El perfil de ingreso propio de la titulación es el de una persona que tenga interés por las cuestiones relacionadas con las Ciencias de la Salud en general, y por las Ciencias Veterinarias en particular, y con una sensibilidad especial hacia el mundo animal, su medicina, producción y la salud pública, enfocada desde el punto de vista veterinario, con las correspondientes repercusiones en la especie humana. Asimismo, debe estar interesado, o mostrar inquietud, por el mundo agrario en todas sus vertientes, incluyendo la de su desarrollo, y hacia todos los ámbitos sociolaborales y sectoriales en los que se desarrolla la Profesión Veterinaria.
Aunque no son obligatorios los conocimientos específicos previos, se recomienda tener conocimientos básicos previos correspondientes a un nivel de 2º de Bachiller en la opción de Ciencias de la Salud, siendo el ideal un/a estudiante en cuya formación haya incluido las siguientes materias: Biología, Matemáticas, Física y Química.
1.- El alumnado de primer curso por primera vez a tiempo completo tienen que matricular 60 créditos. Un 15% del alumnado podrá cursar estudios a tiempo parcial (30 créditos).
2.- Continuación de estudios: libre con un máximo de 75 créditos
La USC tiene un programa de alumnos tutores para las titulaciones de grao, de forma que alumnos de últimos cursos, despues de una formación que les facilita la Universidad, realizan tareas de orientación a los alumnos que inician los estudios.

Cuando se produzca la suspensión de un Título oficial, la USC garantiza el adecuado desarrollo efectivo de las enseñanzas que hubieran iniciado sus estudiantes hasta su finalización. Para ello, el Consejo de Gobierno aprueba los criterios relacionados, entre otros, con:
• La admisión de matrículas de nuevo ingreso en la titulación.
• La supresión gradual de la impartición de la docencia.
• Si el título extinguido es sustituido por otro similar (modificando la naturaleza del título), fija las condiciones que facilitan a los/las estudiantes la continuidad de estudios en el nuevo título y las equivalencias entre las materias de uno y otro plan.
Access to Bachelor’s Degree programmes is granted to students with the following degrees/ diplomas or studies, or any other recognized as equivalent to these:
A.1. Spanish Bachiller, European Baccalaureate or International Baccalaureate.
A.2. Baccalaureate from European Union Member States’ education systems or other countries withinternational agreements.
A.3. Advanced Technician in Vocational Training, Advanced Technician in Plastic Arts and Design orAdvanced Technician in Sports Education, from the Spanish Education System.
A.4.Studies carried out in European Union Member States or in other countries with international reciprocal agreements which meet the academic requirements in those States to access their university study programmes.
A.5. Official Spanish university degrees of Diplomado, Arquitecto Técnico, Ingeniero Técnico, Licenciado, Arquitecto, Ingeniero, Graduado or Máster Universitario.
A.6. Partial (foreign or Spanish) university studies.
Access to Bachelor’s Degree programmes is also possible for:
B.1. People over twenty-five after successfully passing a specific access test.
B.2. People over forty with work or professional experience related to a university field of knowledge.
B.3. People over forty-five after successfully passing a specific access test.
Likewise, access to Bachelor’s Degree programmes is granted to:
C.1. People meeting the requirements to enter university according to the Spanish Education System regulations prior to Ley Orgánica 8/2013, of December 9.
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has 8 classrooms of different capacities, 23 classrooms for work in small groups and 36 labs for practical teaching. It also has 3 computer rooms, a reading room with around 140 seats and an audiovisual activities classroom.
All the centre's facilities have a wireless network.
The Library of the Faculty of Veterinary Science is part of the Shared Library of the Lugo Campus, and has over 1,600 reading stations, a room for group work, a classroom equipped with 22 computers connected to the wireless network, among other facilities.

