The degree in Business and Technology has been recently introduced in the USC, more specifically at the Lugo Campus. It is offered at the Faculty of Business Administration since the 2020/2021 academic year in the in person learning mode, and will begin with the blended learning mode in the 2021/2022 academic course.
This degree aims at training professionals who will be able to manage firm's technical innovation, with a deep knowledge in the application of technical solutions to business administration. To this end, the degree combines specific topics on both business and technology management, promoting the development of managing skills for business initiative through a highly applied perspective.

The degree in Business and Technology has been recently introduced in the USC, more specifically at the Lugo Campus. It is offered at the Faculty of Business Administration since the 2020/2021 academic year in the in person learning mode, and will begin with the blended learning mode in the 2021/2022 academic course. 

It is a unique degree, only offered in three other Spanish universities in Madrid and Barcelona.

This degree aims at training professionals who will be able to manage firm´s technical innovation, with a deep knowledge in the application of technical solutions to business administration. To this end, the degree combines specific topics on both business and technology management, promoting the development of managing skills for business initiative through a highly applied perspective.

These professionals will end up the degree with a wide and deep knowledge on business administration and management and on the technological context, which comprises a diversity of competences and skills in the context of digital marketing, strategic business management and innovation, digital economy, integrated management systems, web and mobile applications, technologies for processes in smart-industries or project management, among others.

This degree includes two mentions:

-Mention in Business Development and Entrepreneurship.
-Mention in Information and Technology Management.

Students can choose to obtain the degree with a specialisation, for which they must take the 31.5 optional credits of the modules of the corresponding specialisation module. Students may also choose to obtain the degree without a mention, and may choose optional subjects from either of the two mention modules indifferently.

1.- El alumnado de primer curso por primera vez a tiempo completo tiene que matricular 60 créditos.
Un 15% del alumnado podrá cursar estudios a tiempo parcial (30 créditos).
2.- Continuación de estudios : libre con un máximo de 75 créditos.

The Faculty of Business Administration and Management has a Tutorial Action Plan that includes welcoming and guidance activities aimed at students when they join the university and also throughout their studies. It is carried out with the purpose of favouring the integration of the student in the university environment, stimulating their learning and supporting the design of their professional career and the search for employment. The lines of action of the Faculty's Tutorial Action Plan are detailed below:

Guidance for new students:

-Presentation of the Faculty. On the first academic day of the course, the Faculty's management team organises an information session aimed especially at first-year students with the aim of promoting their integration. In this session, a presentation is made of the governing bodies, the services and infrastructures available at the centre and the most important USC regulations regarding students.
-Presentation of the Intercentrum Library. The staff of the Lugo Campus Intercentrum Library makes a presentation at the Faculty of the different services it offers to students.
-Welcome day for new students on Campus. The Vice-Chancellor for Coordination of the Lugo Campus organises a welcome day aimed at new students entering the Campus. On this day, among other activities, the people responsible for the different services that USC has on campus will introduce themselves and make themselves available to the students.
- Conference at the Faculty on the process of adapting to the Bologna system from the perspective of the student's work.
- Accompaniment through the USC Student Tutors Programme. This programme is intended for selected students to advise and mentor incoming students. For this, they previously complete a training course.
- Orientation throughout the studies:
- Information session on mobility programmes.
-Informative session on the Final Dissertation.
- Information session on the external internship programme.
-USC's Extraordinary Tutorial Support Programme to help students overcome the subjects that present them with special difficulties.
-Guidance for decision-making at the end of studies:
- Conferences on job search and entrepreneurship.
-Informative session on postgraduate training offer.

Complementary to the Faculty's Tutorial Action Plan, the Degree in Business and Technology will implement, through the figure of the Individual Tutor, a specific action consisting of accompanying and monitoring the students throughout the training process. The main objectives of this action are:

- Promote the comprehensive education of students.
-Enhance an education that is as personalized as possible and that takes into account the needs of each student and resort to appropriate support or activities.
-Promote individual effort and teamwork.

