns about the growing unreliability of video as informative evidence, given its increasing vulnerability to digital manipulation.

Summary
Since the first steps and experiments of modern media in the 20th century, there has been both a communal and educational focus behind the operation of these platforms. As these media outlets became more professional, the communication channels that maintained this communal role continued to operate outside of commercial information fields, taking on the role of alternative news stations. Dedicated to sharing information from all possible fields, alternative media began to disseminate content outside the commercial sphere occupied by large news conglomerates. Alternative stations and publishers dedicated themselves to sharing a new face of information in a precarious manner, sometimes bordering on the legal issue. During the 20th century, these media struggled with numerous adversities, but with the arrival of the internet, their nature changed radically. With this new form of communication brought about by the application of the internet to traditional media, alternative channels experimented with new ways of operating, maintaining themselves, and reaching new corners of the world, creating new communities. This paper compares case studies to see how these alternative media have evolved over the course of their existence and then analyzes their changes with the introduction of the Internet as an essential element in all functional areas of these media outlets. This case study addresses objectives and hypotheses developed within a theoretical framework to understand the history of these media, their evolution, their present and their possible future.

Summary
This Master's Thesis on Product presents lowpro. Magazine, a digital magazine project designed for Instagram about music and contemporary urban culture. The purpose of this platform is to give visibility, from a perspective of respect and knowledge, to all those creative profiles who, despite not receiving the necessary attention on the covers or headlines of other media, their work is essential to the development of the urban cultural scene. These are: producers, DJs, designers, photographers, promoters, collectives, and clubs. Similarly, lowpro. Magazine proposes a critical and contextualized reading of urban cultural movements, with the aim of understanding their direct influence on pop culture and current creative scenes. This document covers all phases of the project's development, from its conceptualization and strategic planning to its execution, evaluation, and future viability analysis. The methodology applied follows a staged-specific project management approach and the launch of the medium, utilizing tools from the fields of communication and digital creation. It created and published three key formats in three distinct areas: interviews with prominent figures in the urban scene, informative videos in reel format, and recommendations of recent music releases. Since the official launch of the @lowpro.magazine account on March 3, 2025, a total of thirteen posts have been shared, reaching nearly 19,000 unique accounts and surpassing 50,000 cumulative views in total. These figures have validated the community's interest and also garnered organic interactions with verified profiles and key creatives from the urban scene, strengthening its position as an emerging media outlet with its own unique perspective. This project demonstrates the true potential of an independent media outlet, built on a thoughtful editorial approach, a coherent visual identity, and a committed cultural narrative. Thanks to its culturally linked mission and its thoughtful graphic design, lowpro. Magazine not only aims to establish itself as a leading space in the digital ecosystem, but also to propose new ways of communicating the urban world with rigor and sensitivity, with forward-looking perspectives.

Summary
More than nine years have passed since the Chinese founder Yiming Zhang launched the “TikTok” app in September 2016. One of the main controversies surrounding this platform is the common perception that “TikTok” is an identical replica of “YouTube.” The aim of this study is, first, to analyze the fundamental differences and similarities between both apps through a historical, communicative, and multimedia approach, in order to provide a more critical and objective perspective. Secondly, it seeks to explore the perceptions of two distinct populations, Spanish and Chinese, especially among the younger generation, regarding these points of comparison, attempting to identify the causes behind these perceptions. This master's thesis comparatively analyzes the platforms TikTok and YouTube, based on the emergence of their comparison due to their growing prominence in the digital ecosystem. General and specific objectives are proposed to guide the research, as well as a hypothesis that seeks to be verified through the study. The theoretical framework addresses the background, development, and current situation of each platform, allowing us to understand its evolution and positioning. From this, their similarities and differences are explored in depth, considering aspects such as content format, audience, business model, and user interaction. The methodology used includes quantitative data collection and analysis techniques, the interpretation of which is presented in the statistical analysis. Finally, a critical discussion of the results is conducted, relating them to the initial hypothesis and proposing relevant conclusions for the study of the impact and transformation of digital media.