Collect and send specimens with their corresponding reports.
Perform standard laboratory test and interpret clinical, biological and chemical results.
Diagnose common diseases using complementary protocols and diadnostic techniques.
Perform epidemiological studies and develop prevention, control and eradication programmes on animal diseases focusing on compulsory notifiable diseases and zoonoses.
Respong to emergencies and perform basic first aid in veterinary.
Perform basic medical and surgical treatments in animals.
Prescribe, manage and give veterinary medicines properly.
Implement basic procedures to ensure proper reproductive activity, and perform technological processes to solve obstetric problems.
Identify raw materials for animal feeding and management of dietary programmes appropriate to the species and condition of the aimals.
Evaluate and interpret health and production parameters of a group of animals, considering economic, environmental and welfare aspects, and seeking their optimisation.
Perform ante-morten and post-morten inspection of the animals destined for the food chain and correctly identify conditions affecting the quality and safety of the products of animal origin.
Conducting healthcare checks in all types of food processing establishments and food handling activities.
Conduct risk assessments, including those related with the environment and biosafety, as well as assessmet, management and monitoring of the quality management systems.
Technical, economic and management advice of veterinary companies in the context of sustainability.
Apply methods for the individual identification of animals.
Perform specific technical reports of veterinary competences.
Apply knowledge about radiation protection in those diadnostic procedures that require the use of ionizing radiation.
Que los estudiantes hayan demostrado poseer y comprender conocimientos en un área de estudio que parte de la base de la educación secundaria general, y se suele encontrar a un nivel que, si bien se apoya en libros de texto avanzados, incluye también algunos aspectos que implican conocimientos procedentes de la vanguardia de su campo de estudio;
Que los estudiantes sepan aplicar sus conocimientos a su trabajo o vocación de una forma profesional y posean las competencias que suelen demostrarse por medio de la elaboración y defensa de argumentos y la resolución de problemas dentro de su área de estudio;

Un conocimiento suficiente de las ciencias en las que se fundamentan las actividades de los/as veterinarios/as;
Un conocimiento suficiente de la estructura y de las funciones de los animales sanos, de su crianza, reproducción e higiene general, así como de su alimentación, incluida la tecnología aplicada en la fabricación y conservación de los alimentos que responden a sus necesidades;
Un conocimiento suficiente del comportamiento y protección de los animales;
Un conocimiento suficiente de las causas, de la naturaleza, del desarrollo, de los efectos, de los diagnósticos y del tratamiento de las enfermedades de los animales, sean considerados individualmente o en grupo; entre ellas, un conocimiento especial de las enfermedades transmisibles al hombre;
Un conocimiento suficiente de la medicina preventiva;
Un conocimiento suficiente de la higiene y la tecnología en la obtención, fabricación y puesta en circulación de alimentos animales o de origen animal destinados al consumo humano;
Un conocimiento suficiente de las disposiciones legales, reglamentarias y administrativas relativas a las materias antes citadas;
Una experiencia clínica y práctica suficiente realizada bajo adecuada supervisión.

La movilidad de los/as estudiantes está regulada a través del “Reglamento de intercambios interuniversitarios”. A través de la Oficina de Relaciones Exteriores se gestionan programas de intercambio tanto nacionales (SICUE), como europeos (ERASMUS) y extracomunitarios (intercambios con países de América Latina o países de habla inglesa):

