The Degree in Social Work aims to train professionals of social intervention, training the future social workers to work with individuals, families and groups and to plan, apply, coordinate and evaluate services and social policies, providing students with learning opportunities to obtain knowledge, skills and values ​​of Social Work, through a solid general scientific base of related disciplines along with the specific scientific training of the degree. This specific training includes both theory and practice in areas of professional intervention, reinforced with external internships to which the Centre pays special attention and monitoring, dedicating an entire four-month period to them.

El trabajo social es una profesión basada en la práctica y una disciplina académica que promueve el cambio y el desarrollo social, la cohesión social y el empoderamiento y el fortalecimiento y la liberación de las personas. Los principios de justicia social, los derechos humanos, la responsabilidad colectiva y el respeto a la diversidad son fundamentales para el trabajo social. Apoyado por teorías de trabajo social,las ciencias sociales y las humanidades, el trabajo social implica a las personas y las estructuras para hacer frente a desafíos de la vida y aumentar el bienestar.

Dado que no se exige ninguna formación previa específica, los alumnos/as pueden ser admitidos en la titulación de Grado en Trabajo Social si reúnen los requisitos de acceso que establece la ley.
El perfil de ingreso recomendado para los futuros estudiantes es:
- Tener una actitud activa de contribución al desarrollo de una sociedad más justa y una disposición de defensa de la justicia social.
- Sensibilidad hacia las cuestiones de desarrollo e incremento del bienestar social, la salud y calidad de vida de los ciudadanos.
- Habilidad para las relaciones interpersonales, es decir, capacidad empática, reflexiva, analítica y de adecuación a los cambios y dinámicas sociales.
- Interés por temas psicosociales tanto a nivel de opinión como de participación activa.
- Interés por la intervención social en contextos problemáticos en que viven algunos individuos, familias, grupos, organizaciones y comunidades.
- Tener inquietud y compromiso social.
- Interés para el trabajo cooperativo y el trabajo en equipo.
- Capacidad creativa y de adaptación a nuevas oportunidades.

1.- El alumnado de primer curso por primera vez a tiempo completo tienen que matricular 60 créditos. Un 15% del alumnado podrá cursar estudios a tiempo parcial (30 créditos).
2.- Continuación de estudios: libre con un máximo de 75 créditos

La USC tiene un programa de alumnos tutores para las titulaciones de grao, de forma que alumnos de últimos cursos, despues de una formación que les facilita la Universidad, realizan tareas de orientación a los alumnos que inician los estudios.

Cuando se produzca la suspensión de un Título oficial, la USC garantiza el adecuado desarrollo efectivo de las enseñanzas que hubieran iniciado sus estudiantes hasta su finalización. Para ello, el Consejo de Gobierno aprueba los criterios relacionados, entre otros, con:
• La admisión de matrículas de nuevo ingreso en la titulación.
• La supresión gradual de la impartición de la docencia.
• Si el título extinguido es sustituido por otro similar (modificando la naturaleza del título), fija las condiciones que facilitan a los/las estudiantes la continuidad de estudios en el nuevo título y las equivalencias entre las materias de uno y otro plan.

Access to Bachelor’s Degree programmes is granted to students with the following degrees/ diplomas or studies, or any other recognized as equivalent to these:
A.1. Spanish Bachiller, European Baccalaureate or International Baccalaureate.
A.2. Baccalaureate from European Union Member States’ education systems or other countries withinternational agreements.
A.3. Advanced Technician in Vocational Training, Advanced Technician in Plastic Arts and Design orAdvanced Technician in Sports Education, from the Spanish Education System.
A.4.Studies carried out in European Union Member States or in other countries with international reciprocal agreements which meet the academic requirements in those States to access their university study programmes.
A.5. Official Spanish university degrees of Diplomado, Arquitecto Técnico, Ingeniero Técnico, Licenciado, Arquitecto, Ingeniero, Graduado or Máster Universitario.
A.6. Partial (foreign or Spanish) university studies.
Access to Bachelor’s Degree programmes is also possible for:
B.1. People over twenty-five after successfully passing a specific access test.
B.2. People over forty with work or professional experience related to a university field of knowledge.
B.3. People over forty-five after successfully passing a specific access test.
Likewise, access to Bachelor’s Degree programmes is granted to:
C.1. People meeting the requirements to enter university according to the Spanish Education System regulations prior to Ley Orgánica 8/2013, of December 9.

The centre has 4 general purpose lectue halls of capacity between 50 and 120 students, 2 seminar rooms and a computer room. It also has two tutorial rooms.

Among the designated areas for students, the Faculty has tables for group work, with about 45 seats, that are in the Library.

The Faculty has wifi network coverage throughout the building.