Each Individual Tutor, who will be a teacher of the degree, will be assigned a group of students to monitor. To do this, you will have the following information, which will be provided by the teacher of each subject, for a better monitoring of the student and to offer him/her adequate guidance:

-The access of each user to the theoretical content of the course in addition to the access time.
- The use of the communication tools of the platform (chats, forums, discussion groups).
-The results of the tests and activities sent through the campus.

The USC has a student-tutor program for the undergraduate degrees, so that final year students, after receiving training from the University, can perform orientational tasks to students initiating their studies.

Programa alumnos titores

When a degree suspension occurs, the USC guarantees the adequate development of teachings that were initiated by their students until its suspension. For that, the Government Council approves the criteria related with the admission of new degree entry registration and the gradual suspension of teaching impartation, among others.

If the suspended degree is substituted for a similar one —modifying the nature of the degree—, the new degree regulations will set the conditions to facilitate students the continuity of the new degree’s studies. These regulations will also set subject equivalences in both programmes.

General to all bachelor’s degrees.

Special access conditions or tests are not contemplated.

The Faculty of Business Administration and Management has fully equipped classrooms for online real time teaching, such that alumni following the blended learning mode may follow from outside the classroom. 

The Faculty is located in a modern, functional building adapted for disabled people.

The spaces dedicated to teaching are 8 large theatre classrooms, 4 computer rooms and 4 seminars. All of them are equipped with a computer, digital whiteboard and video projector, and have the technical means necessary for streaming.

Among the spaces for the use of the students, the reading room and the group work room stand out, with capacity for 40 students each. It should also be noted that the Biblioteca Intercampus (library of the Lugo Campus) is located only a few meters away from the Faculty, with more than 1600 reading seats among 9 rooms, including a group workroom.

The building has also a Main Room (Aula Magna) and an assembly hall with capacity for 240 and 91 people respectively, well suited for workshops, conferences, etc . It also has a meeting room prepared for videoconferences with capacity for 30 people.

Fast  internet access is guaranteed in all areas of the building, both by cable and by Wi-Fi.

Finally, it should be noted that the Faculty has a cafeteria and dining room service with regulated prices.

The new Degree in Business and Technology is aimed at training professionals with a flexible mindset and a vision for the future, with extensive knowledge in information and communication technologies (ICT), and in the management and analysis of information so that they can adopt business decisions with greater guarantees of success. Training in technological skills in the educational system is a fundamental pillar to increase the competitiveness of companies, with the ultimate goal of improving economic development and contributing to social well-being. So, the new will impart specific knowledge of business and technological subjects, promoting in a practical way the development of management skills for business initiative, such as leadership, initiative, creativity, decision-making, communication and teamwork, among others.

Another of the fundamental objectives formulated for the Degree in Business and Technology is the training of professionals to act as a communication bridge between the technical and management communities of organisations, providing management with new ways of using technology and providing technologists with guidance on how create or how best to adapt your creations to the real needs of the business.

- Students must prove having and understanding the knowledge in an area of study draw from the premise of a general secondary education. It is usually found in a level that —although it can be supported by advanced textbooks— also includes some aspects that imply knowledge arising from the forefront of their area of study.

- Students must be able to apply their knowledge to their work or vocation in a professional way and possess the competences which are usually proved by means of the elaboration and defence of arguments and problem solving within their area of study

- Students must have the ability to gather and interpret relevant data —normally within their area of study— in order to make judgements that include a reflection on relevant themes of social, scientific or ethic nature.

- Students must be able to transmit information, ideas, problems and solutions to a audience, both specialised and non-specialised.

- Students must develop those abilities of learning necessary to start higher studies with a high degree of autonomy

- Acquire a set of theoretical and practical knowledge related to business creation and management process in the digital era.
- Identify, gather, analyse, and interpret relevant data on questions related to the business and technology field.
- Learn how to plan and implement new technologies to contribute to the improvement of business competitiveness.
- Develop critical thought and reasoning, including ethic reflections on fundamental topics of business and economic nature in the digital era, and communicate them in an effective manner, in Galician, Spanish or English.
- Ability to analyse the behaviour of the economic agents and the functioning of markets, and their role in the digital transformation processes.
- Ability to lead and organise work, both individually and collaboratively, and adaptation to an environment in constant change and evolution.
- Know and correctly use the computer tools and new technologies related to business management.