Prácticas Tuteladas
Se programan un total de 24 ECTS en prácticas tuteladas obligatorias siguiendo los mínimos fijados en la ORDEN ECI/333/2008, con una presencialidad de el/la estudiante del 85%, distribuidas en 3 disciplinas:
- Rotatorio clínico hospitalario: 5 ECTS en rotatorio clínico por los diferentes servicios del Hospital Veterinario Universitario Rof-Codina, con una evaluación final de competencias, equivalente a las 100h de Estancias que actualmente desarrollan los/las estudiantes en el Hospital.
- Estancias clínicas: 10 créditos ECTS de estancia en clínicas externas o desarrollando actividad investigadora clínica en veterinaria, con una evaluación final de competencias.
- Estancias no clínicas: 9 créditos ECTS de estancia en granjas de producción de animales de consumo, plantas piloto, mataderos, laboratorios de ámbito veterinario, industrias agroalimentarias y con profesionales de los Servicios Veterinarios Oficiales, con una evaluación final de competencias.
Tal y como ocurre con las Estancias del actual título de Licenciado en Veterinaria en la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, la Comisión de Docencia de la Facultad elaborará el Reglamento de las prácticas tuteladas para su organización, que será sometido a la aprobación de la Junta de Facultad.
Prácticas Externas Optativas
Los alumnos podrán ver reconocidos un máximo de 6 créditos optativos por la realización de prácticas externas reconocidas en el art. 12.6 del Real decreto 1393/2007.
Al trabajo Fin de Grado se le asigna una extensión de 6 ECTS siguiendo los mínimos fijados en la ORDEN ECI/333/2008, con una presencialidad de el/la estudiante del 15%. Los/las estudiantes podrán inscribirse para la realización del Trabajo de Fin de Grado una vez superados, en su totalidad, un mínimo de 245 ECTS (95%) de los créditos correspondientes a materias obligatorias y básicas (258 ECTS). Para no retrasar la graduación de los estudiantes que reúnan los requisitos, la Facultad ofertará trabajos de fin de Grado para su realización en ambos semestres.

El perfil de ingreso propio de la titulación es el de una persona que tenga interés por las cuestiones relacionadas con las Ciencias de la Salud en general, y por las Ciencias Veterinarias en particular, y con una sensibilidad especial hacia el mundo animal, su medicina, producción y la salud pública, enfocada desde el punto de vista veterinario, con las correspondientes repercusiones en la especie humana. Asimismo, debe estar interesado, o mostrar inquietud, por el mundo agrario en todas sus vertientes, incluyendo la de su desarrollo, y hacia todos los ámbitos sociolaborales y sectoriales en los que se desarrolla la Profesión Veterinaria.
Aunque no son obligatorios los conocimientos específicos previos, se recomienda tener conocimientos básicos previos correspondientes a un nivel de 2º de Bachiller en la opción de Ciencias de la Salud, siendo el ideal un/a estudiante en cuya formación haya incluido las siguientes materias: Biología, Matemáticas, Física y Química.
1.- El alumnado de primer curso por primera vez a tiempo completo tienen que matricular 60 créditos. Un 15% del alumnado podrá cursar estudios a tiempo parcial (30 créditos).
2.- Continuación de estudios: libre con un máximo de 75 créditos
La USC tiene un programa de alumnos tutores para las titulaciones de grao, de forma que alumnos de últimos cursos, despues de una formación que les facilita la Universidad, realizan tareas de orientación a los alumnos que inician los estudios.
Información programa alumnos tutores:
Cuando se produzca la suspensión de un Título oficial, la USC garantiza el adecuado desarrollo efectivo de las enseñanzas que hubieran iniciado sus estudiantes hasta su finalización. Para ello, el Consejo de Gobierno aprueba los criterios relacionados, entre otros, con:
• La admisión de matrículas de nuevo ingreso en la titulación.
• La supresión gradual de la impartición de la docencia.
• Si el título extinguido es sustituido por otro similar (modificando la naturaleza del título), fija las condiciones que facilitan a los/las estudiantes la continuidad de estudios en el nuevo título y las equivalencias entre las materias de uno y otro plan.
Access to Bachelor’s Degree programmes is granted to students with the following degrees/ diplomas or studies, or any other recognized as equivalent to these:

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has 8 classrooms of different capacities, 23 classrooms for work in small groups and 36 labs for practical teaching. It also has 3 computer rooms, a reading room with around 140 seats and an audiovisual activities classroom.
All the centre's facilities have a wireless network.
The Library of the Faculty of Veterinary Science is part of the Shared Library of the Lugo Campus, and has over 1,600 reading stations, a room for group work, a classroom equipped with 22 computers connected to the wireless network, among other facilities.