1. Recognise and understand the bases of social work as a discipline: history, theories, concepts, nature, methods and models.
2. Identify and evaluate the processes of training, development and evolution of individuals, families, groups, organisations and communities, as well as their current manifestations and future tendencies.
3. Prove a critical understanding of how socio-structural imbalances, discrimination, oppression, and social, political and economic inequities impact in human relations and generate situations of discomfort.
4. Show knowledge of the human behaviour and the social environment emphasising the relationship amongst person/surroundings, development of the course of life, interaction between biological, socio-structural and cultural factors in the development of humans and their behaviour.
5. Analyse concepts critically according to the historical, social and political contexts in which their professional action develops.
6. Understand and identify the main strategies for the development of their professional action with people, families, groups, organisations and communities.
7. Understand the general structure, organisation and provision of the general and specialised social services existing in the different Communities and in Europe.
8. Recognise the existing main trends in social politics, nationally and internationally, as well as their use.
9. Manage training groups, the techniques and instruments of programming, group dynamics and the techniques of group work.
10. Manage fluently the theoretic bases and practical applications of the main instrumental supports of the Social Work.
11. Recognise adequately the bases of the local, autonomic, state, community and international legal system.
12. Apply a scientific culture related to the use of the Social Science epistemology and the social research: Quantitative and qualitative processes of research and social investigation techniques.
13. Understand the main strategies for the resolution of conflicts using mediation.
14. Have a basic understanding of information technologies and communications applied to Social Work.
15. Incorporate and assume the respect of the fundamental rights and of equal opportunities between men and women, equal opportunities and universal accessibility of disabled people, and the values of a culture of peace and democracy.

Que los estudiantes hayan demostrado poseer y comprender conocimientos en un área de estudio que parte de la base de la educación secundaria general, y se suele encontrar a un nivel que, si bien se apoya en libros de texto avanzados, incluye también algunos aspectos que implican conocimientos procedentes de la vanguardia de su campo de estudio;

Que los estudiantes sepan aplicar sus conocimientos a su trabajo o vocación de una forma profesional y posean las competencias que suelen demostrarse por medio de la elaboración y defensa de argumentos y la resolución de problemas dentro de su área de estudio;

Que los estudiantes tengan la capacidad de reunir e interpretar datos relevantes (normalmente dentro de su área de estudio) para emitir juicios que incluyan una reflexión sobre temas relevantes de índole social, científica o ética;

Que los estudiantes puedan transmitir información, ideas, problemas y soluciones a un público tanto especializado como no especializado;

Que los estudiantes hayan desarrollado aquellas habilidades de aprendizaje necesarias para emprender estudios posteriores con un alto grado de autonomía.

2. Be able to apply this knowledge to the professional activity and be able to elaborate and defend points about the questions concerning Social Work
3. Have the capacity to gather and interpret important data, do assessments and social diagnosis.
4. Be able to transmit information, ideas, problems and solutions.
5. Have developed the necessary learning abilities to continue their education and learning with a high grade of independence.

COMPETENCIAS ESPECÍFICAS:

 Tener la capacidad para trabajar con personas, familias, grupos, organizaciones y comunidades y valorar de manera conjunta sus necesidades y circunstancias promoviendo el cambio, la resolución de problemas en las relaciones humanas y el fortalecimiento y la libertad de la sociedad para incrementar el bienestar y la cohesión.
 Tener capacidad para planificar, implementar, revisar y evaluar la práctica del Trabajo Social con personas, familias, grupos, organizaciones, comunidades y con otros profesionales, para la promoción del cambio y la resolución de problemas en las relaciones humanas.
 Tener capacidad para apoyar a las personas para que sean capaces de manifestar las necesidades, puntos de vista y circunstancias.
 Tener capacidad para actuar en la resolución de las situaciones de riesgo con las personas así como para las propias y las de los colegas de profesión.
 Tener capacidad para administrar y ser responsable, con supervisión y apoyo, de la propia práctica dentro de la organización
 Tener capacidad para integrar los principios y normas del Código Deontológico de Trabajo Social y demostrar competencia profesional en el ejercicio del Trabajo Social mismo.

COMPETENCIAS TRANSVERSALES:
Siguiendo las orientaciones del Proyecto Tuning en relación a los perfiles académicos y profesionales se constituye una comisión de estudio del perfil profesional de los trabajadores sociales cuyo informe ha formado parte de los trabajos del Libro Blanco del título de grado en Trabajo Social en la que se proponen competencias transversales. Asimismo la USC conforme a las Líneas Generales para la elaboración de las nuevas titulaciones oficiales reguladas por el R.D. 1393/2007 establece competencias transversales para todas las titulaciones de la Universidad.

El presente título de grado de Trabajo Social incluye 28 créditos de prácticas externas de carácter obligatorio, de los cuales 6 créditos se atribuyen a Prácticas de Investigación en Trabajo Social y 22 créditos al Practicum.
Para matricularse del Practicum es requisito indispensable haber superado 150 créditos básicos y obligatorios, entre ellos todos los de la primera mitad de la titulación.

El informe fin de grado podrá versar sobre el desarrollo y contenido del Practicum o sobre un contenido relacionado con alguna temática o colectivo en el ámbito social, desde alguna de las perspectivas de las ciencias sociales.