- Design and manage the human resources strategies, integrating new hiring and work techniques, and developing the necessary direction skills.
- Know the legal fundamentals of the Spanish and international economic and tax system that have an impact on business activity and the particularities related to online hiring and information management.
- Identify the reliable information sources, elaborate, and interpret said information employing the analysis techniques and the appropriate mathematic, statistical, and technological tools to support decision making.
- Know and know how to use the tools and mechanisms of representation, storage, transformation, analysis, and communication of the information in a reliable and efficient manner.
- Understand the possibilities of the Big Data and artificial intelligence and business for the improvement of the business processes and know the requirements for their implementation.
- Understand the business information systems, taking into account the three specific dimensions (informational, technological and organisational) and make decisions related to its specification, design and implementation.
- Propose and codirect the integration of advanced information systems and know their applications to the different areas of business management, paying attention to the quality, safety, and information protection requirements, using cryptography, artificial intelligence and big data.
- Know the use and programming of computer systems, data bases, cryptography, and block chains to the application to the management and analysis of business information and the design and development of products, processes, and new business models.
- Know the web technologies and services, distributed in the cloud, and know how to assess their abilities and adequacy for the creation of new services and business or industrial models.
- Understand the fundamental aspects of the social and economic environment in a macro and micro level, paying special attention to the behaviour of the consumer, the evolution of productive systems, in the global frame of the new economy and information society.
- Know and understand the basic elements of business direction and their main functional areas under the ethic and social responsibility framework.
- Analyse, diagnose and make decisions in the different functional areas of business management choosing and applying the most appropriate technological tools.
- Identify, design, manage and assess creation or transformation projects of products or processes, motivating innovation and entrepreneurship.
- Understand the integrating role of technology and know the main technological products and technological trends associated to the multiple areas of business management.
- Develop the strategic analysis of the company and its environment to make strategic and tactical decisions in the different functional areas, and be able to formulate a technological strategy that supports a business
- Design and manage the commercial strategy and learn new ways of marketing in a digital and globalised socio-economic context
- Design and manage the financial strategy and learn about new forms of financing in a digital and globalised socio-economic context

Mobility

The planning and management of student mobility programmes is developed through the coordinated action of several actors: the Vice-Chancellor responsible for external relations and the University's External Relations Service at a centralised level; the Academic Mobility Officer (RAM); the Academic Coordinators of the different programmes and the Centre and Department Management Unit (UGCD) at faculty level. Each of them has certain functions that are included in the "Regulation of Interuniversity Exchanges".

The mobility of local students is carried out from the second year of studies in the degree, in semester or annual periods. The selection and assignment of destinations to candidates is carried out in accordance with the provisions of the corresponding call and the "Regulations for Interuniversity Exchanges".

Student mobility is regulated through the “Regulation of inter-university exchange.” Exchange programs are managed through the International Relations Office, such as national exchange programs (SICUE) as well as Europeans (ERASMUS) and from outside the European Union (exchanges with Latin American countries or English-speaking countries):

Internships

Degree students must take 16.5 credits of internships carried out in companies related to the degree. This subject is offered in the last semester.

The fundamental objective is for the students to develop the skills acquired in the subjects of the Degree through their immersion in a working environment representative of their future professional context.

The internships will be organised in order to guarantee quality, academic recognition and the most appropriate use by the students. For this, the students will have an external tutor belonging to the institution where the internships are carried out, who will coordinate with an academic tutor who will carry out the evaluation based on the report that the student will make, and the report issued by the external tutor.

Students must complete a final dissertation of 6 credits offered in the last semester of the degree. The topic of the TFG should be related to internships in companies, the different mentions or the digitization of an area of the company.
Upon completion of the subject, the student will be able to:

- Make and present a project in which they prove the skills acquired throughout their studies.
-Clearly explain verbally and in writing the fundamental aspects of their work, using their own business terminology and digital technologies.