Que los estudiantes hayan demostrado poseer y comprender conocimientos en un área de estudio que parte de la base de la educación secundaria general, y se suele encontrar a un nivel que, si bien se apoya en libros de texto avanzados, incluye también algunos aspectos que implican conocimientos procedentes de la vanguardia de su campo de estudio;
Que los estudiantes sepan aplicar sus conocimientos a su trabajo o vocación de una forma profesional y posean las competencias que suelen demostrarse por medio de la elaboración y defensa de argumentos y la resolución de problemas dentro de su área de estudio;

Un conocimiento suficiente de las ciencias en las que se fundamentan las actividades de los/as veterinarios/as;
Un conocimiento suficiente de la estructura y de las funciones de los animales sanos, de su crianza, reproducción e higiene general, así como de su alimentación, incluida la tecnología aplicada en la fabricación y conservación de los alimentos que responden a sus necesidades;
Un conocimiento suficiente del comportamiento y protección de los animales;
Un conocimiento suficiente de las causas, de la naturaleza, del desarrollo, de los efectos, de los diagnósticos y del tratamiento de las enfermedades de los animales, sean considerados individualmente o en grupo; entre ellas, un conocimiento especial de las enfermedades transmisibles al hombre;
Un conocimiento suficiente de la medicina preventiva;
Un conocimiento suficiente de la higiene y la tecnología en la obtención, fabricación y puesta en circulación de alimentos animales o de origen animal destinados al consumo humano;
Un conocimiento suficiente de las disposiciones legales, reglamentarias y administrativas relativas a las materias antes citadas;
Una experiencia clínica y práctica suficiente realizada bajo adecuada supervisión.
Mobility
La movilidad de los/as estudiantes está regulada a través del “Reglamento de intercambios interuniversitarios”. A través de la Oficina de Relaciones Exteriores se gestionan programas de intercambio tanto nacionales (SICUE), como europeos (ERASMUS) y extracomunitarios (intercambios con países de América Latina o países de habla inglesa):
Internships
Prácticas Tuteladas
Se programan un total de 24 ECTS en prácticas tuteladas obligatorias siguiendo los mínimos fijados en la ORDEN ECI/333/2008, con una presencialidad de el/la estudiante del 85%, distribuidas en 3 disciplinas:
- Rotatorio clínico hospitalario: 5 ECTS en rotatorio clínico por los diferentes servicios del Hospital Veterinario Universitario Rof-Codina, con una evaluación final de competencias, equivalente a las 100h de Estancias que actualmente desarrollan los/las estudiantes en el Hospital.
- Estancias clínicas: 10 créditos ECTS de estancia en clínicas externas o desarrollando actividad investigadora clínica en veterinaria, con una evaluación final de competencias.
- Estancias no clínicas: 9 créditos ECTS de estancia en granjas de producción de animales de consumo, plantas piloto, mataderos, laboratorios de ámbito veterinario, industrias agroalimentarias y con profesionales de los Servicios Veterinarios Oficiales, con una evaluación final de competencias.
Tal y como ocurre con las Estancias del actual título de Licenciado en Veterinaria en la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, la Comisión de Docencia de la Facultad elaborará el Reglamento de las prácticas tuteladas para su organización, que será sometido a la aprobación de la Junta de Facultad.
Prácticas Externas Optativas
Los alumnos podrán ver reconocidos un máximo de 6 créditos optativos por la realización de prácticas externas reconocidas en el art. 12.6 del Real decreto 1393/2007.
Al trabajo Fin de Grado se le asigna una extensión de 6 ECTS siguiendo los mínimos fijados en la ORDEN ECI/333/2008, con una presencialidad de el/la estudiante del 15%. Los/las estudiantes podrán inscribirse para la realización del Trabajo de Fin de Grado una vez superados, en su totalidad, un mínimo de 245 ECTS (95%) de los créditos correspondientes a materias obligatorias y básicas (258 ECTS). Para no retrasar la graduación de los estudiantes que reúnan los requisitos, la Facultad ofertará trabajos de fin de Grado para su realización en ambos semestres.
